Joined the Iron Trust but for numerous reasons i most certainly wouldnt touch this new Unity group with a Cod heads barge pole as im not sure i like or agree with its creators and just how transparent it will be regarding where funds will be used.

IMO its easy .. the new group isnt really needed and appears to be some wannabe individuals route to egomania.

Hacked … yeah right took a while to discover that gem.

    Hi all,
Just wanted to say a quick hello and introduce myself. Been an Iron supporter for 30+ years, from Australia. I wasn’t sure where else to say hi, so please forgive me if this isn’t the right spot.
In the olden days I used to read the classified section of the local paper to go through all the league results.. at best I had to do my own version of the BBC’s ‘Oxford Unites onnnnnneeeee, Scunthorpe United TWO.’
Then pay tv came along, and every couple of years I was able to get up at 2am and watch the Iron play Hull (that was epic) live on telly. Good times.
I have a small shrine to Championship Manager Steve Housham, believe Peter Beagrie had fantastic hair, and that Gary Hooper would have made a better president than Donald Trump.
When Andy Keogh moved to Perth Glory I almost became a Glory supporter, but that made no sense at all. They suck.
    Anyway, hi.

Welcome … WE ARE ALL regardless where we are located on planet Earth.

Hopefully they’ll get things in order rather than a one man show just doing whatever he pleases, where’s the sense in buying club shop vouchers and kiddies Xmas presents when Kelme and other product manufacturers will cream off most of the money he may say £18,000 has gone to the club but in reality it hasn’t.

I personally don’t like the guy just on his blogs alone he kinda lectures people to fall in line with his views, especially the let’s get behind Hilton one.

Good point .. whilst i will agree Stu Maw has played his heart out for the club re fund raising IMO it all got too full on in yer face and and became an obsession for him including forcing his opinion on others most notably drumming up support for Hilton.
As posted before i much prefer the various SUFC related social media platforms without his various posts for donations , auctions and preaching vids.

Is it worth letting him go for say, £25,000? I don’t think it is unless there’s pressure to reduce the wage bill.

By the right offer i was thinking 100k … 25k Na , alas the BovD and Roberts himself have the final say not fans.

If we don’t sell he goes for free, big deal not, he didn’t cost us a fee initially and we would save on his high wages. If we are realistic about promotion we keep him but if a club comes in offering silly money then we sell anyway, either way it’s not an issue to get worked up about, players have come and gone for years but the important thing is the club remains, whatever division it operates in. Yes I want promotion but if it’s not this season so be it.

Pretty much how i see it … the club should cash in if the right offer comes in and carry on regardless promotion or not (not sure going up to NL would be all its cracked up to be as things are at the mo) , obviously Roberts leaving now for cash or the end of the season FOC will stir the wrath of some fans but THATS FOOTBALL.

I agree it’s probably a storm in a tea cup but I wouldn’t want to suggest talk of the new group is fizzled out. End of the day, people may have stronger feelings about it and wish to air their views. Some valid questions have been raised and that’s healthy IMO.

The only real valid question is around the money – what’s it for, how is it going to be managed, and who is custodian of it… You start a public group where you’re asking for money and you need clear and careful governance.

Agree when donating to such a group you must have all the info as to exactly where the money raised will be spent .. must be totally transparent throughout the whole setup.

IMO theres only ever a certain capped amount of fans that will donate so i reckon no need for another group especially one starting up with a bad smell attached before a ball is kicked.

Torps made an interesting point on RH commentary. Apparently Fadera was playing “park football” not long ago and it showed as “he plays without fear” not having had it coached out of him yet.
How long will that take? Done by Tuesday?

Yes i caught that moment of Torps magic and thought the same… a few days of AB n Scoff instilling their ” magic ” will have the lad hiding in the AA bogs before KO rather than flying down the wing scaring the opposition.

Whilst acknowledging the good work (volunteering possibly) Jerry does in and around the club he does come across as a bit full ov himself and a plum when responding to anyone on social media criticizing AB his tactics and players.
I see Jerrys side kick is back after nudeigate offering a unity update whilst chest puffing his fund raising skills lapping up the adulation of his disciples .. i have much preferred the FFB page free of the the Maw flea market and auctions etc

The Trust did a lot in helping to secure the Ground and the future of our Club but do not go on Social Media telling the world what they have done.
Talking of supporters Clubs was it called Unity or something like that seems to have disappeared just like it’s Chairman !

Indeed kudos to the trust for all they did and continue to do for the club.

As for the new Unity group as commented it appears to have dropped off the radar as has the plethora of Maw mafia posts and vids

Going well? Good to see you’re still easily pleased Deerey. For a lot of us it’s going to take more than a 45 minutes of good football per 20 odd games to be convinced after the utter dross we’ve seen for majority of this season.

