Awesome start to the season. Sussed early on. (Predictable.) Adjustments desperately needed. Adjustments not forthcoming. Managerial belief hardens into becoming wholly inflexible.
At current rate, we are unlikely to make the playoffs – not even close.
A season being wasted but at least the early season points should mean that we won’t be in any relegation trouble.A sombre depressing post les alas sadly very accurate

thank lord Buddha we are off the top … no more
We are still top of the league
This clean sheets twaddle can also be consigned to the bin
If you had offered us 25 points before the season kicked off bla bla bla
If the opposition dont score you dont loose 5555555
BUT WE STILL HAVE A CLUB

Good points and easily explained.
AB was appointed purely on a fiscal basis… HE WAS THE CHEAP OPTION.
Extending his contract so soon was shear folly, a terrible decision especially after the great start to the season had already gone pear shaped when it happened.

Curzon or Chorley may well be this seasons Tamworth .. can see them to pulling away at the top in the coming weeks.
Yesterday highlighted just how much we need a fox in the box striker quickly ..as teams know if they can put 2 or 3 on Roberts and give him a hard time thats our main threat nulified, Southport twigged and did just that from just before half time. Not sure you can blame AB for this one .. the lads were in full control playing well yet allowed the hosts 3 goals from their only 3 chances … embarassing, shambolic defending to blame on this occasion not formation or tactics.
Havent heard post match interviews yet but can pretty much imagine what sound bites they will contain.
Win the game in hand on Tuesday and things will look slightly better ..alas im not confident we will see top spot again and end up in the play offs or even just outside them.
Chester have fallen off a cliff lately yet we could only manage a draw which in some opinions was a good result …doesnt look that great now though after Curzon swished them aside at ease.

Dreadful performance again. You know it’s bad when even the ever optimistic Stu Maw is saying how poor it was on the cult page. But on the plus we don’t have to witness IFA’s bare arse whilst taking a jaunt down Frod Rd.
Stu Saw the light and Frod road is indeed safe from my rather rotund yet soft n silky arse cheeks
FOR NOW

must win this and similar ones against the leagues also rans … alas nothing is a given and im not sure this will go well.
Dull predictable unconvincing so im going for a draw .. 1-1 .. @ AAGP AB really should go for it with a 442 0r even 433 but does he have the personal to do that (IMO NO) so expect his current fav wing back set up to remain even though our wing backs arent really wingers more like left n right backs.
Like to see Law get a run of games.
Such is my confidence i would fly home and show my arse in Wilsons Chippy frod Rd winda for a win at Chester.
i remain 2-1 to the Seels as we just couldnt hit a pigs arse with a shovel ATMOonly a guess .Sharp ??.. i reckon hes gonna do a Wrexham on he cheap
Drab boring football that manages to nick a result is how i see a few of our previous few games ..
squad too small , get a few more faces in as its obvious the one here either arent good enough or dont give a toss just seeing out a high paid contract n move on .. lest we forget we are still suffering from the past owners fookwittery re signings
Do any fans really think Roberts (and others ) really want to be here for the love of SUFC .555

Enjoyed the listen and the whole panel spoke /answered excellently.
Nothing new really .. plenty of well deserved back slapping and praise for everyones efforts over the last 12 months from 1.8 mil dedt to just under 100k is miraculous.
Fans questions mostly soft ball , good news re academy/youth plans and a possible Sharp produced movie.
I think AB should have been pressed more on his current favoured formation and tactics and how flexible will he or can he be if performances remain unconvincing and changes are needed ..It appears there are funds available to sign players so lets watch this space and hope any newbies are better than the more recent acquisitions.
Heres the direct link to HR Sounds .. from FB hence the large link detail but it works ok

Im buying into your Dec Howe idea by the game Rene , he appears to be just the kind of striker we need as its all a bit predictable n stale at the mo (Roberts aside).. seems to know where the goal is and as another bruite mentioned a ” fox in the box ” is desperately needed ASAP… still leaves the midfield to sort with the addition of a big growler as its all a bit twinkle toes, fairy cake and pansy potter in there nowadays.
Lots of activity at the AAGP with dinners, forums tours alas its all quiet on the signings front maybe LT busy with his up coming Lee n Lawsy gig writing the script.
Im predicting in the Chester pre match interviews
Chester are a tough well organized side
The players have trained well
Worked hard, its been a good week in training
The players have taken on board what we are trying to do.ALL above sound bites will be ran out again.

