10 goals in 47 league appearances for Hopper at Lincoln – important goal yesterday but not the sort of record to lose too much sleep over.
20 in just over 100 league appearances for us, suggests he had more than enough chance to prove himself here.

Hard to get too excited about a trip to Sutton, would rather have had Torquay or Hartlepool, personally.
Agree with all of the OP apart from the bit about the Conference League, which I think is a good invention for smaller countries & clubs. Like a sort of LDV Trophy for those nations.
It’ll also make for a much more streamlined UEFA Cup, which can’t be a bad thing.
but then we got him back after been a poor squad player at Barnsley
Didn’t he score in the play-off final to get them into the Championship? Not exactly a fringe player.
but then to leave us for Preston for the big bucks and go into obscurity for the rest of his career
Was he even offered a contract here? I’m not sure he was. Also, I wouldn’t call his years at Wycombe as “obscurity”, he was a big player for them, even scored a couple of goals at White Hart Lane for them.

As much as I disliked Hayes ( money grabbing b******) it was a great goal.
What a strange point of view.
In fact when was the last time anyone actually enjoyed a game…anyone???
Honestly? Paul Hayes’ third (and final) debut at Mansfield, when he stuck that 30-yarder into the top corner after a few minutes. For me, it’s all been downhill since then.
Never mind Cox’s stamp, looking at that forward line I’d rather have Darryn Stamp (Even now!)
That’s who Ryan Loft reminds me of! It’s been bugging me all season. The poor first touch, the “mixed” efforts at heading the ball, the aimless running around: he’s a modern Darryn Stamp!
I’m not buying one because I’m not happy with the way the club is heading at the moment and the only way I can show the club how I feel is by keeping my money in my pocket.

We then are treated with the news we have offered Jordan Hallam a new deal, he is a good lad and I do feel sorry for him but in 2 seasons he has started 7 games !!
If you offer an under-23 player a contract, on the same or improved terms, then you are entitled to a fee if he moves on. Not the case with older players. So may as well offer Hallam a contract if you think he’s promising.
My gripe with Eisa was principally his advanced failings in the ‘tackling back department’ – he certainly bugged Newey.
Aye, Newey seems to be from the hard work school. Fair enough, that’s clearly how we made a career, I can see why he might resent players to whom everything comes naturally.
Yes he is a very good player but he has a bad attitude,he did not want to play for us
I’m curious, what evidence do you actually have for this?

With a 120 mile round trip for home games this season will be a make or break for me regarding season tickets.
I reckon if you’re still prepared to do that next season, nothing will break you!

I think a lot of Iron fans under-rated Eisa, he had a pretty good goalscoring record and scored some special goals & some important ones too.
But at Scunthorpe we seem to only like a player who runs about a lot. The louche brilliance of an Eisa, a van Veen or a Paul Hayes doesn’t seem to cut it with the Glanford Park crowd.
I know I’d sooner watch Eisa than Paddy Madden most weeks though.

No more heroes anymore….

Hallam is a perma crock
Can we move on from this sort of language? Now we’ve heard from so many players about the mental health challenges of being injured, can’t we be a bit more sympathetic?
I get where you’re coming from about protecting the club’s interests and wondering whether resigning him is a good option but there are better ways of saying that.
Maybe couldn’t afford for him to accept if he didn’t find better deal elsewhere?
Strange that the club didn’t go out of its way to say that a contract was offered then? Like they did for players like Eisa & Van Veen.
Howard was average at best and I hope we can do better.
When did average come to mean “crap”? As in “there is a lot of average teams in this division”. People rarely use it to actually mean average.

