Not yet confirmed as fact as reported:-
“The controversial Nottingham businessman, David Hilton – former owner of Scunthorpe United and one-time chairman of Ilkeston Town – is rumoured to be the unnamed backer of Matlock Town.”Was referring to WHAM’S crooked past Cass, arrows on his suit and all that jazz.

Business Desk doing it’s job which is to report the facts, if people still trust WHAM after reading the facts then they are beyond help IMO.

The only grass that was greener with Hilton was the pitch.
Absolutely, rather strange how with better genuine owners it’s now turned to sand, buckets and spades, ice cream and candy floss come to mind.
February 16, 2025 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Yet another…’what have you been listening today?’ Thread #299092Went to see the Dylan biopic “Complete Unknown” the other night.
Not a huge Dylan fan but thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else been?
Yep went a couple of weeks back and I thought Timothee Chalamet was excellent as Dylan, liked the music as it was portrayed and fitted the times the film was covering IMO. Monica Barbaro and Edward Norton were also very good and despite a couple of misrepresentations about events in the time line ( most biopics do that ) I thought it was a good representation of what went on in those times. Nice to see Chalamet had spent a lot of time getting Bobs early guitar playing just about right too, that was important to me as a follower of his style when I began playing 53 years ago.
We all want our players to do well especially strikers.
I am only telling it as I see it, Beck came here with a 1 in 7 goal ratio. That said his game was more of a provider or creater for others.
I have not seen anything to convince me he can create or provide or that he was worth paying money for.
He created two opportunities for Beestin and Robert’s in the first half, it’s not Becks fault they both failed to make the best of them.
Should have been a one horse race!
Shoulda woulda coulda are the last words of a fool, according to Beverley Knight.
More closer and as a result more exciting race than last season, it’s going down to the wire as they say and we are very much involved and looking as strong as any other side in the chase.

Thought them pushing on late in the game gave us more opportunities up front which Mo and Carlton looked to exploit with their pace in behind but Scarborough did not play that way when Beck was on the pitch so the comparison between the three isn’t an equal one IMO. The main thing to take away is that all three players mentioned affected the game when they were on the pitch and as a result we won.

Top bin from Harry Green. 2-1 and clinging on now.
It’s all about opinions but in mine we were never clinging on.
Sensible game management, every player got a run out and in truth why chase a game you are winning, let’s be right we should have won by several goals more but chances were not taken and their only notable effort all game was the excellent free kick for the goal. Why people bang on about what might or could have happened is beyond me, we won and were never really under the pressure that Brackley put us under late on the other week, shut up moaning and take the win FFS.

Best game for us yet today, header down to send Beestin through in first minute who promptly made a mess of a very good chance. Sent Roberts through in first half who tried to get a shot on target when a pass across the box would have been better and knocked some useful balls into players plus some of his control on the floor was pretty good for a big guy. Don’t have a problem with Beck, we played a lot more to his strengths today and he had a decent game IMO.

Maybe you should give your head a wobble Rene?, it will be fine stop panicking FFS
Pitch looks like a beach how about ” donkey of the day “, I know it’s corny but my mate came up with it, hee haw hee haways says stuff like this. Carrot anyone?
Didn’t Clunan get one of the MOM awards
the town has a major drug problem
Probably has but I don’t think Clunan is the main dealer involved or the reason why.
We’ve had this conversation before, if you use Beck you must play to his strengths which means fast crosses coming in from the wings so he can attack them goalwards. We also need someone playing close to him if we persist in knocking long balls down the middle of the pitch and hoping he will do something with them, on his own not a lot, with a man close by then the flicks on he wins could bear some fruit. This guy has scored goals before at this level which is why he moved up a division before he joined us, he’s not at all like Whitehall and you would not expect a man of his physical build to play like Whitehall. Play to his strengths and give him a chance, he’s a target man so play in a way that suits a target man.

Well it is against international law trying to shift the Palastenians out of Gaza on a permanent basis, not that Trump cares because everything he says in his eyes is correct. One of his apologists was on Newsnight last night and got annoyed when asked by Vicky Derbyshire how Trump would actually get the Palestinians to leave if they refused, she seemed to suggest it was wrong to ask the question. Not answering the question is a political trait no matter which country you ask it but anybody with an ounce of commonsense will realise Trump is completely in the wrong about this issue.
Didn’t know dogs did eggs TBH, the curate origin from a Punch cartoon back in Victorian times never mentioned a dog, lol.
You know Trump is doing exactly like I thought he would once elected, making everyday about him. He’s in every news bulletin everyday and it’s all about him, how shocking, outrageous, whatever you want to describe his behaviour or actions he needs to be noticed and talked about everyday. Him him him him, the total narcissist is the most powerful man in the world and I believe he is very dangerous because of that.

Clunan is like the curate’s egg but he does lack the strength I’m talking about.
February 12, 2025 at 11:50 am in reply to: Butler interview post-Curzon Ashton (and in recent weeks) #298849I like Ollie and yes he’s ruffled AB’s feathers now and again but it’s great the relationship between them seems back on track , as for the Press box being a bit exposed at the Attis, well you couldn’t ask for a better minder than Torps sat next to you.

Doesn’t anyone think are lack of winning second balls particularly in midfield for a team lying second in the league is shocking cos I do? Sorting the forward line out without Whitehall is one thing but until we get a proper arse kicker in midfield to win tackles and second balls we will continue to look vulnerable to the likes of Curzon.

Last time I saw someone pointing that much was a brickie round my house doing some maintenance, as for Evans in for Boyce, well it’s happening the next two games anyway so we will see how he gets on.

Only one Cheeky Chimp on here Rene, everybody looking your way, lol.

Curzon looked a good side probably the best at the Attis this season but we had our moments and were worth the late equaliser through young Mo. Deffo missed Whitehall when he went off but don’t expect Beck to play like him, Whitehall is more mobile and gets about the pitch better, if you want to get the best out of Beck then play the game that suits his type of player. Would love their number 7 and 10 playing for us next season, best two players on the pitch IMO.

Something in our favour is we aren’t playing the same way when we met earlier in the season, if both teams look to pass the ball with a bit of pace it could be quite entertaining. Draws are no good to us at home and it wouldn’t surprise me if they come and have a go, those games in hand they have don’t mean a lot now their recent form has dipped.
JustIron will no doubt give us his intellectual post on the subject?
Aye bet he cant wait to comment just so you can kick seven bells of shite out of him for no reason except pure vindictive behaviour.
NLN playoff Final Saturday May 10th.
A team of non contract trialists representing us in the final, sounds perfect to me.
If Maw, Priestley and co had any real unity plans to support the Iron they would get behind the Iron Trust and funnel any fund raising through them, that’s where the real unity is being formed IMO in terms of members and shares in the club.
Maw should give the £18000 raised to the Iron Trust to buy shares in the club, people then know the money is properly supporting the club through it’s fanbase. If the kids want a Halloween or Christmas party their parents can provide the money, Jerry can dress up as Santa and Maw would make an excellent Frankenstein on Halloween night.
Trust notes state that in future, the players will be on 44 week contracts (beginning of July to end April)
Fruit picking in (insert country) during May & June?
Coming your way May through June the Roberts/Whitehall football skills and goal scoring course. £20 per child per day coaching fee, must provide a packed lunch and drink plus suitable wet weather clothing in case of inclement weather. That’s got that problem sorted.
