First off, why would decent players want to sign for a club which escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth, while changing nothing, choosing the same no hope players, and playing boring football?
Even given that they were big earners teleased to cut wages, why would they both take a pay cut snd sign for a no hope club?

A properly run club, run not by one man and his family, a club which has interacted with it’s supporters instead of alienating them, a club that has engendered support from the local community instead of falling out with everyone.

Now compare their league position with ours.
