Let’s face it, the current government is so thin skinned that they can’t stand any criticism from anywhere, especially the BBC. So they have been protesting and griping for years.
It’s beginning to show, they’ve appointed leaders sympathetic to themselves.
    Mild Putinism?

    Some homework.

    Try this question in chatGBT.

Are there parallels between the current British government’s rhetoric about migrants and Germany’s rhetoric about Jews in the 1930s?

The BBC bosses in tow to a Government and right wing press have started to dig what could be a very deep hole. The likely outcome is that the BBC bosses will have to resign. The quicker the better as they clearly haven’t a clue how to implement their own impartial policy. Why did they need one in the first place?

A long list of BBC presenters who have also expressed critical political views.

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/mar/11/gary-lineker-was-singled-out-from-a-long-list-of-bbc-stars-who-express-political-views?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

I just wonder what would have happened if Lineker tweeted in support of Braverman?
Would he have been reprimanded by the BBC, the Tory press and the government?

Indeed Lineker was speaking of a time BEFORE the Holocaust. Lineker is not a stupid person, for an ex footballer he’s quite intelligent. The current government are seeking to confuse the issue. We should all take these events as a warning.
It would not happen in Putin’s Russia.

So the unions demanding inflation level pay rises are living in a fantasy land according to this Government.

But the mobile and internet providers have occupied the fantasy land as they are “contractually” able to increase prices by inflation 10ish% +3-7% based on what’s in the small print on your contract.

All allowed by this Government without any challenge on intervention.

Price rises clearly aren’t the “peoples priority”, a phrase being increasingly used to divert the “people” away from what really matters. It’s all the migrant’s fault.

And they use the now defunct RPI while any increase we might get is calculated using CPI.

Maybe the biggest laugh I have all day…

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the former business secretary, told GB News on Thursday the job offer “shows that there was a socialist cabal of Boris-haters who were delighted to remove him”.

I’m assuming those further to the left (in general) are critical of Starmer’s decision? Can they get a new T shirt or poster out of it?

Laughable, what is the ERG if it’s not a cabal.
Sunak should withdraw the whip, after all that’s what Boris did to eliminate opposition.

Ian Paisley Junior has already said “it doesn’t cut the mustard”.

I doubt if he has even read it. Some are in it to object to everything as they know they will lose their influence by agreeing. The DUP have no intention of power sharing when Sinn Fein are the major party.

The DUP had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to sign up to the Good Friday agreement, the only major party to oppose it. They then were a majority. Now that they are now a minority they are hanging on to its coattails.

When Bryan Robson was a young apprentice at West Brom his landlady at his digs was under instruction to serve him a bottle of stout ( Mackeson I believe ) every night when she dished up his evening meal and told to stay there till he drunk it. Don’t think Robson liked the taste but he had to drink it and look how he ended up.

He developed quite a taste for alcohol, small beginnings.

I think the sheer enthusiasm of Jimmy during and in particular after the match, coming all around the field, not just part of it, pumping his fists in celebration of a great win and applauding the fans, is just great. Aren’t these the sort of actions the majority have been waiting for in a manager? Remember all the observations around some of the last few mangers, the Knills, the Robins, the Hills, stood there arms folded showing no passion in the dugout or on the touchline, well none of that appears to apply to Jimmy. I think he’s a breath of fresh air, long may this feeling continue.

The only person showing passion and connection with the fans in recent years was Cliffy.

Just shows what happens when you nail your political colours to the mast and yet pass yourself off as a serious news broadcaster. Fox News is nothing more then a right wing propogandist channel masquerading as a genuine news channel, their hypocrisy is astonishing and they have been lying continually to the American people for many years. Trouble is they, along with Trump and many in the GOP, have convinced a large section of the GOP voting base that they are correct. Big trouble comimg for Fox with this $2.7 billion dollar lawsuit being pursued by Dominion, the voting machine company Fox spread lies about after the 2020 election, the courts are coming down heavily on Fox in the early exchanges and Hannity has already admitted in court under oath that he thought Trump was lying, funny, he didn’t say that in his broadcasts to the nation at the time. Sit back with your popcorn and enjoy all you right wingers.

And now we have GB news

I believe that BBC News is left wing bias, as Tory bashing has been their way for as long as I can remember. I have to admit that I avoid this crap by simply not watching anymore. In fact I don’t bother with msm news anymore, so if it has changed since the Blair years, please let me know.

Thank you, I anticipate all manor of link requests and other such crap from the usual suspects. I will not reply, as I am the one asking the question here… LK

The BBC hammer all administrations if they fall short, and so they should. The Blair government was remorselessly challenged when appropriate, Harold Wilson hated the BBC.
It’s just that this present administration is notoriously thin skinned. It would really like to fully control the BBC.
    Very Putinesque.

I have a theory that those who cross over or don’t come from your archetypal Tory background feel the need to become Uber Tories to in some way prove themselves.

Compared with other losses this season, Barnet did not run rings around us, they were resilient and took their chances. In a negative, we gave them those chances.
    It’s the defence.

Didn’t Friday night games at the OSG get bigger gates, or am I imagining it?

Back then there were many local footballers who would be playing on Saturday afternoon, many of them would turn out to support The Iron on Friday Nights.
