That’s because he sat everybody behind the ball and crossed his fingers that we robbed a flukey goal.
Cox is and will always be utter dog shit. This is the prat who has a squad full of players who couldn’t even press because he didn’t even work them hard enough to get them match fit.
Swann’s fault for keeping him on as long as he did. If we got Hill much earlier on, we’d be a lot better off than we are.
I still think not recalling Wilson was a bit daft. Why wouldn’t you want to keep a young, quick and direct runner who can play right wing when we only have Feeney who’s a natural in that position ?
Bit off topic but I’d like 4/4/2 against Rochdale. Hackney and Grant in CM feeney and sinclair out wide, nuttall and burns through the middle with Lewis LB and the other 3 left as they were.
Hill needs to let them of the leash and play in the style how he did at Rochdale, get plenty of balls in the box…play direct and work for the knock downs.
Why not have a good go ?. I suspect we may be down already anyway.

I’m not even convinced Alcazar is even a fan anyway. I’m not entirely sure what he’s up to but I’ve never seen him say an anything positive regarding The Iron.
Saying Alcazar’s glass is half empty is not doing him justice. The way he carries on you would be lucky to find just the one drop.
Tells you all you need to know when we all know really we’re probably already down but choose to see the positives as it’s the only thing to cling on to. Alcazar’s grudge against Swannster over takes that and he can’t even bring himself to get behind the club.
Just out of interest, have you ever turned up to a game and watched us live before or bought club merchandise, shirt e.t.c ?
As I said a lot of it is from last ditch defending which is something a good CB at this level wouldn’t have to resort to.
A good CB at this level wouldn’t be the best CB around either, Ferrite !

The penny would have dropped a while ago. In my opinion the only reason he reappeared before was to quieten the fans down after the whole gate locking incident.
That is of course just my opinion. Not seen him since. I know he hasn’t attended a game now in quite a long time.

Onariase is fairly solid but he’s not the best in possession of the ball and a lot of what he does is last ditch defending.
Too slow at reading play or not the best positionally ?. Not entirely sure but if you’re a really decent, solid defender you really shouldn’t be finding yourself regularly putting in last ditch tackles..if you’re a good CB you shouldn’t have to.
Taft is the biggest culprit for the goals going in but Manny is a big part of it as well. Let’s face it, there must be a reason why those two have been at the back and we’ve let in so many goals.

Feeney or Sinclair really an upgrade on Hippolyte?
Both still not 100% match fit. I would say they’re an improvement. Hippolyte has been woeful apart from the upturn in form when Hill first arrived.
What did he do apart from that rather short spell when he was playing well?
I have to disagree there ironawe. I’ve bashed Millen in the past but he’s never really had a proper run of games due to injuries. Millen’s impressed me of late. I think he’s playing pretty well.
I won’t say Millen’s our best ever RB because I’d be lying, but he’s way better than Matheson who looks a fecking death trap.
One gripe I have with Hill is that he keeps playing odd players out of position. Why did he not play Lewis at LB who was fit and had 2 games rest prior to Swindon ?
As Mick said further up, we should go 4/4/2. Same back 4. Grant in the middle with Beestin. Feeney and Sinclair out wide with Nuttall and Burns upfront.
I will go back to playing odd players strangely out of position as my number 1 annoyance though, it really wasn’t needed yesterday at all..not with young Lewis fit.

Unfair on Hill to just suggest he got people in for the sake of people just seeing that something was being down.
Hill did his best and got in the best players he possibly could on a shoestring budget…not only that he had to bring in players that nobody else wanted and the reason why nobody else wanted them was the fact they weren’t match fit.
You can tell they’re getting fitter by the game but certainly not ideal or acceptable for where we are. All caused by Swann who went back on his word and didn’t pay the loan off.
Swann said “I’ll do everything I can to make sure we’re not relegated”…..fast forward 2 weeks and from the outside looking in he did the bare minimum.
Also you’re right, Swann’s not attending games and hasn’t been for sometime. I suspect if/when we go down, we’ll continue not to see him because he knows the shit that will be coming his way. Swann will avoid the club like the plague.

