Good points guys .. The Scunthorpe United FC Museum with a section within The John Staff Collection would be a great way to keep his memory at the club.

Very sad to hear of Johns passing RIP

I really hope SUFC find a way to honour him in some way to keep his name forever at the club, talk of a museum were mooted a while back so how fitting would it be to be called the John Staff Museum.

Sincere condolences to Johns family and his many many friends he will be missed greatly.

All quiet on the Western front .. some fella on the SUFFB page touting a mega announcement incoming but other than that its Stu Maw footy cards and old images from history and as quiet as a mouse on there which is to be expected in close season …. UNTIL any newbies come in and info on contracts starts to come out.

IMO .. Its only a matter of time before this happens in some way shape or form, very sad if it does ..imagine all the big boys constantly playing each other BORING YAWN BORING .. leagues will miss out on the smaller clubs making great games against the Liverpools Man C/U Arsenal Madrid and Barca etc ..

Any clubs that join should be totally banned from playing in the UK cup comps n all.

I see Gary Hooper had a run out for the Celtic Vets team at the weekend, scoring two goals and getting rave reviews.
    Currently without a club ………
    Assistant manager/playing role?

That sounds tasty ..i hope AB still has Hoops number.

    According to Hilton

Agreed. But (correct me if I’m wrong) that’s two or three times he’s singled Elliott out as a bit suspect in statements he’s made since leaving the club.

Maybe Hilton simply didnt/doesnt like Elliot hence the negativity in the form of sly digs that you mention… my opinion on Hilton is easy ..go away no need for any further comment as for Elliot he seems to have slipped himself in a nice position just what he has brought and will bring to the club both financially and other remains open to conjecture…we arent seeing him as much as THE BRILLIANT Roj Rahman for instance.

Congratulations also to Stuart and Sue Maw being recognized by the ironhour podcast for all the fundraising they do for Scunny, bit ott at times for me but you cant fault their efforts.

Totally agree with all that AWG .. football cards raffles auctions sponsored spikey hairdoos their dedication is unwavering and massive well done , i heard Stuarts false teeth disappeared and they turned up as a raffle prize at the Ironhour footy on Sunday !! also Sue is making Stu wear an Andy butler mask around the house …

Round of applause to the Mega Maws

Haven’t seen a premier league game in over 11 years now, no highlights just the occasional goal on the news, cant beat watching scunny, refs are shite down here but so is Var where they are.
European cups ruined by champions league especially the cup winners cup that was my favorite.

I admit to following PL and other EFL scores etc but no real interest who wins or looses etc .. always nice to see the Cods get battered but if Scunny Utd not involved means very little and that includes the CL etc , doubt i will bother with the FA cup final also.

Hoping the NLTV and HR commentaries improve as lots of issues last season.

Indeed the refs were absolute dog mess last season and cant see that improving anytime soon.

    Hill Cox were dire …

Surely the worst manager at SUFC would be Jimmy Dean because he managed the club two leagues below football league status and failed miserably with a decent squad

Fair point .. it did all go pear shaped for JD after the New Year for some reason ..

Well done to Man C for not only winning again but managing to avoid a points deduction as the likes of Everton and N Forrest werent so looked over by the FA.

Two to watch next season and if they buy wisely Crystal Palace may well figure in the top 5 , maybe even do a Leicester ??!! the other being Chelsea fancy them to have away better season than this one.

Cant see Man U being anything other than upper mid table AGAIN

Those regularly injured should have gone.

Not that easy when they’re under contract, where do they go?

Indeed remnants of the Hilton era do still linger ..

WG agree re Law n Roberts , add Beestin to the injury prone list if he stays … for now its a case of lets see which players are gonna want to except the new deals and stay and go from there .. i really hope Butterfield stays. Still a tad surprised both Pugh n DSF have gone.

IMO AB and his staff will have their work cut out enticing players to sign so the loan market will be key.

He was looking like our best player and Dean inexplicably dropped him from the squad for the biggest game. He was great on the ball and tracked back numerous times- he would be Butler’s kind of player, hard working and fit

Indeed only JD knows why Corbett didnt figure in the game against Boston .. not even on the bench and like you said IA he looked a real handful up front yet always back covering , worked tirelessly and linked up well with DWh.

From Wiki (so it must be true)
In March 2024, Corbett joined National League North side Scunthorpe United on loan, until the end of the 2023–24 season.
On 12 May 2024, Peterborough announced the player had been transfer-listed.

    Go get him.

I liked this lad ..agree 100% GO GET HIM !!

Listened to it over the weekend, Great work MB and ME.

Michelle, Roj and Andy all came over really well. it’s incredible what they have done so far.

