It seems very quiet on the takeover, odd little rumour about the bidding party having passed the FA fit and proper person test.

Other than that zilch. Does anybody actually know who the group is ie names.

Also if the bidders wanted to avoid publicity why would they let Ernie announce there even was a bid.

Beginning to think there is no bid and it’s just another ruse to get the fans back on board and continue Mr Turnbull’s successful rebuilding of moral on and off the field, without the negative shadow of Ernest Pawn undermining things.

I have no issue with the rebuilding of the club and as we have a silent owner I for one would prefer him to be err silent.

Maidenhead played the ball on the floor and ran at our defence pinpointing Taft and O’Malley in particular. They scored with their first two attacks putting the ball in the six yard box exactly where goals are scored.

Two of their goals were scored on the goal line far too simply.

We had a lot of good chances hitting the bar and post as well as scoring a well placed penalty and a classic header into the box from a good cross.

The worry for me was how often we pumped the ball high and long for Nutall.

We should learn from Maidenhead who played the ball through the channels and on the ground.

A reliable rail service nothing to do with football give over, first away game, near to London, loads won’t be there tomorrow who would normally have gone. Everything to do with football without the fans what’s the point?

One or two posts fair enough but hijacking a thread and morphing it into a political debate centring around the rail system is a piss take.

    It’s a bit much.

    Dear Wondergoals

Awaywego does this with every thread he is either an extremely intellectual “agent provocateur” or a right thick C###!

I read his diatribe regularly as in every thread he partakes in, but in respecting freedom of speech we/I accept his right to post. Every so often he over steps the mark which deserves a factual, homework researched, in-depth, response to correct the balance.

For the record you post as an informed, this is as it is, take it or leave it real authority on all things Scunthorpe United FC. You even have the ability to canvass and form opinion on who we should sign or even become the next manager etc, etc. Often these suggested appointments suddenly occur!!!!!!!!!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm my mind is tickled!

You are given the same freedom and benefit as Awaywego, whom I believe to be the latter by the way.

I hope you can read the lines and between them. xx

If your rumours are true that others have walked away can only be a good thing, we want someone who is committed to the club not someone who gives up at the first hurdle, most deals fail because the buyer can’t come up with the finance not being fed bullshit, just look at the Derby saga.

As ever you spectacularly miss the point and wonder off on a tangent all of your own.

You could throw yourself at the floor and miss.

Grant Shapes recieves £84,144 basic salary in May of this year he received a payrise of £2,212. He also received £71,673 as minister of state in the cabinet. A whopping £155,817.

Average train driver salaries £24,000-£60,000 depending on experience.

If you take away the right to protest (strike in this case) the gap will widen between the well paid few and a better paid many.

The French manage to protest extremely well and retire at 62 the Macron government tried to raise this to 64 amidst much national protest, theirs remains 62. Ours went up from 65 to 66 and soon to be 67 without even the bat of an eyelid.

MP pensions are based on final salary and paid at 65. Mr Shapps has a personal fortune of £1.2 million and has his own private jet.

If anybody thinks Mr Shapps gives a flying f### about train travellers or train driver salaries they are much mistaken and to curb the right to protest about anything is detrimental the democratic process, which is being slowly eroded anyway.

That’s why the fuel bill for the 400 mile round trip to Maidenhead from Scunthorpe will cost circa £70. Diesel/petrol prices at the forecourt are being artificially held up in line with other energy costs.

Maybe we should worry more about 9:1% inflation on everything, fuel bills of over £3000 per annum. The £200 rise in NI contributions per person since April 1st this year then 100,000 Train drivers getting 7% still below the current rate of inflation.

Might I also suggest that the payrise be paid for out of the additional 4.5 billion for Crossrail up from 14.5 billion to 18.5 billion.

In December 2020 the Government agreed £825 million finance deal with Tfl, the then transport secretary was a one Grant Shapps.

Who by the way is a complete tosser, I would be very disappointed if Ernie is not a Tory, the similarities are too numerous to mention.

Awaywego as usual misses most of the point or all of it, then comes back with a comment both in support and against something.

Centrica has announced record profits of 1.34 billion, so why are we paying such high energy bills, especially when only 5% of our domestic gas supply comes from Russia?

As for Maidenhead we can always go by car at £10 a gallon.

On the 13th of August they are!.

Good its time to stand up to these billionaires who dont give a flying fuck about the common working man, rising prices, house fuel bills, petrol/diesel prices, inflation at 9% and rising, no spare income to go to Maidenhead or any other London centric ground, public transport services we get 20 metre strip of tarmac whilst Cross Rail cost 18 billion and rising.

Nuttall spent most of Saturdays friendly against Peterborough in the channel he won’t reach single figures out there let alone double.

Taft v Rochdale was clearly out of his depth and either made mistakes for their goals or was slow to react to danger or cover the left fullback.

Looked a lot better on Saturday alongside Boycee.

Not a big Rowe fan who crumbles when people run directly at him.

Agree about Paddy’s scoring and form, he was clearly pissed off here.

Subsequently I have been pissed off that we do not have a goal scorer let alone a regular one.

The issue was not replacing him.

