Ah, but that makes me an evil public sector vampire. Sucking the life blood out of the treasury!

I’m wondering who these left-leaning individuals are who tell Bucks they are morally superior to him?

    Anyone any ideas?

“What we need is someone to list all the promises that Peter has made – and kept – to the supporters of the Iron”

Well that won’t take long! In fact….

    …. There! I’ve done it.

If these debts are historic, going back to 2018, then perhaps that’s when the club should have been sold. When it was a much more viable proposition, and was not complicated by EFL loans and non-league status.

Unsurprisingly the last four years have been a nightmare for both Swann and Iron fans.

I don’t know why he wants to drag it out? He’s certainly not going to cover his losses. So in that respect I agree with the OP. He should cut and run!

The sale of the club has reached an impasse. No budget for new players.

What is there to be said?

    West Cumberland Farmers Ltd?

I would go as far as to say if we’d had an experienced keeper in the Gilks/Howard mould we might not be propping up the rest of the league!

Blyth is like an old Div 3(N) ground from the fifties. Covered “shed” standing to three sides and compact stand with seating containing the offices/changing rooms etc. Friendly, accommodating club house detached from the concourse (you need an old club style pass out ticket to move between the two).

Again, not really geared up for more than a couple of hundred away fans, so would be interesting. However they could well go down this year as they’ve been teetering for a while.

Spennymoor similar. I didn’t get this year and they were doing building works before Covid. So not sure regarding facilities.

Both clubs are in small towns that have suffered from the closures of mines and industries and fairly run-down.

Not been to Darlo’s current home but my mate reckons it pretty tidy.

    Indeed.

The words “agreed to by the government and unions” are telling too!

Whatever the reason, it was done badly.

Miners were given little notice of closure and minimal help.

In the summer of 2007 Germany instigated a ten year programme to wind down unprofitable mines: –

“The German government is set to phase out unprofitable coal mines by 2018, according to a plan agreed to by the government and unions in August. The plan does not come cheaply; the federal and state governments will provide some 21.6 billion euros to help miners with the transition.”

    Bit of a difference eh?

As much Qatari corruption as EU methinks.

The decision to award them the World Cup was always likely to open a can of worms

Bucks’s post could have been written by Thatcher or Tebbit.

Good effort that man. I closed my eyes and could almost hear the voice of Billy Bragg!

“NI, where exactly did I say that the Tory Government doesn’t waste money? I didn’t, so please don’t suggest otherwise.”

I didn’t suggest otherwise Captain Gaslight.

I was merely pointing out that it starts at the top!

“It’s the state that’s particularly good at wasting money whether it’s being run by the Tories or Labour.”

Twelve years and counting since we had a Labour(ish) government so your “the state is to blame” comment falls firmly on the Tory doorstep.
