Can’t quite believe we’re winning (we have been absolutely shocking as per) but I’ll take it!

Bring back Cox! We need the players unfit and incapable of anything but defending the 18 yard box! :-)

Good idea, he does have a better PPG ratio than Mr. Hill after all.

Just not good enough. We were down before today but this just puts a few more nails in the already well sealed coffin.

Win every other game hahaha. You do realise we’ve won 4 games out of the last 50? Yes, that’s right, 4 out of the last 50!!

Best manager since NA by far.

I’m assuming this is a joke? He’s won one bloody game!

Realistically we need 1.5 points per game which would take us to 46 at the end of the season. That would have kept us up in the past 7 seasons in League 2 (depending on goal difference).

An incredibly tough ask given that we’ve only won 4 games in the past 50! We need to start by winning our home games, starting this weekend. Hopefully the new signings immediately click.

CT’s lineup is the one I’d go for (very much agree with the comments regarding Pugh, shouldn’t be anywhere near our best 11). If everyone is fit I still think Thompson is our best left back.

Might be because he’s played for 2 clubs this season so wouldn’t be able to play for another.

If that’s the case his options were either he gets payed off, sits at home and trains on his own as no other club can sign him. Or…earn the same money whilst training within a professional club setup every day with the (very!) slight chance you might make the playing squad.

Don’t really blame him for staying, the blame should be on whoever gave the man a 2 year contract!!

It’s not just 23 players, I believe it’s 23 players who had played at least 1 professional game before the start of the season. I’ll leave someone with more time on their hands to figure that out!

Scunthorpe United top goalscorers so far this season:

    Hippolyte – 4
    Loft – 4
    Scrimshaw – 3
    Davis – 2

All gone this transfer window. 7 goals have been scored this season by the entire squad that’s left on our books. We’re down regardless of the likes of KD bloody T being paid up!

    Any news on new transfers?

Blackpool Gazette are reporting that Nuttall is still due to sign for us by the end of the day.

Signing two players from a team just promoted from L2 should have been excellent business, why they turned out to be two duds is a mystery.

They were basically Morecambe reserves though.

The previous season Kenyon started 10 league games, Davis 22.

I really hope Grant does sign, he’s exactly the type of midfielder we’ve been lacking for years. Absolutely bossed the middle of the park against us for Swindon first game of the season, made the rest of our midfield look like they were playing on quicksand!

Too little too late though really isn’t it? Other clubs like Stevenage (who were below us in the table after the Oldham win) made pretty impressive signings in the first week of the transfer window and are now 9 points clear of us. We’ve dawdled around, sold last season’s top scorer and ended up 7 points from safety.

Doesn’t really matter who we sign, the club is rotten, we’ve won 5 games of competitive football in 49 games since March 2021!

I wonder if he can take a “penalty”, thats if we ever get into the penalty box and gain one!

Guessing this is tongue in check as only three teams in League 2 have been awarded more penalties than us this season (we’ve had 5)!

There have been murmurings of a gentlemen’s agreement made with Bristol so that he doesn’t play. Then again, this is Joey Barton we are talking about.

Isn’t that against league rules? I recall West Brom / West Ham being investigated for not playing Snodgrass after he transferred from one to the other.

Rules state that “no club shall enter into a contract which enables another party to that contract to acquire the ability materially to influence its policies or the performance of its teams in league matches.”

Unless that’s only in the Premier League and doesn’t apply to us.

Can’t believe we’re not about 4-0 down, Watson keeping us in the game.

Absolute men against boys, it’s as if we’re playing against a Premier League team. None of these players are National League standard let alone League 2.

Just had a look at completed transfers (BBC Sport) and if, as suspected, we can’t pay a fee for players the only two lost possibilities for our needs seem to be McPake (Tranmere) and Agard (Donny) and both look better bets than us. Loan signings seem to be kids which is probably not what Hill wants. No money and few prospects isn’t a very attractive proposition. Now if we were paying BIG money with the promise of ambition and a brand new stadium to play in then…………….

Stevenage, one of our only hopes of catching to avoid the clutches of relegation, have signed Ed Upson, Michael Bostwick and Luke O’Neill on frees or on loan…all experienced league campaigners. I would take all three! Guessing we’re much more in need of a Striker/CB though.

He said we wouldn’t be relegated from League 1, his offspring even proclaimed fans were morons for suggesting the likelihood.

Don’t expect anything to change this January, we’re going down.

Anyone else feeling that 2-0 is incredibly harsh i feel like we have been the better team

Really? We might have had our fair share of possession but I can’t recall a single decent chance being created.

Pugh and Gallimore have been awful in midfield. How are they keeping Beestin out of the team?

1-0 down against the best defence in the country with no strikers on the pitch. Can’t see it happening, cheers Rory for your polo hands.

Good riddance to one of the worst strikers I’ve seen in an Iron shirt. Can’t control a football, can’t pass, can’t shoot, barely wins any headers for his size, tries taking on the world with the ball at his feet…can’t believe folks on here see anything in him. Kyle Wootton was/is twice the player and that’s saying something!

Don’t shoot the messenger BLT, just posting what the rules are supposed to be according to the EFL. It seems we broke two of them with no problem so I’m still confused. Hope the club and the EFL know what’s going on. Of course if the loan was repaid ……………..!!

No shots being fired here Tash…I was confused in the summer and I’m just as confused now. I’ve read the same on the EFL website and if we are indeed under those embargo rules then surely we’ve breached it multiple times already??

Wilson has played in more than one first team game this season.

And if what Tash has said above is true, how did we hand out two year deals to multiple players in the summer (Millen and O’Neill spring to mind)?

It’s good that we’re getting more possession under Hill and not the usual 30% like we were under Cox, but jeez we’re so poor in the final third! Stevenage had much better chances than us and were only whiskers away from scoring on multiple occasions…any high ball over the top and we were a complete shambles.

January can’t come quick enough, CB (to replace the truly dreadful Taft) and a decent striker are a must.
