Laws Robins Alexander McAll all tried 3-5-2 (maybe even more managers) and they almost always produced turgid football, not pretty and very frustrating, some of these managers had very good players at their disposal. We should have enough quality to play decent under 442

There were professionals and pub players on the pitch today, you couldn’t tell who was who.

Agree that sacking Butler isn’t going to happen but 3 wins in 14 in what is without the doubt one of the worst leagues for fans to watch professional football in. Something has to change and doing the same thing over and over funnily enough isn’t working. He needs a midfielder needs a formation change

Seen a stat that we haven’t won on Saturday since August? Played 14 won 3? That is a damning stat in what is a pub league.

I’ve supported Butler and still hope he stays but the only way he’ll save his job now is to look at the formation. If he cannot see that then no one can help him.

Well, for whatever reason he has had his marching orders, not dealt with ideally, more important is our slide down the table and no new players but apparently the same formation going to be trotted out.
Do we have any idea if there are any plans for new players or recovering injury prone players to join us?

It is strong language, no mutual consent stated, just a termination. In the non footballing world it probably means a lot more.

Football is awash with ex pros who are useless at management, some very high profile ones to boot. Do fans know better? Probably not but you don’t need to be Zidane to see something isn’t working, we’re in the relegation spots on the form table for the last 8 or so games – with the resources available that is really bad.

Extended stay in the league may affect the gates we get. The standard isn’t great so it may be that the part time model works better, I don’t know what crowds Stockport use to get when part time but they are of similar size (maybe slightly bigger).

Where are you getting ‘veering towards part time’ from? Not heard that.

Not heard it from anywhere, merely offering an opinion that if we have a sustained stay in this division (and that would be through performances on the pitch) then the only sustainable model would be part time (which I think Stockport did in their time in NLN). If that does happen then one or two senior roles would have to be given up or offered gratis by those who can offer such, and I’m talking about a potential 5+ year stay.
I offered the opinion that the Buxton game was the most important to turn in a performance with a string of fixtures coming up with teams in and around us – a statement performance could have set us up nicely to consolidate and keep the floating fans interested in what is generally a very poor footballing league. Sadly we are regressing at an alarming rate and we desperately need to bolster attacking options and midfield with loans if possible.

Not a mistake but there is some credence in some of these points. We’re
looking to become a professional outfit off the field but the team is veering towards part time which would make these roles redundant and unaffordable (at least from a PAYE perspective). There is a significant liability moving forward having these senior roles
in place with what might be an extended stay in this league. The contract extension for Butler was ill timed and inappropriate – at least let him prove himself (is it a point a game since he signed?).

    Denton Evans koughoun barrows
    Combative midfielder Beestin Carlton Roberts
    Whitehall new striker
    4-4-2
Dispense with Cluinan he is too interested in stats and complete passes so he slows play down

Whatever your thoughts on Butterfield he contributed an awful lot. I would’ve liked Butterfield and Butler. Butler on his own is now hard to justify for me personally. A player coach/assistant in Butterfield would’ve added some good experience in the front positions.

Was watching the egg chasers so didn’t go (in fact I’ve gone from season ticket last season to the odd match this) what went wrong? Concern was the clean sheet syndrome has now gone to conceding 3 syndrome.

We’ll be saying ‘some of these need a kick up the bum that’s why I’ll be playing the exact same formation.

Midfield was a concern tonight so I’m going to ensure the same people that are easily outmuscled continue

7 midfielders in our squad and he plays two defenders in there (sometimes 3 when, bizarrely Evans sits in there).

I can’t believe we have no loans here. Maybe we can’t afford part of the wages, something isn’t right.

I’m trying really hard to stick by Butler, he needs to turn this shambles around. I know Butterfield was aging but his goals and assists and creativity haven’t been replaced. We”ve kept and signed dross. Crying out for decent footballers in the squad.

Don’t want to besmirch those trades/professions most jobs are stressful and tiring enough on their own. Some of these part time players show more desire, boys and skill than those who should have time to rest, recover, analyse, strategise. If a player is not carrying out Butler’s wishes then he needs to be dropped – it must now be surely time add to the squad

I don’t think people want Butler to fail, if he fails Scunthorpe fail. People are frustrated that problems are manifest within the squad and formation and we need to do something about it.
I still back him to get us out of this league but you can see he needs to strengthen and he needs to be less wedded to something when it’s clearly not working. If he can’t see those then we may have a problem.

If we win the league by a point because of a home draw surely we would’ve won it by 3 with a win? How far we’ve fallen

Targeting a draw a Chester looks strange now given their position, this league changes very quickly in terms of challengers, so close at times. I would say the only consistent of the last two years in this hell hole has been us (maybe also Chorley)

Good performance (missed it as well!), key is consistency now, need to start picking up away from home, understand we were unlucky at Southport. Hopefully Butler has looked at the stats in terms of trying to settle on a one goal lead and we’re now putting teams away at home, picking up wins away (like KL coming from one down) will be the key in the title race.

Butler can easily be better than Dean, he just needs to start acting like a manager and try and change things before and in game. It sometimes feels like managing by numbers (or that stupid XL spreadsheet) changes always seems a bit samey. Try 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1, 4-4-2 something different because we’re too easy to read and counter. He needs to start using his brains a bit because a third year in this regional shit show doesn’t need thinking about. Oh and get some bloody loan players in!!!!!
