    4 and away in 1.

Having to take part in a Tuesday night MMC (Mickey Mouse Cup) game will ‘piss off’ the four involved… it encroaches in to their evening/day off and restricts their recreational options.

    Rotate the four involved.
    Sub them after a minute.
Let them get straight off home to their wife’s/girlfriend’s and kids.
There’s no need for them to hang about.
    Job done.

    Any score predictions?
    [a bewildered face icon!]

At the end of each 90min game last season, Sunderland W1 D1, L2

    3 points for a win
2 points for a penalty win
1 point for a penalty loss
    0 points for a loss

    Boston 1-0 Sund
    Tamworth 1-4 Sund
    Gateshead 2-2 Sund (5-4 pens)
    Halifax 2-1 Sund

3.85 goals per game was the average across the entire ‘experiment’ last season.

Will we see the introduction of a revised points system in the PL & EFL in a couple of years time?

Is the death knell tolling for the drawn game?

    Rubbing salt in the wounds?

NLC games were free on NLTV last season… or until DAZN took over.

    Higher or Lower

The average attendance at the four away games of Sunderland U21s in last season’s NL Cup was 278.

Higher or Lower than 278 tonight?

    I’ll wait until tomorrow Cass.
I just hope that AB decides to go for it in every game.
    Let them worry about us.
We have a punchy, puissant offence which we need to maximise.

I’m going to change my 1-1 (steady Eddie) prediction.

    Let’s go for it:
    Lambs 1-3 Iron

    He who dares; wins!

Prepare to win, prepare for promotion.

It’s great to be back in the NL and playing ‘proper football’ !

You know we are back ‘in the mix’, as match odds and indeed, even correct score odds are available even before the day of the game.

For nearly every game these last couple of seasons we’ve had to wait until the day of the game for match odds – and until just an hour or two before kick off for the correct score odds.

In addition, we’ll be right up near the top of the list now.
No more scrolling down beyond San Marino’s Liga D, the Vatican Premier League and the Monaco Ladies League to find the NLN games.

    Hurrah!

Not sure about other prices, but I know it cost £14 for an early bird OAP ticket in the main stand last season, but is £16 now.

    14.2% hike in price
    3.6% inflation

National League calculator – input your match predictions to generate a week by week table… or just input the Irons fixtures

I did our fixtures and ended up on 58 points – which was fourteenth place last season.

A more realistic assessment by the Fylde Guy?:

    16th: Scunthorpe United
A week ago I had Scunthorpe a couple of places higher, but on reflection I think I may have been slightly overrating their squad.
Looking at the Iron’s squad there are plenty of players that are very capable of holding their own at National League level. The likes of Mark Beck and Danny Whitehall are proven goalscorers at this level previously and elsewhere they have a good amount of experience of the National League calling on players like Joe Rowley, Callum Roberts, Will Evans and Andrew Boyce. Mixed with promising youngsters like loanee Dubem Eze and Oli Ewing signed permanently from Leicester City there’s definitely potential there, but they’re also a way off being able to compete towards the top just yet. It will be interesting to see if Declan Howe can manage the step up after scoring almost 40 goals for Gainsborough Trinity at step three last season. Billy Chadwick returning once again on loan from York City is also a huge boost.
In managing their way through a tricky play-off campaign manager Andy Butler has shown that he’s capable of preparing his players well both physically and tactically for important games and I do see them being able to pick up more than enough wins to comfortably survive. Unfortunately though I think there are still limitations to their squad which will probably mean they aren’t challenging the top ten or play-off spot, but in their first season back the primary objective for the club is to ensure their survival in the National League as quickly and as stress free as possible. They’re certainly a club with big potential to get back into the EFL over the coming years, but it’s not going to be any time in the near future.

    4-4-2 say:

8th SCUNTHORPE – “They had to go through the play-offs, but the Iron are back in the National League – albeit without goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons, whose club-record 26 clean sheets earned him a move to League One Northampton.
Branden Horton brings National League pedigree, while there’s a chance for Declan Howe, who hit 67 goals in Gainsborough Trinity’s last two campaigns.
    8th placed