I know it was a 3-0 score line but it wasn’t really a 3-0 type game. I think the unfit players looked fitter and we looked much better going forward but we’ve got to cut out these mistakes and not play Matheson again.
Complete liability. Millen to be fair to him is play quite well now but that young lad from Wolves looks awful.
Hill should play Lewis ahead of him. O’malley is due back and Thompson can’t be far away now.
Alexander had much better players at his disposal so how the hell can you compare the two situations ?

I thought we looked really good until Matheson’s stupid mistake and the deflected goal. Best we’ve looked going forward by some distance, we actually looked threatening but you can’t legislate for a mistake like that.
Only gripe I have is that we had Lewis on the bench, why was he not playing ?. Lewis has had 2 matches rest.
I’m not so sure we won’t get anything against Swindon. Delaney is a huge improvement on Taft. Feeney, Grant and co will be getting all the more fitter with each passing game.
Hill needs to send them out with more impetus to attack and if we can be better going forward I fancy us to eek out a narrow win.
Maybe I’m dreaming, who knows ?
We’ll find out tomorrow.

Not going to happen unless Feeney, Nuttall, Sinclair and Pyke show us more than we have seen so far.
Given them chance to get fit first. Nuttall has played 1 90 minutes in 2 years and 2 lots of 50 mins with one of them being against a no mark team in the Lincs cup.
You have to be reasonable with these players. In an ideal world they’d spark into life and play brilliantly but it will take a bit of time as they’re clearly still rusty.
Fully match fit I think this line up is upper mid table which is what we need to be for the next 16 games:
Watson
Millen Onariase Delaney O’Malley
Grant
Sinclair Hackney
Feeney
Burns NuttallTerrible line up. Telling you now that if we go with Sinclair who’s really an attacking midfielder and play him in the middle of the park with Hackney we’d get played straight through.
Playing that formation Hackney will be ok next to Pugh or Gallimore with Grant sitting but not Sinclair in there. I’d have listed Beestin but he still doesn’t look right to me.
I’d like to see burns and Nuttall up top but think Hill will keep with this 4/3/3
Exactly how is that different from last night? That’s literally how we won.
We were down to 10 men, what did you expect us to do ?
I’d still rather have Hill rather than Cox.
Just for you ferrite, we’ll sack hill off and bring Cox back. Hill doesn’t only have to content with moulding 8 new players together, he also has to get them fit in the process.
Cox only got the results he did because he sat everybody behind the ball and crossed his fingers the opposition strikers had a massive off day and we got a lucky one from a dead ball situation.
I know who’d I’d rather have in charge. Question Hill all you like but he’s a massive improvement on Cox.

Allo Allo
Excellent.
Destination Play-Offs?
Is this effort another badapple creation ? lol
Just realised Hackney is back for the Rochdale game. Young Gallimore or Rowe to cover for Pugh against Swindon ?
I’m struggling to think of a worse refereeing decision that I’ve seen
Worst one I ever saw was away at Shrewsbury when Sam Aiston ran a whole 10 yards jumped off the floor with both feet and slammed right into Sheldon breaking his leg in the process and received a yellow card.
Also Kevin Phillips once when he score for West Brom away despite being about 10 yards offside.
That ref tonight though was a joke. Watson should have gone but so should 2 of their players. Their captain for a blatant tug on Nuttall and White for them went shin/knee high on Pugh and somehow Pugh was penalised.
How he’s being allowed to ref professional games is beyond me. I agree Walsall players were rolling about all over and it was the pressure put on an incredibly weak ref which resulted in the 2nd yellow card.
3 points in 3 points though. I think Hackney is back now, he’ll add a bit more quality. Grant and Manny were outstanding.

“I’m just a bit baffled by how Hill is seen as some sort of a messiah among Iron fans”
Ferrite, nobody is saying he’s the next coming of Alex Ferguson but he came here with a squad filled with shit and unfit players.
Now thanks to Swann not paying the loan off he’s had to go down the unfit players route again to replace the other no mark once unfit players.
All comes down to the embargo. Swann said ” I’ll do everything in my power to make sure we’re not relegated”
Fast forward weeks later he refused to pay the loan off and get the embargo taken off. I don’t blame Hill as these players he brought in are definitely better than before but he was forced to bring in unfit players who are going to take time to get up to speed.
TIME WE DON’T HAVE !
Question Swann’s actions, don’t blame Hill.