The seven unbeaten run is a good PR spin, but not exactly the achievement it’s being hailed as:-
A 0-0 draw at home to Alfreton, one of the worst games seen by many at GP.
A 0-0 draw at home to Hereford, subpar and painfully dull.
Another 0-0 bore draw against part time Darlington.
A piss poor performance and skin of the teeth last minute 2-1 win to the league whipping boys Marine, by an arguably undeserved penalty.

The reality is; there was only one acceptable performance in those 7 games. But after some of the horror shows we’ve seen this season (Rylands, Alfreton, Guisley to name but a few) the bar has been set so low that anything better than ‘utterly shite’ is now deemed an ‘improvement’ even if we’re still very poor.

    ****************

Now thats called hitting the nail on the head … this 7 game unbeaten run sound bite being rolled is out of prospective as for the most part the football served up has been dire dull and at best mediocre EXCEPT KLT , its head shaking just how we are still in touch around the top possibly a tad false with others games in hand etc.

Tend to agree IFA, we’re stuck with the current incumbent until the seasons end now. We’ve had opportunities to part ways after some dire performances, but it’s clear the board are going to ride or die with Butler until the summer, most likely to avoid a pay off. Michelle has mentioned on more than one occasion, ‘clauses in the contract that protect the club’. With the clear objective given to Butler that promotion is a must, presumably if we fail to achieve promotion we will be able to get rid without having to pay him up for year 2. The price of that though is another year in the dreaded NLN.

It’s a post-Christmas miracle we are still within touching distance of top, but the standard of football we’ve seen this season and the lack of any consistency, we’de be low hanging fruit in NL. I intermittently flicked over to a handful of NL games whilst watching our Boxing Day game and we are not even close to being able to compete at the level above under Butlers guiding hand, with our best players set to depart in the summer and a recruitment strategy that Stevie Wonder could markedly improve. If pigs do indeed fly and we get promoted we would just be another Boston in NL next year.

Nice to see you back posting 414 hope you a had a safe n happy New Year ..

I reckon your first paragraph holds some water re the club having something in the contract clause to off load AB n Scoff at a certain point ..seasons end either after playoffs or before if we finish lower than 7th.
Im still predicting no way automatic promotion with such inconsistent form but a 7th finish may see us squeak into the playoffs…( more likely 8th 9th 10th IMO )
Its all very tight and lots of other teams in the mix with no run away team like Tamworth .. beware the likes of Darlo , Buxton etc nickin a playoff spot.

I am proud that the Thai League has high standards at the ASEAN level.
It is very difficult to have a football team here that can survive on its own.
If it weren’t for a businessman who loves football very much like Mr. Wirachat Sathitraipop, owner of the Krung Thonburi FC team that has now disbanded.
Most of them are local influential people, who are often local politicians, as owners.
But personally, I think Scunthorpe could easily be in the Thai League if you look at the quality of the team.
But as they say, the club’s finances determine its success.
There are many football fans who are crazy about football, but there are not many fans who can afford to pay for the tickets. There are not many who can expect sponsors in Thailand.
The money from the team owner is the most important.

The Standard of Thai football is has improved massively and still is evolving.. in my younger days i used to watch Chonburi FC who at the time were the front runners that mantle has passed to Buriram United but there are quite a few others of similar stature now.

NB Pitchaya FC have a hard core of 1500 fans and did get 3000 for the Buriram fixture , very passionate and a nice atmosphere saying that very different to attending an EPL game. but as you say even at 80 – 200 bt to get in (2 to 5 quid) its out the reach of many especially for clubs outside of Bkk.

The clubs do have sponsors but in the main totally controlled by the owner.

Me and my son attend as many games as poss here but must admit to missing watching Scunny whatever league they are in as they are and always will be my only team.

    UTI and NBP FC

IMO regardless of results AB n his wingman Scoff wont be going anywhere this season so automatic promotion is almost certainly out the window ..playoffs a distinct possibility but whilst going up via that route could turn out to be nasty after the dust settles and in a NL relegation fight ala Boston.
KLT was a freak performance , been crap for months yet managed some how to stay in touch at the top and nothing will change whilst we are there or there abouts.

Lack of activity in the transfer market more so loan players is strange when apparently there is money there if needed yet i agree with AWG there is money to employ another back room staff member who we could get through this season without as managed so far.

the club could well find its self in a right pickle come the end of season .. in NLN , change manager and a raft of players out the door including Roberts who by the way was absolutely average at RO.

Im sure Dec Howe would have put away a couple of those chances eh Rene ?? .. in fact having watched it i could of scored the Beck miss (great meme vid on the SUFC official FB page)

Not easy being a Scunny fan but we soldier on regardless.

2 weeks to bring a right back in and we prioritize a catering and events manager instead.

At least we seem to have money to throw around.

Maybe find a hospitality n Events manager who can also play RB … onnee kiddin but it is a bit annoying prioritizing this over playing staff… couldnt a HnEM wait until next season as seem have muddled through with that part of the club for a while.

Very attacking line up .. Roberts Whall Williams and Ubo looking tasty .. strong bench , i would have had out of favour Brogan on bench instead of Nicolson as more versatile.
