I suspect it’s people aggrieved by his verbal backing of Hilton, berating sceptical fans for not backing him and no apology. I didn’t boo, think he should be given a chance to redeem himself, but I didn’t clap him like the others.

If you look at footage of a murdered young Israeli woman’s corpse being paraded around the Gaza Strip and see this as “a day of celebration for supporters of democracy and human rights” then you are completely devoid of a moral conscience and are fundamentally broken as a person. https://t.co/9gpnlpbksv

Some of the responses to today have been sick. Oz, however, is a credit to his profession and as someone who stands for Palestinian rights without letting Jew hatred get in the way. I don’t agree with him on everything, but he is a vital voice.

Remember we had Dean out and we are still just coming over a turbulent few weeks. Think they did well in the circumstances and a 1-0 win was fair.
Ogle, Jenkins and Butterfield shone. Jenkins was my man of the match. Bennet impressed too and Evans brought some steadiness back to the defence.

You seem to have more antipathy towards JustIron than us Hell bound heathens! :-)

<iframe title=”‘If I Don’t Steal [Your Home] Someone Else Will’ Israeli Settler Justifies Forcible Takeover” src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/KNqozQ8uaV8?feature=oembed” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share” allowfullscreen=”” id=”fitvid0″></iframe>I can’t understand why they are so angry
I do not agree with the Settlers and their methods. However, this wave of Hamas/PIJ terror is appalling. There are lives at stake because of their extremism and Hamas or PIJ don’t make their intent towards Jews a secret. Nor do they value Palestinians that much. They’re happy to have them tortured and killed when it suits.
The Russians brutalised and destroyed Chechnya in the early 00s. Grozny, in particular, was a shell after Russian attacks and oppression of Chechens. These actions did not excuse the Chechen terrorist massacre at Beslan in 2003. Similarly this current Islamist action is inexcusable.
We’ve got our club back. Happiest game in years for me.

I back Israel and support them against Hamas. Israel get support, rightfully, but supporting Ukraine has many whining.
It works both ways. As much as some show hypocrisy in showing solidarity to Ukraine, but not Israel, the opposite is also true.
Asking questions was what we should have been doing with Hilton. There’s nothing wrong with asking questions. It allows answers to be out in the open, as much as possible, for fans to have trust and to allow owners to be accountable. It’s not necessarily to attack them.
The fans abusing will then moan when journalists don’t give us the time of day when we need them.

About to get ready and then drive to Scunny. Might see some there. UTI.
I am pleased bpg is buying in to the unity being offered.

October 6, 2023 at 5:39 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274847I wonder if the narrative that honest Dave was trying to save the club will last after The Athletic part 2. I suspect such claims will lookeven sillier.

October 6, 2023 at 12:05 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274823He loaned the club money, yes. As owner of the club at the time, Hilton was primarily responsible for ensuring loans repayments were being made.
October 6, 2023 at 11:49 am in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274818I don’t think he should apologise for expecting money back from his loan. That was all on Hilton, especially regarding misrepresenting it as a donation.
Well done to Alex Calvo-Garcia for his donation.

Are you referring to the podcast mention of Hilton’s demands to move ground, as mentioned in the podcast, ironfan? If so, I believe you don’t need to worry too much, because this is old news which has since been worked through. The talk of Hilton demanding us to move ground was what caused the talk of the deal being off at the time, I believe, but that has seemingly been worked through.

Fair. I realise that Swann holds the blame there. Though, if Harness and co secure a ground solution it will be something Hilton failed to do, and that’s what I am trying to refer to really. Swann cost us club ownership of the ground, but Hilton’s nature might have costed us with playing there.

