He does seem genuinely contrite in the latest statement. The initial one had the feel of being written for him.
Exchange for Delaney I hope.
I would love to see Delaney here next season but the swap is not a possibility.
Giving players of the season a contract is not the way we do things here Cass.

We certainly haven’t looked much like footballers these last 4 seasons NI but I don’t think it’s the kit to blame though.
That aside it would be nice to turn out in a proper kit with a version of the unity badge. This is probably more appropriate than it ever has been if we are to recover from the hole we find ourselves in.
His names Rory Watson and we have a love hate relationship with him.
Always been a great shot stopper but the rest of his game has taken a while to catch up.
He won pretty much all of our player of the season awards but given our season perhaps don’t read too much into that.
You will get a wide range of opinions on Rory but personally I think he is now decent and would expect him to continue to get better. Certainly worth the £0 he will cost you.
They probably realise more than many footballers why it it is still relevant.
Yems always seemed a bit of a twat even before the racist allegations.

Had quite a few that have been woeful one season and woeful the next.

Much easier for Hill to ignore the likes of Jarvis, KDT and Perry as he had nothing to do with bringing them here or giving them 2 year contracts.
Let’s face it none of them have done anything to suggest they can perform at L2 or National League level. If they won’t agree to pay offs we should be trying to get them season long loans in tiers 6 or 7 to cut our losses.
As with many things Swann and Cygnet can have all the credit for those 3 doozies.
Hill’s honeymoon ends at 17:00 next Saturday so I think it’s fair to be judging Nuttall and a few others a bit more critically from then on.

It’s all about opinions of course but I don’t think it’s lack of effort with Nuttall. He had barely played a game in th 18 months before he came here. That’s how we were able to get him.
He had no fitness and even less confidence. He has sorted out the fitness but confidence for a striker means scoring some goals. Difficult to do in a side like ours that creates so few chances.
My frustration (and those that sit around me) on Saturday is that for a big strong looking lad he gets bullied to easily by centre backs. He looks as if he should be bullying them and he doesn’t. Of course he missed a very good chance after good work by Wilson in the first half. He possibly took the wrong option with the opportunity in the second half but I expect centre forwards to back themselves when in that position.
Hooper and Sharpe used to miss chances but they often got 4 or 5 opportunities in a game. Nuttall has had 4 or 5 since he arrived.
Yes he should apologise to fans if he raised a finger but it shows the fellow cares and was, I’m sure angry and frustrated with himself.
There is a player in there and with a full pre-season, a few decent chances and half a dozen goals under his belt I think he could not only do well next season but become a saleable asset.
I would still like to see a bit more devil in him though.
Knew you were joking when you bigged up that tosser Grant.

I would file it in the same bin all of his other promises ended up in.
I see it as gearing up for “We couldn’t build a competitive team because the fans did not back us” quickly followed by “No-one credible came in to buy the club” (translation: no-one was daft enough to cover my losses and then invest enough to drag the club out of the shite).
Finally we will get the “No alternative but to put the club into administration and sell my land to a developer.”

I’m no expert on company law but I think it means someone is looking to mortgage the ground. It seems to be Swann himself as the request is by Coolsilk but I don’t know if the charge and or subsequent mortgage can be transferred to a third party.
There is a big difference between investment and speculation.
I suggest our absentee landlord did very little of the former and multi million pounds of the latter.
The speculation was all based on a misplaced confidence in his own judgement but he would now like his money back.
It’s not likely to end well for Mr Swann or for the Iron.

I am sure we will all have different views about which or indeed if any of the out of contract players that we should keep.
However it won’t be a long list of people happy that we are obliged to keep Taft, Millen, O’Neil, Hallam and Perry.
The infamous transfer committee keeps on giving.

Never drink anything that gives you a hangover before it gets you drunk.
You can get good lager type beer without a cocktail of chemicals. You just have to make sure it was brewed in Germany or Czech Republic.
Must have the same agent as Hallam. Maybe cygnet has been moonlighting as an agent.
Feeney and Nuttall were the ones from the January joiners that were reportedly on deals for next season.
Not sure about Thompson, Rowe and O’Malley.
I think Grant was only until the end of the season and Hill seems to have given up on him.
Beeston I would like to keep now he is returning to some level of fitness.
Gallimore and Cribb worth a deal. Wilson and Shrimpton possibly – not seen enough of them yet.
Let’s hope it’s not the funeral march.
April 23, 2022 at 6:59 pm in reply to: Keith – ‘some didn’t want to play today fearing injury’ #236301Just a thought but is this deflection from a manager that has seen his left back roasted for 70 minutes and then brings the clubs best left back off the bench into right midfield to replace the days best performing midfield player.
Who refused to play who might have got a game anyway? Perry? The German? Nuttall? Why was he on the bench then?
Bollocks Keith. I know you were dealt a bad hand but I think it’s time to fold.

A whole new level of shite today bu the way. It’s a very long hard road ahead even if the landlord does do one.
I remember an away game at Walsall when we had 3 shots on target and Walsall had about 10.
We won 4-1. I think Tom Hopper scored a couple that day.
Doesn’t matter how many lottery tickets you buy. Only winning tickets are worth anything.

Definitely Fox Street. Some things you just can’t unsee or forget.
It’s helped me with something that has bugged me ever since I saw Tyrone O’Neil play earlier in the season. As Shankly once said he has deceptive pace. He’s even slower than he looks.
I knew O’Neil reminded me of an old Iron player. Now I realise it was Rusling.
Tries real hard but painfully slow and can’t finish. I do believe we still have the pleasure of loaning him out again next season.
April 21, 2022 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236206Even in what has been a poor league 2 season quality of football wise I dont recall any team whose main tactic is hoofball to a big man.
Apart from us of course except we don’t have a big man and we don’t challenge for second balls.
The days of crazy gang and John Beck tactics are no more.
We might see it a bit more in the National League but in the half dozen or so games I have watched on BT the standard of football is alarmingly high.
April 20, 2022 at 1:12 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236112But we did have 1 shot on Monday and the Easter Bunny hit the jackpot.
April 20, 2022 at 1:10 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #2361113 or 4 long shots in 1 go there JP.
Not the worst this season but another poor referee today.
Makes you wonder how bad they are going to be in the division below.
