Didn’t Swann extend the stadium sponsorship for a further 10 years?
O’Malley is under contract
Don’t think Beestin is.1 user thanked author for this post.
Can’t remember the game…
Steve torpey in front on the DRE, cross comes in, open goal from about 3 yards out and somehow managed to head it into the ground and Miss. Might have even gone over the bar.
Aye, it was pretty bad. Shrewsbury the year we went up.
Having had discussions with Neil to establish the facts the thread was removed.
Enjoyed taking the piss out of that scruffy git Pete Winkleman, of MK Dons fame, who was hopping around on a piss soaked floor whilst trying to wash dog shit of his fancy shoes at Dagenham.
In typical Iron fashion, we were coasting at 3-0 up with twenty to go before that huge thunderstorm and the inevitable last minute equaliser!

Great thread on Twitter here:
As Scunthorpe United prepare for the final games as a Football League club, here are some of my personal memories of 25+ years of attending games. Most of them have little to do with the actual football.

I think the lad who just signed pro terms is in goal today. Cannot be any worse than Watson. Can’t be many goalkeepers that have conceded as many as him over a five year period.

Swann’s trust steeds
Wasn’t she in fact Rodwell’s right hand woman?
Tony Daws wanted to release Cribb a few years ago…
He told me Sunday.
Please be careful with some of these comments.

There seems to be a discrepancy here. Are they stewards or are they security personnel?
The ones with the handcuffs are all outsourced.

For balance, the fan jumped over the wall and appeared to swing a punch at the steward. I do not know what happened in the build up, but his actions cannot be condoned.
There were, however, enough stewards in the vicinity to deal with him appropriately without the use of cable ties and handcuffs once he was taken to the floor.
The heavy handed stewarding has undoubtedly led to this point and I fear we will see more ugly scenes in the final three home games.
Told the fan will be punished with a season ticket for next season!😉

The guy that jumped over the wall was an idiot, but a knee to the back and application of handcuffs was completely over the top. I have never seen anything like it in a football stadium.

He’s improved, but it was an awfully low bar.
I’d be amazed if another League team take a punt.2 users thanked author for this post.
Does Neil post on Bru?
No, not at the moment, however he is going to be circulating an email address where he can be contacted in the next few days.

There has definitely been some unacceptable behaviour this season, but the overzealous stewarding is actually inciting more trouble. The fact stewards are visibly carrying handcuffs does not sit right with me. There were at least two heavies with them last night!
I was also concerned that said heavies had at least two young ladies trying to control the crowd whilst they watched from a distance. I do fear somebody is going to get hurt before the end of the season.
He’s going back to Dagenham.

Interesting comments from Keith in the presser today. Wouldn’t say if he wanted to keep him and wouldn’t be drawn on whether he’d had a good season. He clearly has and there’s no doubt that he has been our player of the season, but I still think he will struggle to get a league club when he leaves in the summer. Time will tell.
He’s had a good season, but I’d be surprised if he stays in the football league.

Cribb will be on the radar of much bigger clubs.
Is he being played to escalate the transfer fee?Yes if he plays ten games we will get another £5,000 as part of the compensation agreement. Leicester have been keen for a year and Newcastle are also keeping tabs. He won’t be here next season. Given our academy is category three we won’t get much of a fee. Think it is £3k per year between the ages of 9-11 and £12,500 per year between the ages of 12-16. Think he has been here since he was 8..
The worst for a long time. This was the bloke that forgot to play added time in an FA Cup match last year and brought the players back out to ‘finish’ the half before starting the second. Absolutely incompetent.

Hill and Jarvis just don’t get on we were led to believe yesterday in conversation, how true just don’t no.
Have heard recently that his attitude is questionable at best.
Millen and Delaney were excellent IMO. Between those two for MOTM.

The strikers have little to no positional sense and their movement is generally very poor. Sadly, on the rare occasion they do get it right, the delivery and service up to them was also abysmal.

It does appear that the stewarding has been particularly poor this season, but I’d argue the worst incidents I’ve witnessed happened under the previous ownership. Remember Lincoln in the play offs or the Hull ‘sponsors’ farce? It is Swann’s problem now, of course, but there have always been issues with stewarding at GP.
openly dealing drugs in the toilets before the game,
They were sniffing coke in the Farmhouse toilets. Sounded like a doctors waiting room!
Labadie should definitely have gone. Had the offences been committed a few minutes further apart he surely would have done. (The ref from the Arsenal game last night would have had him walking – that was a good decision imo!)
Watson was very lucky. Looked a clear handball to me.
Pugh – hmm. Bad tackle on him which could have been deemed reckless and deserved a card but I have to agree with Ferrite. He pushed himself back up with his left foot, which was on White’s leg. Not a stamp but definitely applied pressure. Gave the ref an option and can see why he gave it.

Don’t blame Kenyon really. Got a young family and doesn’t want to take a big cut in wages. Think he is holding out for National League. The blame lies solely with the ones who signed him!
