Isn’t the deadline usually 1st July?
Yeah, the 1st of July is the start of every new season.
We’ve still the 26th to fill, so maybe Bradford away sure they’ll help us out.
And why would Matlock want to play us, they’ve got 3 sell out crowds already against Chesterfield, Derby and Mansfield at home, Scunny! who!
Never a fan of WHAM (sussed him from day one)… but that’s a good pre-season. Challenge them, stretch them; not to the point of injury or exhaustion – but to find out who’s going to cope and be your preferred starting 11 when the meaningful stuff starts.
You don’t want 6 over-easy games and then a season curtain lifter away at York or Forest Green.
Rabbits & headlights springs to mind.I’d have finished with Harrogate and Salford away.
Cleggy & Skeggy ain’t going to tell us anything.1 user thanked author for this post.
Bravo Bru!
Had a bit of a sesh. Not drunk but ‘merry’.
Just wondering if a new pitch is down yet?Skegg FC added.
Will we get out of second gear in any of these fixtures?Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

I ‘floated’ this one previously in one of the pre-signing Howe threads.
We’ve got the drummer, we’ve got Dec
To be sung after he scores… and at other times dictated by the claret & blue conductor.
Could be quite intimidating 4,000 fans chanting that during a game?Another great ‘chant’:
Eze are good, Eze are good
Dubem Eze are good.I love U turns.
Let’s get someone else then … lol1 user thanked author for this post.
I’d have Sam back.
I see Kelly is now with Boston.
Vardy lept up 3 levels back in the day.
Psycho Pearce made the leap from L6 to L1
And there’s me, thinking they’d found one of the star turns from the weakender (sic) semi comatose under the stand.
Nice to see the loyalty and how happy he is at the club, always there for the fans, waved the supporters coaches off when injured goes to away games when injured even commentates.
And he knows where the back of the net is.In Dan we trust.
Great day at the office by the club yesterday.1 user thanked author for this post.
I would hope it’s Whitehall/ Howe partnership with Carlton out wide and Dawson partnering Clunan. Beck for Whitehall for certain matches and when he’s injured or needs resting. Certainly promising.
We look venomous up front.
Glad you’re here to bring Rene back down to earth Awaywego.
20 apiece for those two boys this coming season!
I agree with everything that’s been said on this Forum about this young man, but I’m afraid you have more chance of seeing a pig flying over The Attis Arena than see this young man play there for Scunthorpe United. All the usual excuses for not signing him will be trotted out or there will be complete silence on the matter. An NL or a League 2 club will take a punt and 5 years from now he will be banging them in at a much higher level. And we will be left with what might have beens.
Oops… forgot about Carlton.
Happy with our strike force.
Got to be 4-4-2 … need a bit of steel in midfield and a creative LM.
And a lad to stand between the posts & play sweeper keeper.
We were all edging our ‘bets’
We’re going to be seeing him for two more years.
Pleased he’s staying. He scores goals!1 user thanked author for this post.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
At least we tried.
With yesterday’s footballing announcements, things are looking up.
It looks as if the BoD are learning and improving the Club.
Best of luck to the BoD, staff, players and the long suffering fans in 2025/26.Pair with Clunan in midfield and we are starting to look tasty!
Or with Danny up front leaving your love child on the bench?
4-2-2-2
Dan, Dec, Joey, BeckBeck as the 10 just behind D&D to flick on for them or to nod down for JoeD.
Two wing backs who step up in to midfield when we’ve got possession (2–4-2-2) or effectively a 2-4-4 when attacking.
At breakdown, JoeD drops in to midfield, making us 4-3-1-2, if they retain possession for a period then Beck drops in as well making us 4-4-2
Proof positive that AB spends a large portion of his life on Bru?
We are after all, the 12th man.
Would have had a better ring to it if we’d signed Anthony from Man Utd!
Ant & Dec.
As WG and numerous others have stated many times before, we need an enforcer for CM. In addition, we need a creative midfielder who can unlock defences for Dan & Dec to exploit.
I’m thinking Stan may be thinking of playing JoeD in midfield?, he’s played there before.
If CR10 re-signs then that’ll be like signing a new player. Fingers crossed on that one.
If we can unearth someone of a similar ilk to CR10 for the other side then we’ll be offensively potent. For 2026/27?
Callum Howe – he’d be a great accusation for us at this level. Knows it (the level) and has done it before.
He’s obviously a big part in York’s plans – but if he became available. Twice named in the National League ‘Team of the Year’ – one to bring back when his contract expires?Lewis Butroid, under contract for 2025/26 but we should keep an eye on him this season. He had a cracker for Trinity in 2024/25.
Yup, it’s a great start. Bravo SUFC.
If CR10 stays, then it’s happy days. -
