i presume these two swift signings are JDs choices ???? ..hope so as hopefully will the next few , at least then hes getting his chance to full fill Mr Hiltons job requirements on his own merit .. hey imagine if his signings and football turn out to be a huge success what will all the JD out party whinge at then … of course he may also fail miserably ..but really hope thats not the case 10 games into the season.

    UTI ..lets remain positive gents

After a bit of delving watched a few clips Whitehall seems a decent signing , a handful that will score goals (remember one of them cast your mind back)also the fact many EFC fans were hoping he was retained n stayed bodes well … nice to get some new faces in early lets hope it continues.
Will try n find details on Kelly today, again well though of at the Spitfires.

Huge club n fan base errmmmmmm really ??

Nice to get back to some football talk…fingers crossed all goes well at the forum n issues can get clarified then the deal sorted on or before 24th May.

Scunthorpe United is a football club , its a fans forum so questions should be about the club the plans moving forward and its future ..i dont give a rats arse what Hilton has done in the past and what good will it do fans delving into his past i want the deal to go through and the club to survive and prosper for the benefit of the town and all involved including staff and supporters.

Im not privvy to any inside info just hope the very negative things we are hearing be it truth gossip rumour or fact dont happen as the thought of ground sharing , going bust would be a disaster for so many.

Not long to wait to find out more info via the forum ..then on to the 24th May deadline

I try not to dwell on the past as its a tad depressing , there are loads of players that have been mediocre whilst at Scunny but once moved on n ripped it …

On the other side of the coin.. its not always this way

    Hallam 1 game in 3 years :)
Big Gerry Mac 1 in 1 …then left
Lavery into Donny reserves (i think)
    etc

Never forget KVV goal at the Cods plaice .. still watch it over quite often to this day

Twould be a decent ground for the league we’re in.

You were at South Shields Awaywego.

And that was Nothern Premier League. Bit of a step up from QP don’t you think?

If you want to climb the mountain you need the right equipment!

Last sentence a very good analogy … i might add you need the right financial backing, strong well organized leadership ,sherpas and team also or its a long n rocky climb with the possibility of an avalanche along the way.

Will the 1899 club thingy be called “The 50 or so club “and where will they all go?

Good question and just another issue that needs clarification as im guessing if the deal goes through all tickerty Boo quite a few more may buy into the 1899 gig.

Twould be a decent ground for the league we’re in.

When i lived in Scunny Quibel park was a cycling veledrome with a very small stand on only one side …has it been developed in the last 23 years ? ..
It may make an ok training facility but surely not first team home games ??

I think it will be worth getting down to the fans forum if you can. The timing of it suggests Hilton is either going to announce the deal will complete without a hitch or that it has hit the buffers.

I am not privy to any inside info but I decided to wait before committing to a season ticket, which gives you some indication of how I think it may unfold.

Your last sentence is precisely the reason i advised my daughter n family to hang fire re buying a season ticket until the GP issue is resolved .. they decided to buy and im guessing if Hiltons deal hits the rocks and therefore playing elsewhere she /they wont be very happy.

How many season tickets has the club sold and how will those already buying them feel if any problems arise re playing at GP ..

No doubt Mr Hilton may of had a change of heart or unable to find the funds required so will Scunthorpe witness a public lynching on the 17th OR a celebration on or before 24th May ??

a few days n all will be revealed…patience the order of the day until then.

No i had not .. sad news , he was a regular away day lad in the mad van .. must of been about my age too, not sure if he went to Foxhills

So you went to Foxhills? Who was your form teacher? Mine was Pete Write. Class of 83…

Now your asking lemme think with my old dusty memory..

My form teacher was Mr Mcclellen
Maths Mr White wore an old smelly 3 pc suit, greasy hair.
    Science pin head Robins
    French Ms Mac
Art big fella cant recall his name
Games i can picture him but not a name
Form room was in the old Rozla block very handy to nip out to that corner shop on Reg rd side

    i left in 81

They never shut up about the tragedy chanting, but not a word on their fans booing the national anthem.

    Agree ….

Scousers Gone down in my estimations ..

Yes i am a royalist but dont have an issue with anyone that isnt .. booing your national anthem is out of order.

Disappointed to see Jordan Hallam leave, thought he was worth another 2 year contract at the very least.

Yes agree ..but look on the bright side , DH can save a few quid for a service on his new motor and lay off one Physio and sell the treatment table Hallam had called his own for years.

Im still trying to get my head round another regular crockaholic in Rance staying possibly on 1500 quid a week whilst Whitehouse has been shown the door.

By the time a few of the contracted players have jumped ship ie Ogle n Butterfield etc the squad will be pretty much rag tag n bobtail misfits as the topic header suggests.

19 players on the books at this stage then.

    Jimbob’s misfits (end of contracts):

    Ben Richards-Everton
    Colin Daniel
    Daniel Gallimore
    Elliott Whitehouse
    George Taft
    Jack Moore-Billam
    Jordan Hallam
    Liam Feeney
    Mason O’Malley
    Sean Shields.

So we had a 35 man squad at NL.
That’s 21 players being paid not to play each game – assuming 3 substitutions are made in each game.
    21 players!
I bet the physios love big squads with a few sick notes in them – keeps them in a job.
A 24 man squad next season should suffice?
    Let’s save a few quid!

Whitehouse should be kept and maybe Shields BRE .. Rance binned

TBH after the disaster season weve just experienced im fed up of trying to work out who we will start next season with as non of JDs decisions make much sense to me from his arrival Taft n Whitehouse faces didnt fit ..i thought the idea is the let JD sign his own players not chuck a few newbies in with the left overs from this bunch .. if thats what happens then it will go even more pear shaped.

I am not hopeful or remotely confident in how things appear to be heading .. talk is cheap its actions that count.

    Here you go:

    https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/may/club-statement/

Well after reading that .. i need another stiff drink

Pugh & Rance yes – Whitehouse no! Unbelievable Jeff!!

WTF .. Rance is a crock and done jack shit ti earn anew offer whilst Whitehouse is ripping at Chester… Jimmy knows best , gord help us.

Foster will end up going. I can’t see Butterfield staying either to be honest. Wilson I can understand because if we offer him a contract don’t we get a fee if a team comes in for him ?

Fecking Dean Rance, came injured and hardly played for the last team he was at due to injuries and yet he’s staying. I don’t understand that at all.

    Same here

Whspers from codland they are watching/keen on Shrimpton and this name mentioned in Bru earlier Chadwick whose i believe is on loan at Boston from Hull.

Barring the youngsters like Robertson Poulter etc I would be hard pressed to choose max 3 or 4 who should be retained .. for the most part theyve all been total gash.. also cant see the likes of Shields Butterfield staying

    Chappo Elliot Ogle Whitehouse ..

    p45 the rest

    Players – mostly no!!
I like the idea of Performance Related Pay for players, that would sort out what we’ve been served up lately.

And managers ……. i know they are some what on PRP already as if the team dont win in most cases managers are sacked ..but they still get their pay and contractual payoffs..ask Rafa the king of the early bath brown envelope.