We will not be top of the table at 5pm!
How can you say this with such conviction? Unless Chester win by a four goal margin we can lose and still be top come the end of the day.
Taking goal difference in or out of the equation as well as Chester,Chorley who are away at Alfreton, Curzon and Hereford who play each other could also go top come 5pm Saturday.
Assuming AB plays his favoured formation im hoping for another surprise Iron performance ala Brackley just worried where the goals will come from as it appears we are very tame as an attacking force recently.
We may well nick a goal but IMO Chester will do us 2-1
2-1 Chester
Guiseley for the cup … i hope they draw the Cods n batter them bladdered
sorry if i miised the draw been on the piss in Bkk all day
FOUL on keeper?

8 mins of injury time… twice what was indicated.
Ref must have done 2-2
The refs at this level are probably as bent as i dogs back leg.. or even Slippery Stu Maws auctions 5555
JOKE ok guys
NLN Table from Flashscore site .. just noticed only 6 points separating the top 10 places and just how few teams are registering defeats in the right hand colour last 5 games form section.
No cakewalk for sure i reckon gonna be tight all season n go down to the wire.

Thing is with Butler is a lot of what he follows is data based and he isn’t applying common sense. If he would have left Roberts on last weekend we would have won, but because of data he takes him off and we all go to shit. This is happening far too often and it’s biting us in the arse.
This formation doesn’t really work either. For the most part we’re strong and robust, but because we have no real ball player in CM and we lack size it doesn’t work. Only match we’ve put somewhat of a full performance in was against Kidderminster at home.
Agree with most of that WGs ..
IMO The formation AB seems to be set on is fine away from home but should not be used at home and a more attacking line up from the off .. alas do we currently have the personal to adapt im not sure we do at the moment and a couple of injuries to key players like Roberts would hit harD.
I know money is tight but in earlier interviews it was mentioned i think by both AB and Michelle funds were there to bring in players if required.. 100% need a striker and more strength in midfield.
Tell you all what the whole thing feels different, the team, the squad fitness and attitude, the management of said team and different tactics used from game to game, the willingness to change shape to change structure to use subs in a more logical way and not forgetting the feel good factor and incredible buzz amongst all the supporters particularly at home games. Guys there will be rough patches to come along the journey as we pick our way through 46 league games but the foundations are in place throughout the club and it’s fanbase to be successful this season. Just feels a great vibe to me.
And this is just how quickly things can change in football as its gone a tad pear shaped since this post only 5 weeks ago.
Did the young lad on dual registration get a run out, if so, how did he do ?
Briathwaite …. Tes he did WGs he was the lad who got sent off in added time thus causing such refereeing angst with Rene and his lost winnings.
Please tell me you cashed out Rene .. 2-2 now 96th min Boston goal