Point of order though i didn’t like the comment saying “you can’t just go and watch another club”, we all don’t live in Scunny or North Lincs, there is a growing number who go to watch Non league for a game to watch if we can’t get to see United. IFA for example watches Thai football but he doesn’t stop following us.

Thats correct CMC .. i do follow my local Thai side Nong Bua Pitchaya going to most home games and the odd convenient away fixture alas hailing from Gunness and watching Scunny since the early 1980s at both OSG and GP before jumping ship i can categorically state i ONLY HAVE ONE FOOTBALL CLUB…and never miss a game internet permitting.

Btw NBP were promoted to the Thai Premier league this season which is great news this with circa 2000 at home games .. sadly unless some big money comes in they will be the Sheff U of Thailand.

Listening to the recent podcast (well done the guys that landed that scoop) it did soften the blow of not being promoted , knowing we have such great owners we now have a future and its bright.. I was also pleased JD was not kept on … nothing against the guy smashing fella by all accounts but he was Hiltons pick possibly on silly money so made real sense to not renew.

Not being promoted may well turn out to be a god send .. rather be competing and around the top of the NLN than cannon fodder in the NL and in a relegation battle in front of way lower attendances.

Really hope AB does well ..

Thank God for Hilton getting rid of the perennial Daws. We all know if he was still here he’d have being be going nowhere.

Maybe Hiltons cull didnt go quite far enough EH ..Daws would have been at the club to share a taxi with Muzzy when the lights go out.

IMO .. a keeper coach at this level who has produced absolutely zilch over years is a way to ave a few quid GET RID… WE GOT FITZ AND A MIRIAD OF LOANEES INCOMING JUST HOW MUCH CAN THEY BE TRAINED “FOR ANOTHER CLUB” ..alas from the podcast seems Muzzy is part of the furniture in the AB set up.

i predict approx 1800 season ticket plus 1800 walk ins for a regular home attendance at 3300 to 3500 .. IF in the top 7 .. outside of that not wishing to be gloomy be 3000 .. and if it all goes to sh8te 2500.

Shame it doesn’t reflect it on the pitch where it’s needed every goalie of late gets worse as the season progresses.
Any guesses for who is his managers, And does anyone believe someone keeps tabs on him? And from MKs research it’s pretty obvious that the manager doesn’t have a say who’s the goalie coach.

Cock on .. its not like weve had a decent keeper for ages .. or why so many shit results ..

BTWis Fitz that good ? ..HOPE SO HES HERE NEXT SEASON .. great some games stupid mistake the next so whos to blame Muzzy ??

He’s surviving his third chairman and if you include caretakers his thirteenth manager so I guess he must be contributing something useful.

YES but at some point ie NOW salarries must be saved .. AB plus an ASST thats it .. shocked Hilton dint cull more before inc Muzzy.

Thought it was funny on the podcast when asked about muzzies position, they had know idea about the real inference of the question and the standing joke behind it.

Yes 100% .. it was as its afor gone conclusion hes stays ..WTF

Should we all get off of Muzzy’s back?

To qualify to UEFA B level, a goalkeeper firstly has to acquire his UEFA B outfield licence.

Then, to get their UEFA A Goalkeeper’s licence they must firstly pass their UEFA A Outfield licence.

Muzzy was a terrific keeper for the club. Him and Murphy have to be the best I’ve seen.

Let’s stop ridiculing him and get behind him and the team.

    UTI

Na im with awaywego … sorry to all members but lets keep this in prospective , how much training does Fitz need ??? hes been around the block twice and just what does Muzzy offer apart from a salary to be saved and added to the player pool at this level he is surplus to regardless.

Jobs for the boys time has to be over .. save every quid

That’s kinda inferring he played no part in the failure more an innocent bystander, im not buying that, should have been one out all out.

Except Muzzy of course .. the Colonel Custer of SUFC he will be the last man standing whilst all around get culled.

I don’t know the ins and outs regarding the various responsibilities of manager, asst manager and head coach but, in our current situation, couldn’t two people cover those jobs?

You may be right. Hayes and Butler may be enough.

I was thinking exactly the same Cass .. the more savings made on back room staff salaries the more can go to the playing staff budget, this is NLN and how many “coaches” does a club need..suffice to say Bullet proof Muzzy will survive as he always seems to.

BTW what does LT do nowadays , what is hes role /position its all gone quiet over there?

Very much looking forward to seeing the retained list ..whose in whose out n gone see what sort of a base or spine Mr Butler has to start with and also who will be choosing any new players coming in ?

The iron bru podcast is worth a listen to if you want some iron related chatter without the smut.

Good call Bish , checked out the last IronBru podcast and was impressed with its informative less banterous style