Maybe we can have our Bru members corner on the march. It might mean others pelting tomatoes at us though. :-)
The haven’t been owners a day yet so give them a chance to sort it out, Hilton wasn’t given it rightly or wrongly, I know Simon and Roj pretty well to talk to and they are both Iron through and through, met Michelle once and I know she is a Iron as well, let us just let them sort it in their own way and stop jumping to conclusions, they will know the priorities, let us just call them the dream team
I don’t think anyone isn’t giving Michelle a chance. I suspect more will give her and those involved a chance because their credentials are far stronger than Hilton’s and I would be incredibly surprised if we hear of the same skeletons in the closet as with Hilton.
As for whether Hilton was given a chance, I would say that he didn’t leave because of this. He got found out, didn’t have the money really and tried to use that as an excuse. However, his excuse of not paying those he owed because of anxieties is so poor it doesn’t work as an excuse. That’s no justification not to pay people; feeling bad doesn’t stop you of obligated payments. If anything, I am thankful this man wasn’t able to embed himself in the club even further. In his short time he managed to run more than one ponzi scheme, divide the fanbase with his emotional manipulation, fail to resolve the debt issue to any degree and put us on the verge of losing our own ground. I dread to think how damaging it would be if he got his hands on the stadium.
I think most know it’s a tough situation, but most trust a local consortium to have our best interests at heart, which will steer them away from the shambolic communication and trust issues with Hilton. There will be more faith, as I cannot imagine Harness and co pursuing an ownership in the unprofessional manner as before. I don’t think we will have the self-pity, attacks on others, excuses and absolute nonsense which typified Hilton’s ownership. There’s finally optimism again.

herbylovesdave is a parody. The real Jason Herbert is now claiming to be working with the club to ban fans again.

October 4, 2023 at 7:47 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274676… that wretched owner will get no thanks for me for being one of two recent owners who have brought us to ruin.
Neither should be thanked. But we still have one that we must deal with to get ourselves back into best position, so it’s politically prudent to not aggravate him.
This is the argument, I understand. I am not sure how much attention Swann pays to Iron Bru forum members, but I don’t think the argument is from any sympathy to his ownership.
Mark – I agree that he almost did, but he didn’t and I said one of two owners in my last post to include him. Both him and Hilton have caused us to nearly die. The club was still salvageable in January. It still is, hopefully.

October 4, 2023 at 7:36 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274672Swann didn’t destroy our club, Hilton stepped in and could have saved it. He didn’t and nearly destroyed us.
I believe this is closer to the reality of it than anything else.
I’m no Swann apologist, but it was Hilton who actually had the opportunity to do good and right by the club and didn’t.
He did not ‘save it’ at all. He set it on a crash course.
He bitched and moaned about the previous owner, engaged in dubious social media PR, stoked division and incited others to make threats, sometimes behaving abominably when engaging with supporters himself. Let’s not forget he u-turned often and lied who knows when and how many times about who knows what. Gaslighting in extremis! We also don’t know if he actually did put any money in at all, or – as some suspect – just used the season ticket cash, the 1899 Ponzi, the turnstile income, the sponsorship deals and whatever else was lying around when he took over.
If Swann’s legacy was to bring the club into financial crisis and calamitous mismanagement, Hilton’s is to stoke divisions within the fans for his own ends. Even now we have fans calling others Swann lovers for making pragmatic posts about dealing with him. I think That Crazy New Yorker’s reply is closer to the truth and that wretched owner will get no thanks for me for being one of two recent owners who have brought us to ruin.

October 4, 2023 at 7:26 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274663I think it’s more a matter of it just being a polite word without it meaning much either way. As IB has said.
October 4, 2023 at 7:19 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274659I don’t think a word of politeness in a shortish statement is some great saving grace for Hilton. Swann didn’t destroy our club, Hilton stepped in and could have saved it. He didn’t and nearly destroyed us.

October 4, 2023 at 6:35 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274636” Credit to Simon for putting this deal together,” he didn’t Michelle did
Sorry. Poor wording. It should be for helping. Full credit to Michelle.
Do you ever post anything constructive or are you just out for stoking division and rambling on?
What are you on about? This has done a lot of favours, since we no longer have dodgy Dave in charge.
