I would first like to say that I don’t approve of racist abuse, less still monkey chanting. But I also don’t like this ‘taking the knee’ business.
Personally I won’t boo this, I would simply turn my back on the players while they do it.

Re the penalty. My ma always said ‘never look a gift horse in the mouth.’
Here’s to a few more like that as this new teams battles to surpass all our expectations.
Perhaps Harry Wood will grow up to be a Kane?

I still think that to sack the manager again will solve nothing. The fault lies with Peter Swann, and only his removal and the recovery of the assets he has taken will even scratch the surface.

August 26, 2021 at 12:49 pm in reply to: At what point do we consider the manager is the problem? #212634He inherited a team of players in the last years of their contracts, who were simply not interested last year. Subsequently they were all released and Cox was allowed to bring in his own men, as long as they didn’t cost anything. The problem isn’t Cox, it is the asset stripping Furher who is blaming the players, the manager, the staff and the fans. Everybody is to blame except the one who is (and has been) totally responsible.
To summarise. I have lost count of how many managers have been fired in the last fifteen years. A knee jerk reaction that solves absolutely nothing.

It was James Moody and Alex Kenyon in the Radio Humberside Bay doing commentary, Kenyon has a scouse accent so I will let you guess who was doing the main bit because I didn’t hear it, I had a little chat with Alex before the game and he is a real nice bloke to talk to, he said he is nearly fit to play now.
Not definitely fit to play yet then?

Well done Marty for putting a complaint in, if no one says anything nothing will change, at least your trying, if everyone tried a bit of direct action things might change, Oldham fans are trying various actions, the first failed miserably a group organised a home attendance boycott but ended up getting more in than previous opening day fixture, they ended that one and blamed coved and lack of tickets for away games, the second one went rather better with the pitch invasion on Saturday that has got everyones attention, media wise as well as an fa investigation. Posters on here have a lot to say, it’s about time they backed it up.
I would advise caution, as that post looks dangerously close to inciting a pitch invasion.

Not as many real pubs down here these days, I usually head out of town for a drink as it’s much cheaper. If I was stood there at the bar waiting to be served, and the staff were not serving anyone else, I would lean over the bar and in a slightly louder voice I’d say ‘excuse me!’ If that didn’t work I’d raise my voice until I got their attention. They’re bar staff, and probably have other jobs elsewhere. Insist upon service and you will surely get it.
If all of the afore mentioned problems are to do with Swann lowering the value of the club. Then he may well sell it to Coolsilk in a bonfire sale…
I remember one time last year, I was fuming because I couldn’t get my commentary. Imagine the embarrassment when I realised I had the volume turned to zero on my iPhone!!
Aye but which goalkeeper is Cox’s first choice? I know loan players should play whenever available, but that has not always been the case at the iron. Also I ask this because Watson has been given the number one shirt.
Is he the player that was spotted with the ‘man bun’ in his hair. Ifso then he will have been introduced to his team mates some time ago. I hope so, because that would mean he has been here and about the team.
I’m actually looking forward to the match tomorrow, it’s been a while I’ll tell you.
I hope young Scrimshaw gets some game time. Even more so if he can start to build a rock solid partnership with our Loftie.

I wonder how long it will be before the new lad is unveiled?
I used to work there and know my way around very well. That’s why I know the place, and it’s people.
Great reply Lord… must have taken you a while to add such thought out opinions
A very good and truthful article.
For what it’s worth I would say as more articles are written from people with no association with the club about the awful situation we are in then maybe more people will sit up and realise we are potentially on the edge of a cliff here!!
My opinion of Worthing requires no time to write, it really is a sh*t hole….
It would be interesting to know who wrote this and if Ian is just a pseudonym for a local journo as he seems quite au fait with what’s going, he may even read this board.
He’s a blogger from Worthing who has been writing about clubs in trouble for over a decade. I believe he did a number of articles chronicling the decline of Boston back in the day.
Worthing is a carsie so any opinion from that place is to be ignored.
Can’t agree about Green, maybe shite against Swindon but played well against Rochdale, but should have shot instead of crossing when he was in a far better position near the end.
I like Green on the wing, not trying to be a forward it doesn’t work. Stick him out wide and let him run at defenders and stick the crosses in like he did when he first arrived at The Iron.
Andy Carroll
Even at the age of 32, I would be surprised if we can afford his wages. Capped 9 times for England? We would all surely be impressed to see him in a Scunthorpe shirt!

We all made the choice to support our local (ex) team. Most of us did this during our very long tenure in what was Division 4, having to be re-elected on more than one time when we finished bottom. Other than a short time n the early 70’s (before my time), and an even shorter time in the early 80’s under John Duncan, we have never had a better couple of decades than the last.
One thing I am sure of, is that The Iron will continue in this downward spiral without the support of its fans.

I knew it wouldn’t take long, and it is the typical knee jerk reaction that is played out on this board year in year out. How many managers can we afford to keep hiring them paying off?
Disappointed that the op didn’t entitle this thread ‘Cox Out!’

I would have thought that he reads some of the posts on this board. So it could be worth telling him directly.
So come on Swanny, get your bloody finger out!

Well I emailed IFollow who simply told me that I didn’t have an active subscription. This was an outrageous lie.
As it stands right now it says I can listen to the next match, before that it said I could listen today.I have sent them a relevant screenshot.

Yeah on another thread, missed the whole game.
I’m not accessing any video, and still can’t get any kind of commentary. :(
How do I get away commentary? As of now I’m getting nothing at all…
I remember waiting near the gate at Millwall after Gary Hooper gave us a 2-1 win and a young fellow giving the Millwall fans grief as they walked past and thought I hope for god’s sake I hope them lot aren’t waiting at the station for a punch up, but luckily they didn’t.
Seen a few of our fans ejected from the ground for upsetting Millwall fans. Seems they have a spotter in the crowd nearest to where away fans are located, just looking for anyone who could start those years off every match.
I played a blinder one evening at the New Den. We had just come back from one nil down to beat Millwall two one. After the match I was on my way to the train station, but missed my turning. Across the road Millwall fans were singing, so I took my jacket off so they could see my football shirt and started singing Up the Iron. Next thing I was surrounded by coopers and Millwall fans. I had to be escorted back to that small ally way. Then one iron fan told me that he and his mates had my back. F**k that!!
He works for MUTV somehow. Has done for years.
Thank you for that, I never would have guessed. I doubt he earns a fraction of what he could back in his flash Harry days.
Footballers seem to follow different rules to the rest of us, just like their managers, they can be fired and just simply move on to another club.
Ron Atkinson is a case in point. He did and said whatever he wanted as a player and manager. But when he forgot to turn the mic off as a television pundit, that was it, bang gone never to be heard from again. I doubt he could get a job as the back end of a horse of donkey in a panto.
