What a sad day, thank you John for not only being the number one Iron fan but for being a top top guy. Took him many boxes of old programmes down to his house for him to move on and donate the proceeds to the club and spent many hours just chatting to him on away coaches and in the ground on match days. Things will never be quite the same again watching the Iron play without John in the ground, RIP John we will all miss you.

Agreed, this debate like many others has gone down the sterile back and forth route with no end in sight and bill has once again chosen to hide behind you tube to back his opinion. The financial fair play rules were brought in IMO to placate the moaning so called ” big clubs”, the ones who used to win most things before the Premiership began and who initially still won most things till foreign investment kicked in big style. Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool were fine when it was all about them but when Chelsea then City received bigger investment and those teams began winning more titles it all kicked off, now Newcastle are joining in the fun.How can a league initially formed because the ” bigger clubs” wanted more of the money in football kept in the top league, start bringing in rules because too much money is being spent by certain clubs to their advantage, it’s crazy and hypocritical, again IMO. You reap what you sow, the game at the top demanded more money in that sector than throughout the game in general and that’s what its got, shut up moaning and live with it. The fines on Everton and Forest are pathetic and unjust and the football authorities should hang their heads in shame for attempting to placate a few big clubs in the sport.

Villa the surprise package this time finishing fourth but the bookies were spot on with the top three, Manure continue to be the biggest club/ joke in the Premiership. I still speak to a lot of footy fans who are amused by there continued under performance , maybe they’ll win the cup this season.

Fair comment JI, I should also add that I attended confirmation classes and took the confirmation service at 13 overseen by the then Bishop of Lincoln. It was mainly because a few of my mates did it after being encouraged by their parents but we all regarded it as a laugh and never were really interested. As I got older I became totally disinterested and just stopped all religious input as I became more aware of the wider world and what was going on. Since then I have rejected all religion and came to the conclusion a long time ago that it was just a control exercise and when I see the way poorer countries are seemingly so dependent on it it just convinces me more that the poorer the people the greater religion takes control. If they are happy and needy belief in their lives that’s fine by me and I have no problem if religion gives some people comfort but I’m happy believing in my version of things and I think we should all respect each others positions, certainly people going out of their way to convince me of god and religion get short shrift in fact many religious people I know don’t even bother now, they know my position.

Quite agree about children and religion, I never had a choice it was baptized at 8 weeks and done, neither of our two children were christened and now both in their forties they both say t it was the correct decision on our parts as parents. Education and teaching kids things the right way to be a valuable and caring member of society is one thing, indoctrination is another, not for me thank you.

If small community style football clubs are to survive then more fan involvement is a must because the cost and pitfalls of keeping a club in business are colossal these days. Michelle and her board have done brilliantly but they have also had lots of personal and community input to help out along the way, long may it continue.
