The thing about Crewe was that their young players had been playing together for a few years before making the first team. Most of ours likely to be in L2 were strangers until a couple of weeks ago.

A few observations following earlier posts:-
    FBs – we have 3 for 2 positions, 1 permacrock & 2 inexperienced
CBs – 4 for 2 positions, ideal number except that 2 are injured and only 1 has much league experience, can’t see anything other than a short-term loan to cover.
WMFs – 5 for 2 positions, 1 too many, all right footed. (I’ve got Green & Dales in there)
CMFs – 6 for 2 positions, too many, minimal league experience.
Ss – 5 for 2 positions, too many as we would have Eisa/Green in an emergency.
    Suggestions:-
GK – Sign one, loan out youngster.
    FB – Sign one/two
    CB – re-sign Song’o
WMF – One out (Not Eisa/Gillead)
CM – Loan out two youngsters, sign one experienced ( see CB also)
    S – One out.
Total – 7 out 6/7 in. Over to you Mr. Chairman.

    Hmmm! 4-0 defeat.
Anyone still think we don’t need an experienced campaigner in there?

Yes there is – but he doesn’t post on here!

Looks like the back 4 in the opening (serious) game might be a bit short of experience.

BS is a purist, he takes it seriously and gives it thought. Not everybody treats it the same, for example misterton mick, Sanfran and myself consider predicting an Iron win to be the kiss of death and so don’t do it. If The Iron have a winning season we have no chance in the PL but it’s a good swap for on-field success. (Hang on how come mick, Sf and me weren’t 1-2-3 in the PL last season? Other results obviously went against us!)

Yep, right result but wrong score is 6 points for a win prediction so make it the same for a draw.
How many entered so far Matt? Plenty of ‘views’ on the thread but how much action?
Come on – support The Bru!!!

The same keyboard warriors said the same about Sam Johnstone.
They also slated the likes of Charlie Goode and Cameron Burgess who are both now playing in a higher division.
I’m sure there’s plenty more examples too.
One day the penny might drop that they should SUPPORT young players rather than try to destroy them!

You seem to forget that this is a football forum providing an opportunity for supporters to express their opinions. If the players don’t read Bru then they shouldn’t be affected by any criticism should they? Am I expected to pretend players are up to the job when, from what I see, they’re not. Johnstone, Goode and Burgess were poor (IMO) in an Iron shirt but might have improved, I don’t know I haven’t seen them.
Out of interest are you somebody who goes to the same poor restaurant time after time hoping they’ll eventually learn to cook and serve properly?

I hope I’m still around in 2030 when Watson is a Prem goalkeeper and WG can remind us that he was the only one that appreciated his ability.

” Mussy should be able to correct glaring mistakes”

But how long will it take him Brian? He’s not made much progress so far, are we looking for Rory to peak in his 30’s?
It’s not us you need to convince but the defenders in front of him.

But yeah Goode never showed any signs of potential here, his hoofball style suits Northampton though, confirmed by him charging upfield to take every throw.

    Clearly Brentford see him differently.

    Wrong thread?
Rory Delap made the Premier League with little ability apart from being able to throw the ball a long way.

OK WG I’ll try and explain. I watched him play for The Iron and didn’t think he was good enough. IMO he was L2 at best but I accept he could have improved and you’ve obviously seen that at Northampton. I’m basing my opinion in what I saw in our shirt.
As forgotten says, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

and we have a decent sell on according to Charlie Wilson.

Interesting that Charlie “knows” when the ST seem to get little info from the club?
Also I’m in the same camp as DSGM, do you have enough humble pie to go round in case we need it?

Quite agree, playing PL tactics with L2 players can never work.

    In response to les’s posts:-
“Do we need a CM? – How can we know?
Too many players we know so very little about and that also includes Hallam, to a degree.
    Spence? Vincent?
    Dunno.” And:-
“Gilliead has so many skills – no reason why he may not become the pivot of this team.”

I have seen Spence and Vincent described as ‘slight’ and as Gilliead and Hallam aren’t exactly muscular I still feel we might need a bit of enforcement in CM. It’s L2 after all.

Have to agree with vader (partly)
A couple more signings – yes please.
Passion in the dugout – long overdue.
Listening to what the punters want – mmmmmm.

Could be tricky this. If KVV plays off a target man then what do you do with McAtee?

Could be a “net” 5 in though, so 8 in and 3 out is a possibility. Do we have 3 we can shift though? (Three that we can do without that is.) Colclough? Olomola? Dales?

“Shame we have to guess on that front due to there not being any bloody information about upcoming friendly matches.”

Understandable WG, they can’t risk 5,000 Iron fans turning up wanting to watch.

Can’t remember Ferrite, but if it is then I’m wrong again! Thanks for pointing that out, are you Mrs CT in disguise? Good job I included being wrong as a possibility.

    MacAtee is #9 (4+5=9)
    Olomola has Sharp’s #24
    So all good then!

Don’t like McAtee at 45, looks suspiciously like a ‘token’ number that’s unlikely to be used. Hope I’m wrong (not unusual) and not just a cynical old b*****d.
Numbers would suggest there are ins and outs still to come.

“we would have to remember that he was never very good at coming off his line for crosses.”

Haven’t you spotted the common denominator? Every keeper coached by Mussy does the same thing, I think he must tie their legs to the goalposts during coaching sessions!!

Just so I’m clear on this – if a player is cr4p (and we’ve had a few lately) and I shout “******* you’re cr4p” is that abuse or a statement of fact?

    Not a pleasant individual IMO.
