Of course there is a downside to all of this.
Expect training ground injuries to continue!
But they’ll be spot on when they chant “Shit ground; no fans!”
Maybe in hindsight the Nottinghamshire dick-flasher was a better option!
If we’re the only Northern club going down then there’ll be some juggling done in NL(N).
Could be travelling further south than Banbury and Gloucester!
The alternative is
Reckon that would be. Phoenix Club, Wimbledon stylee!
UTI99 will be along shortly with a “bring back the Swanns” thread.
I’ll bet they’re pissing themselves laughing at some of the comments above.
Hilton has tore the heart out of scunthorpe united’s community.
HILTON has???
Nah! Off to The Schooner!
Probs walk in along the river from Newcastle with my lad if he can blag the afternoon off.
Shite stadium to watch football in, and we’ll be sent over to the far side too.
Bound to lose, so not looking forward to it.

Don’t often subscribe to Rene’s ramblings, but as I said on another thread, Dean is a non league manager. And not even proven at NLP & NLN level.
To expect him to come in and turn five years of failings around in less than half a season was a ridiculous ask. Hilton appointed him poste haste after taking over, and in hindsight that looks like folly.
Hilton himself has no previous experience of L2/NL club ownership, so perhaps it shouldn’t come as any real surprise.
I guess it’s rather like expecting your local garage to service a Typhoon Fighter.
Out of their depth, and insufficient time to learn!

And get another Mourinho wannabe?
We’ll be trapped in the vortex for the foreseeable future!
Some people seem to forget that non-league managers are just that!
They’re not doctors, dentists, solicitors, university professors or captains of industry.
Just glorified PE teachers, that indeed may have failed Ofsted!
Thought Matt had posted that the takeover wasn’t due for completion until the end of May?

Wrexham have announced losses of £3 million!
Oh, btw it’s cygnets, not goslings. Unless we’re talking about the goose that laid the golden egg!
Well my pension has gone in!

Wot! No Jordan Hallam?
Dunno about anyone else but I’d much rather the new owner did his talking via the team on the pitch rather than through hypothetical ideas on the future of the club.
Come May, once the dust has settled on this strange season, the chairman and his staff can sit down and begin to put forward a strategy.
I can wait another 4-6 weeks.

Under contract till 2024 so would need a fee, 75 mins is fine for the class act you get.
According to a Hilton interview a few weeks ago only Chapman and Elliott are contracted beyond this season, the rest are “playing for contracts.”
Does anybody at the club know what is going on, conflicting information in so many areas, a bit of honesty/clarification wouldn’t go amiss! Was he talking about the players brought in since the takeover, or the whole squad?
I’d have thought the former.
Not such an enjoyable ride when you’re in Third Class!
(One for our older railway enthusiasts)
If he wanted fans to contribute why not start with a manager who’s not useless and can learn about more than one formation? play entertaining football and get them through the gate is the first step to getting them interested – so many wasted opportunities with large followings. Owner and manager both come from part time football and it shows
Agree with the last sentence, which explains why he didn’t think Dean was useless.
Hilton has been proactive inasmuch as he’s thrown a lot of resources at try to keep the club in this division. Can’t fault the effort even if the decision making has been questionable.
He’s done the same with the 1899 “incentive”. Huge ask to expect 1899 individuals to fork out £1,899 and it looks like it’s not going to bring in the revenue required to completely buy out the previous owner.
Is there a Plan B?

Precisely!
It looks like a new owner and manager coming in with the club bottom of the league and throwing everything at staying up despite neither having any previous experience of such a situation.
And that’s exactly what’s happened.
I’d go after my original choice of Craig Elliot currently performing miracles at Buxton in the NLN.
Isn’t that basically what we did when we brought in Dean?

There’s a reason he’s played most of his games in NLN.
Not saying he can’t do a job for us, but he’s no Sharp, Hooper or Madden!
The way we’re playing I reckon the training facilities must have been sold off months ago!
I’ve probably seen Elliott play more than most on here as I usually take in a few Chester games each season.
A don’t think he’s as good as some posters are making out. Had a good season for Boston in NLN but has been patchy elsewhere.
Okay he scored 5 in 7 on loan at the Heed. A purple patch? Yes, but it was only seven games. We’ll never know if he could have maintained that over the course of a season.
Decent at this level? Perhaps. The prolific striker that will single-handedly save our season? No way! Especially the way Dean is setting up the team.
By all means start him against Torquay, but don’t expect miracles.
It’s been out of our hands for weeks if not months now.
Every win for Torquay/Gateshead/Dorking drives another nail into our coffin.
Ethan will feel right at home!
Expected goals graph made me laugh!
Had enough Contes in charge of this club!