Has anyone factored in COVID and Bolton Wanderers from Ernie’s excuses.

Ernie fails to factor in umpteen crap managers, selling Aduleken, Holmes,Townsend and Wallace and not replacing them quality wise.

Oh and selling Paddy Madden our last regular goalscorer to be replaced by nobody able to score more than 10 in any season. Or as currently a team unable to score 10 between them.

Ernie did not lose interest he simply fails to deliver on anything, his attention and money was diverted to the Sands Venue, a multi-million investment of a 5 star hotel in errr Blackpool the home of B&Bs stag n hen weekends and scotch week. Popular for donkies, kiss me quick hats and rock!

Blackpool also once had the worse ever football club chairman!!!!!!

I wonder if he will bring on a centre-half to play in midfield in the closing minutes to make it easy to draw, just in case we are losing?

Something is amiss, Ernie kept saying the fans don’t want him here, when normally he has blustered through with “when you are the chairman you are there to be shot at,” or “in all walks of life when you are in a position of responsibility or leadership there are always people who want to have a go,” Usually followed up with “I have broad shoulders and can take whatever people throw at me.”

I don’t believe he is any nearer to selling the club, just setting up the fans to depart and blame us for not wanting him.

Just a thought, oh and for good measure the consortium will pull out because the fans were ungrateful.

Somebody has put an amalgamation on facebook about Ernest’s intentions going forward, but it is 3/4 theories based on rumour.

It seems to suggest Ernie still wants to press ahead with the flats which is stalling on any sale.

It reads bad but even Ernie is not stupid enough to retain the club at £80k per week loss to reclaim profits in 3 years time, basically any profits from the flats would be eaten away in the losses prior to that. Also surely no one with a modicum of business accumen would enter a financial arrangement which allowed Peter an element of control?

Reveal the new kit one day, and order the next kit the day after to ensure it is here in time for the close season and summer holiday period.

The club would then sell more to season ticket holders as they first buy their tickets and then come to collect them.

It’s another Iron folly for some reason you cannot collect your plastic card as you pay for it!

    I have stopped asking………..

I have it on good authority from poor mans Damien Lewis lookalike Bax Mell that
apparently the box’s (and it comes from a good sauce within the club) contained various models of Ernest Pawn so that he can be in the Directors Lounge at home games.

One version was an avatar which unfortunately gave Ernest a blue tinge which could not be scrubbed off, also with Ernest being a tad rotund the Avatar tail had a tendency to pop out the back of an old suit from one of Blackpool’s finest tailors Primarni.

Another version was a blow up type which made Ernest look like he had been purchased from a sex shop, it did not help that the club ordered the realistic version with several open orifices that could be used, further problems were noticed in that the arms were in such a position that it made him look like he wished to dance with everyone.

Another trial was in 12 mm ply-board which although very realistic did not look good in a suit.

The chosen version was a cardboard cut-out which unfortunately for Ernest was assembled wrong, the bottom half of Karin’s cardboard cut-out was attached to the top half of Ernest leaving said cut-out not only looking like a #### but talking like one as well.

The person responsible thought to be the ginger girl in the ticket office has now been signed to play up front with our other striker who cant be revealed because he is launching the new kit which should be in the shops for Easter.

Glandford Park ground was built undersize somebody measured the OSG pitch and used that footprint.

The other 6 ft of shale along each side was never taken into account therefore we actually got less then we paid for, a full 12 ft less of concrete and seating along each side and 12 ft less across each end.

The smaller playing area has contributed to the shite football we watch where surprisingly the away team each week manages to cope but we don’t!

It’s like the replica kit saga another absolute shambles. Who dreams up these own goals time after time?

The hardcore home support base is down by two thirds of what is was under Graham Alexander.

It’s like somebody sits there thinking what can we possibly do to piss another tranche of supporters off. Hey look we have served up some absolute drivel on the pitch for a few years and they are still here.

Look 30 miles up the road and it’s a different story on and off the field, Ernest Pawn needs to go so people can be brought in with commercial nous and good business acumen.

Our club stinks from top to bottom and I cannot think of a single positive for some considerable time. My loyalty to Scunthorpe United is paramount and unwavering but I dislike everything about the club.

I will not be driven away by the egotistical narcissist wanker responsible.

PS I won’t be buying a replica shirt anyway it’s f……g embarrassing being an Iron supporter without advertising it.

But where should a striker play IronKing???

I want mine in and around the box ready to score.

It’s the one position where tracking back is not really high on my agenda

Centre-spot to penalty spot, don’t want them in the channels or back for corners, want them working both centre-halves with most of their work done in both the 6 and 18 yard boxes where the ball should be put.

Goals are mainly scored from inside the boxes so don’t see the point of strikers chasing the channels. That’s for midfielders, wingers or full backs.

Shearer was a box player hence the number of goals he scored.

Does some really sterling work actually if anybody is watching, unfortunately its in the channels attacking or defending throw-ins.

Can’t remember Cammy, Greeny, Killer, Flopper, Sharpy or Hoops doing any of that, no they preferred to play down the centre. Just imagine how many more goals they might not have scored if they did!!!!!!!
