Nice to see Bru posters raising their game and posts now mainly about football. Seems a couple of years at least since that was the case.
I think it’s more the case that there’s nothing to be concerned about with the board, unlike for the past two years. Those previously complaining don’t have a reason to any more, but they very much did under Swann and Hilton.

Great win. Clunan, Whitehall, Scales and Roberts (in the 2nd half, especially) were great. Shame Carlton blazed over that good chance to kill the game of, but can’t grumble, though some will try. The team must be thinking they’re in dreamland to be winning games like this.

Reading the responses from some, one would mistake us for having lost 3, scoring none and conceding 7. It’s early days, things might go pear shaped, but it’s not getting carried away to say it’s a good start.
We got good attendances while playing dour football under Jimmy last season. I see no reason why we won’t this season unless we start losing games. Fans are engaged because we are winning more and there is a feel good factor round the club, bar a selection of people grumbling on here. It will stop if we lose more, not because we aren’t playing a carbon copy of Man City or Barcelona.

Labour has never been a Marxist party. Certainly after it started winning elections. It has had Marxist elements, but it was always set as a broad church. Some of the decisions and policies enacted by Clem Attlee would have him labelled as a “red Tory” by some.

Is there any team that is like that at this level? Tamworth were comfortable champions last year, but hardly played like Man City and won games through slogging it out, based on a solid defence. What we have seen so far is 7 goals in 3 and 0 conceded. Some concerns, which need working on, but these messages of doom are odd.

Aye. I have been critical of Whitehall in this thread, but can acknowledge he has some very good qualities, as he did show towards the end of the game. It’s not about wanting him out of the squad or anything, it’s just an opinion based on part of the game where I felt he was weak. Ultimately, he did come good in the end and scored a goal and made an assist. Can’t grumble with that aspect at all. Beestin did score twice v Brackley and looked solid on Saturday. Carlton has promise too, so as games progress we will have to drop whoever is playing worst or contributing the least.
As for the performance, it was hard fought throughout and we know games are tough at this level. Many are solid and will look at shoring up their defence and scoring one against us on the counter. It may not have been outright dominance on Saturday, but I didn’t expect it to be. Ultimately, we came through and won, and did v Brackley. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
