    World Cup semi-finalists. Euros finalists.

It looks alright on paper but we should have 100% beaten Croatia and made it to the World Cup final. And that Euro final was a travesty…we went 1-0 up then immediately sat back and failed to have another single shot on target for the rest of the game including extra time. 39% possession playing boring football with a boring manager!

Ugbo was useless here but is now scoring coals in the Belgian and French top flight. It’s a funny ol’ game!

Both started their careers at Scunthorpe? Waterfall played for about 5 different clubs before arriving, but don’t let that get in the way of your narrative.

We had the best centre back pairing in League 2 whilst they were here in Mirfin and Canavan, so it isn’t hard to see why they didn’t get much action.

Miller left too soon? How does that work considering he was here on loan and played the entire season??

Unbelievable the number of players we’ve let go who go on to flourish

Is the number really that high?

Other than Matt Godden, Lyle Taylor and Charlie Goode I’m struggling to think of anyone else we “let go” who have gone on to do particularly well in the Football League.

We need less Voses and more Woolfords, although I don’t think he came cheap back then so we’ve got no chance getting that calibre of player these days!

Cox this past season – 0.74 points per game.

Hill this past season – 0.44 points per game.

Cox was the pretty much the worst manager in our history…that was until Keith Hill came along! How anyone has any faith in this man is baffling. He replaced a lot of Cox’s dross with his even worse dross in January (most oh whom he had an affiliation with from previous roles). Putting out the team he did on Saturday was insulting to everyone involved in that game, culminating in my complete lack of faith that he is the man to potentially turn our fortunes around!

Too many people have got upset about awful results when the season was already dead. Playing young uns was exactly the right course to take. Planning for next season

Codswallop! Results were awful (and worse than Cox!) before he decided to throw every youngster possible into the firing line.

Never been so embarrassed to be a Scunny fan at a game before. If these youngsters are the basis of our squad for next season then we may as well not bother.

Until the Head of Recruitment changes changes I’ll very much remain a pessimist. Even if we all of a sudden had money to burn do you really have any confidence the current incumbent of that role would put together a decent squad of footballers!?

You only have to look at Everton and Man United to see that you can spend all the money in the world but if your recruitment is pants then you’re going to struggle. Our recruitment since Alexander left has been absolutely shocking!

Also strange that we managed to give 2 year deals to Perry, O’Neill and Millen. Weren’t the rules of the embargo that we were only allowed to sign free agents on one year deals?

Out of that lot I’m really struggling to name anyone I’d keep, these are maybes at most:

Nuttall – could come good after a full pre-season as he hadn’t played for about 2 years before signing.
Thompson – definitely our best left back when fit, but that won’t be for a long time after his injury.
Rowe – if he’s played at fullback.
Gallimore – looks strong for a young ‘un.
Beestin – if he ever returns to his performances of last season.

Tony Daws wanted to release Cribb a few years ago…

Have we seen anything of Cribb yet to be outraged by this statement?

Was at the game today and watched Cribb closely…I’m sorry but how the hell is he making the starting lineup at the moment!? Looked lost and didn’t get anywhere near the opposition. The one or two times he was actually in possession he gave the ball away. Then to read Hill’s post match reaction saying he thinks he matched up to Ebou Adams. Absolutely no chance!

Dan Gallimore on the other hand, looked very promising at centre back.

I’d imagine some conversations went along these lines:

SE: Peter, why is your son head of recruitment?
PS: Because Coxy really, really wanted him to be, even against my wishes.
SE: Cox isn’t here anymore, perhaps we should look to make a change?
PS: How dare you disrespect my family!!
    SE: Ok byeeee

Obviously not good enough in Hill’s opinion otherwise they’d be in the team, wouldn’t they? It’s not like he’s afraid of throwing the youth in considering Cribb very recently became our youngest ever player.

The fact that last night was considered a good performance and an improvement tells you everything about how far we’ve fallen. We were rubbish, never looked like scoring and had to rely on the crossbar and two crucial Millen blocks to save us a point.

Remember when we used to complain that Gary Hooper missed too many 1-on-1’s!? Now I literally can’t remember the last time we’ve created a 1-on-1 opportunity, let alone score from it!

Pretty much a guaranteed win against Rochdale this weekend. If Hill is that much better than Cox (one poster has alluded to him as our best manager since Adkins!) and now also has a better squad to choose from then we should easily better the 0-0 we got at their place earlier in the season.

Or are we perhaps still just a really, really shit football team!?

I know we haven’t got time but to gel eight new players together will take at least six weeks

If that’s the case then why bother wasting money to sign them at the end of January? Especially as the majority are either on loan or on contracts until the end of the season so won’t be here after that anyway.

Was at the game and it was just complete men against boys. We actually had a couple of half decent chances to go 1 up but to a man Swindon were better than us in every department on the pitch (can see why Grant didn’t get in their team, lost count the number of times he got caught in possession or gave the ball away).

I’m also really struggling to see how a Premiership team ever paid £1m for Matheson!? He’s the worst full back at the club by far and we have a few poor ones! Probably one of the worst performances I’ve seen in an Iron shirt, looked like a lost schoolboy the entire game.