No*
Honestly the man takes the piss. Swann’s now is all for cost cutting and saving the club after he’s near enough ruined it. Cutting costs after 12+ million in debt ?
I find it interesting that he couldn’t find the money to pay off the loan he knew would help the club stay up and yet spent all that money he full well knew we couldn’t afford to spend.
Swannster couldn’t even find it within himself to pay it off despite signing the clubs assets off to coolsilk.
I’ve got to be careful what I say here but put it this way, he makes Dick Turpin look like an amateur. I bet he won’t turn up now for the rest of the season, he’ll swerve us like the plague.

Scunny never seemed to want to get up the field, the truth is that the complete team are not good enough, and one win in 17 matches surely backs that up.
Completely disagree as that’s absolutely ridiculous. 8 new players have come in with a number of them only playing one game.
We struggled big time during the 2nd half due to the unfit players who had received next to know playing time before coming here were all found wanting.
Pretty understandable.
No doubt this team is better than the one before and to put these in the same bracket as the last lot this early on when they haven’t even got their match fitness is extremely unfair in my opinion.

No doubt in my mind the squad is stronger. The only problem is that we were able to get the players we got are because they were just happy to be playing football again.
No other clubs wanted them for the same reason we’ll be struggling with them for the foreseeable future, little to no match fitness.
Do you really think if given the choice Hill would bring in players so short of match fitness ?
Hill only went down that route because that was the only route he was able to go down.
If Swann didn’t run this club so recklessly to begin with he wouldn’t have had to completely slam the brakes on monetarily. This is what has caused this to begin with.
Becoming a chairman of a football club and spending 115% of your total turnover in the hope of championship football, taking out loans you know the club won’t be able to pay back isn’t a sound business model.
What gets me is, is that he wouldn’t run his hotel business in such a way and yet comes here and does exactly that while completely destroying the club in the process.
It’s ok uptheiron backing him but it’s his actions which have caused this and the embargo. If Swann didn’t run this club so recklessly we would probably have had the money to tie us over during the pandemic and we wouldn’t have needed the loan in the first place.
No problems with the players Hill has brought in as they’re better players than what we had but they’re so short of match fitness.
Ironically we have the same fitness problems than what Hill was faced with when he first became manager. Only way they’re going to pick up now is through match time and double training session. Sad thing is that it will take time, time we can ill afford to take waiting for them to get up to speed.
Says it all when Swann can’t even be arsed to turn up and watch us anymore…he caused the mess and now he’s playing the role of the disappearing man.

…a huge outpouring of fury, of hatred, of anger on here aimed at one Ched Evans, when he was accused of a heinous crime.
There seems to be complete silence over the accusations levelled at young master Greenwood.
Or is he “somehow” different?
No, not different. I think it’s down to the fact we have a complete inept penis in charge and we’re staring non league football right in the face. My mind is focused elsewhere.
The threat of this club folding when down in non league is at the forefront.
No point in discussing Greenwood until he’s been up in front of a judge.
“The first half yesterday we matched Oldham, not much in it. But the way Oldham came out in the second half and for a good 20 or 30 minutes totally outplayed us, I just couldn’t believe was happening”
You must be awfully naive then if you didn’t know what was happening. Hill was able to sign the players he signed because no other team wanted them due to not having hardly any minutes at their parent clubs.
The players second half look cream crackered. Nuttall for instance, last 90 mins was 2 years go. Sinclair, Grant, Pyke and Feeney have had very little game time, which means they’re going to tire before the opposition which obviously means they’re unfortunately going to get overrun before they gain match fitness and get up to speed.
I suspect what happened against Oldham in the second half will happen for at least next, say 5 matches until they get up to speed. This is Swann’s fault for not clearing the embargo.
To be fair he’s a young kid from u23’s played 3 games in a week and the amount of work he get’s through is admirable, yes you’re right we should expect all players to get 90mins out of game in game out but he’s an undercooked kid in footballing terms not a robot.
The other players Hill had to sign, through no fault of his own are nowhere near match fit.

Penny dropped or simply no choice?
I’d imagine it’s a bit of both, either way at least a footballing man is making the decisions no…which is how it should have been from day one.
1 user thanked author for this post.
There must be a way around it because even Hill said the other day that’s now the windows open more players are now on the free market and that’s an area he’ll be looking at.
If there wasn’t something he could do, why would he even be looking ?