No mention of the departure of Mr Stanford on the club website or FB page, am i correct in thinking he was Iron Events ???.
Im predicting Danny Stamp to return as he posted for fans to watch out on social media today for updates.
Behind closed doors .. finished 1-1 details here
So the players we signed with our own money, that we can actually afford, might not be as good as the ones for whom a previous owner “paid” massively over the odds for? Well, that’s a big surprise.
Grow up, get behind the team, have a look at the league table, and support the club that we so nearly lost.
Agreed, however, it doesn’t stop the manager playing a system to get the best out of the players at his disposal. In my opinion, the current league position is simply papering over the cracks and I suspect we won’t remain top for much longer without a rethink.
In addition, the fact we nearly lost our club shouldn’t be used as an excuse to accept mediocrity.
Hitting the nail on the head there Ironfan.
Scunthorpe United have some of the worst supporters in England, and Scunthorpe United have some of the best supporters in England. Copy and paste for every English club, fact.
There we have it in a nut shell … every club will have its Stu Maws and also its less loyal and less positive fans thats the way its been and will stay long after most of us depart this world.
Indeed sufc fans and businesses have rallied round over the last few months / year to sponsor buy merc record sales , season ticket record sales even cash collections to pay wages in the darkest days .. so much unity “united we stand” was the tag and so it should be going forward.
BUT
SOME of these fans (a small minority) surely do have the right to moan and criticize about current form, and how in their opinion things should change ..in this case formation tactics being too defensive is the key issue and its so obvious to see it.
Indeed am i moaning or stating a fact when i say IMO the form of the players has been negatively effected by the current formation chosen by AB and the football on offer is all to predictable and unconvincing, i love SUFC but still have my opinion.
Have read of the Fishy forum how our “friendly” Cod fans react to defeat or bad form slating the players and management and this goes for every other club possibly around the whole world when things are going sour.
As my old gran used to say “Opinions are like arseholes ………everyone has one”.
SCUNNY FANS ARE NO BETTER OR NO WORSE THEN ANY AT OTHER CLUB.
2 users thanked author for this post.
Opinions differ. Fine. Some opinions are more reasoned than others. Definitely. A novice Manager has you top of the League after ten games … has a 3 or 4 game blip coinciding with a depleted forward line .. and the calls for sacking begin.
Two things:-
It’s not just a 3 or 4 game blip though is it. Even when we were winning we were far from convincing.
I haven’t seen much call for sacking, the odd one or two of course but that’s to be expected from certain quarters. The majority just want to see some decent football which would need change from Butler tactically and a bit of recruitment.Totally agree cass , other than Brackley and Kiddy performances have been very unconvincing.
Cant say ive seen any SERIOUS meaningful calls for AB to be sacked ( a day after hes just got a contract extention 5555555 ) what i am seeing is a huge call for him to change formation, tactics and the club to get 2 or 3 new faces is ASAP as its plain to see we badly need a striker as well as a couple more posItions.

Michael Clunan is not the problem. In my opinion and the opinion of many many other fans who were at the match yesterday, the main problem is the system that Andy Butler is insisting on our team playing. We have five defenders plus he insists on Clunan playing just in front of the back five. That’s SIX DEFENDERS playing a bottom of the table side at home. Clunan should be allowed to play further forward which we have seen he is capable of and can pass the ball. He and many of our players must be frustrated too by Butlers approach to the games. Don’t forget he was man of the match nit so long ago. How can we play attacking football with so many playing in defence. The recent bad results are the fault of Butler in my opinion, who is refusing to change anything. His substitutions yesterday were ridiculous and cost us the win. We can’t expect Roberts to do it on his own every match. The midfield is supposed to be the engine room but ours is non-existent due to Butlers defensive tactics and attitude. I can’t believe he has had his contract extended now, and should not have been done until seeing how we were placed by Christmas. There will be many fans not willing to watch these defensive displays which aren’t working and not getting the results. We made Oxford look good, not being disrespectful to them, in fact they were the best team on the day.
Bang on post … AB needs to change the set up and tactics , alas do we have the personal to actually change it ..Charlton coming back may possibly help but hes gonna be rusty first few games.
This ultra defensive set up n style is a hard watch and crowds will drop.
But at least they had a good week of training ..so its just match days they are rubbish then.
I cant recall the last signing that did impress .. the Scottish lad Smith on loan did well once JD finally played him other than that nowt to write home about.
No doubting LT love and dedication for the club and im sure he does many other jobs as part of his position title alas when it comes to signings via him or his contacts within the game they have been a mix of bang average and woeful in some cases.
Its obvious what is needed .. a battling rough midfield general , winger and more so and quicker a striker.