Probably remains classified as a Motorway until the roundabout they are constructing actually opens and then it will be reclassified as the A1077.
I think it is fully open now and the A1077(M) signs are new, replacing M181 ones on part of the old motorway (weirdly, the bottom bit down to the M180 is still the M181).
And when will it be connected to Scotter road? Or are they waiting on more government money?
So far I’ve seen reference bto both svroundabout and traffic lights at the Scotter road end.
Hope it’s not the latter.I think the initial plan is to connect to Scotter Road opposite West Common Lane. I’ve also seen talk of a second roundabout on the old M181 which will “intercept” the road between Asda roundabout & Burringham.
No loss. I can’t believe how easy a ride Howard has been given despite all his gaffes this season. He very nearly cost us that point at Bradford which could easily have ended up costing us our league position.
Everyone was blaming Watson for, say, Forest Green but Howard came back in for the Newport game and we still conceded goals. Almost like our problems run deeper than just the goalkeeper.

“I have been asked recently why fans cannot buy shares currently and my answer is that there is no point or benefit to fans as we own over 90 per cent of the club.”
I don’t think anyone bought shares in SUFC as an investment or to have a say, it was about having a literal stake in the club and feeling part of it. Fans were proud to say they were shareholders. That sort of engagement could be useful in difficult times.
” I am quite aware of the difficulties surrounding democratic decisions on signing managers, players and coaches. You just cannot imagine signing someone with a 55 per cent acceptance and a 45 per cent non-acceptance, it just will not work.”
Was anyone suggesting we demand all signings be put to the popular vote? What was the club that tried doing this a few years ago (I think Matt Godden went there too). Somewhere near Dartford I think.

There will be managers out there who would take the job, BUT!
They would no doubt want some control over who they bring in, and we all know that’s unlikely.
Even if they didn’t, you’re unlikely to be shopping at the top of the new manager market. Even ambitious non-league managers are going to wonder whether the 90th best team in the league is the right place to come to.
You’d have to wonder exactly what quality of candidate we could attract if we did sack Cox.
Apparently the basis for his challenge is that the Iron Trust did not ask his permission to place the ACV on the clubs (then) only asset.
Or………..wait for it……………. “He would have agreed it!”
If that is true, it would be an extraordinary statement.
Sacking Cox would only be a sticking plaster. Wouldn’t deal with the main problems.

Back in the dim and distant past of reserve teams we didn’t have 18 man match day squads.
We didn’t play every Tuesday and Saturday, and we certainly didn’t have Mickey Mouse trophy competitions where the first games were in a mini league and the big clubs’ U21s were included
We had a reserve side well into this century and we played two-legged league cup ties and I think the Autowindscreens Shield, in its 90s guise, featured a mini league.
Unless the rules have changed it’s very difficult for small clubs to develop real talent given that the best are now taken by the bigger ones at a very early age.
In the current financial climate this was always likely to happen.
How have the rules changed in the last couple of years since the U23s plan was unveiled?
I think the move to scrap this is a real backwards step, I was fully onboard with having a dedicated development squad (although it would have been nice to see some more results from it by now but that doesn’t undermine the basic idea).
Completely disagree. It’s all well and good setting budget aside for u23’s “players for the future” when your already settled and have strong foundations but it’s nonsensical for us to plan ahead like that now.
Disagree. The whole point of it is to provide a proper future for the club, developing young talent. It’s all very well & good saying we have other priorities in the here & now but if you don’t plan for the future, you’ll regret it when the future comes.
The Howe signing has baffled me all along, I just don’t get it.
I think Howard has got a pretty easy ride, he’s made some atrocious errors this season, last week he nearly cost us a point right at the end of the season.
O’Malley has plenty of promise but defensively he’s got a lot to learn. There are some components of a good team in there but not enough of them.

I can’t see what’s remotely unfair about it.
This feels weird, I am in complete agreement with Bucks!
I don’t blame the Cods for trying it on but it is pretty desperate.
He’s a weird one is Bedeau: he looks a decent player, right up until the moment when he makes a ridiculous mistake. I think everyone would benefit for a new start for him.
Who was that Barrie?
Second final was a bit of a turkey, I gave up on that and took the dog out instead.
