I always thought the 3-D effect makes it look like someone trying to masturbate a steel section.
We already knew this but you have a strange, strange mind.
Good point AWG, especially these days now you can’t just turn up on the day and pay on the gate.

People use to complain about the marketing pre Swann and they will complain about marketing post Swann.
People only complain if they think things are not up to standard. You list the numbers of followers on social media accounts but they’re entirely meaningless – how many of those people are Scunthorpe United fans? Barely 20% I’d guess.
Why is it a bad thing to want the club to spread the word more widely, to attract more people to the ground? Surely that’s basic marketing, the fundamental cornerstone of any business?

Millen came back in from the cold at Vale, in our last game, didn’t he?
Scattergun approach..are you surprised considering what he had to pick from ?
Why’s Beestin barely had a look in? Why did Wood not get a game until last week when suddenly he’s first choice? Why did we switch to a back 3 for a couple of games and then ditch it? Where did Millen disappear to for a couple of weeks? What’s happened to Jarvis (not even on the bench despite having no other strikers available)?
Plenty of other examples. I get that in the early stages he’d want to have a good look at everyone but it’s still happening now and whilst I understand that the players available aren’t that great, you’d think that he would have some idea of his best (or least crap) side by now?

Why did we have to have 4 years of rapid decline before employing a manager that knows what he is doing and letting him get on with it?
Too little, too late?
We will see.
I remain to be convinced by Hill. He certainly talks a good game and has a decent track record but his scattergun approach to selection & poor results so far are not very encouraging. Here’s hoping he begins to change that on Saturday.

One of the (many) questions this all raises is why did we have to wait until the end of the window? I know a lot of clubs wait until the deadline but at the same time most of our signings are rejects & released players, could they not have come sooner? Like you say, they’re going to take a while to get up to speed and “a while” is something we don’t have!
Amen to that MK.
Saturday will be interesting – the two key players against Oldham away (Loft & Hippolyte) have left the club, will the replacements ensure they aren’t missed?

Who can argue that this side is not truly improved?
We don’t know yet, do we? All the players we’ve signed with the exception of the two strikers have been let go by clubs in our league. There must be a reason for that. Why hasn’t Nuttall played all season?
They may well be upgrades but given that the additions of Grant & Feeney did nothing to halt our run of defeats at Vale Park, I’m not holding my breath just yet. If anything, we seem to have gone from an inexperienced team to an ageing team.
This may be an upgrade, and I desperately hope that it is, but it seems a big stretch. Let’s hope you’re right & I’m wrong, up the Iron!
You would have thought that if there was any time for a big push on promoting the club in the town, this would be it. Big “SOS – Save Our Season” posters up, encouraging people to rally around. Why not take out a couple of billboards around the town? Hire one of those mobile sign vans to drive around the retail parks. Get players on the high street after training. Invite Calendar news along to training and give them some interviews. Let’s get people interested in the club again!

Isn’t he our top goalscorer? In fact, depending on the team sent out, he could be our only goalscorer.
Think Onarise has got one this season and you’d assume he’d start over Taft? Can’t think of many others though, you’re right.
Defense still looks pretty flimsy. With the honourable exception of Rory Watson.
The Chairman’s latest statement is probably the most frank, humble and honest one he has ever made.
Personally I am putting any anti ownership emotion on hold until the seasons outcome is determined. Time to wholeheartedly get behind the club and the team whilst we try and work the miracle.
If that’s what you take from this statement, it probably says more about the tone of previous statements.
I don’t see what’s changed: we’ve signed a bunch of rejects & unproven players at the last minute, replacing the “star” signings from last summer. We have seen it all before and it rarely works – remember how well it went three years ago when we barely won a game from February onwards?
I hope this last-gasp throw of the dice can save us but I can’t see any grounds for optimism. And even if it does save us, what will we do differently in the future to stop us ending up in this position in 12 months’ time?

Every chance Hippolyte will be playing in a higher division than his former Scunthorpe teammates next season.
He’d best start winning some games then!
I was stood next to an elderly fan at the Carlisle game in 2007 when we were League 1 champions. 10 minutes in he collapsed suffering a heart attack. Getting the attention of the St Johns’ responders let alone the club doctor was very difficult. Fortunately we were on the terrace so people could make space easily (would have been impossible in the seats) but you still had people nearby reacting the game and moving around whilst we were performing CPR. Stopping the game would have helped get medical assistance across more quickly and might have helped fans nearby realise we needed space.
So whilst it can be annoying, I can understand why it’s now standard protocol in these circumstances.

Forgot about Perry. Was classing Feeney as a wide player rather than a midfielder. Same as Lewis.
He’s got two experienced midfield players in since last week, we can maybe bring a centre back in now, midfield is covered IMO. Don’t forget Hackney is still on loan, maybe Hills thinking we should be covered till he returns, unless he’s binning him too.
Hackney out for another 3-4 games? Kenyon, Hippolyte & Wood all gone this week. Leaves Pugh, Beestin, Rowe & Grant I think?
Midfield’s starting to look a bit thin. Wonder why Hill didn’t give him a game until last week?
Really flourished this season and looked our only League standard midfielder. Why have we given him away to Stockport?
Update:
Cox 11 in 15, 0.73 ppg
Hill 8 in 13, 0.62 ppg1 user thanked author for this post.
I really hope Grant does sign, he’s exactly the type of midfielder we’ve been lacking for years. Absolutely bossed the middle of the park against us for Swindon first game of the season, made the rest of our midfield look like they were playing on quicksand!
Sounds promising but why are Swindon happy to let him go?
I know NI, I just don’t understand why people are getting their hopes up!4

After something like 3 years of signings who disappoint and underwhelm, I wish I had the optimism of some of the posters on here!

I for one am convinced that signing ageing players who’ve hardly played this season will definitely improve us and that injuries won’t be a recurring problem for the rest of the season.

Our squad must be getting pretty full, how many first team players are we allowed?
I think Pele might be right about KDT too, unless Stockport doesn’t count by being in the fifth tier?
The selection chaos you refer to is more of a case that players like Davis, Millen and Kenyon are out of the team because they were crap signings and because of performances when they were picked.
Pretty damning indictment of our off-field staff if the three experienced signings from the summer are not being picked within 6 months of arriving!
It doesn’t explain the disappearance & reappearance of players like Wood & Perry though.
One thing is clear to me though: if Beestin is going to play regularly, he’s got to track his man more when defending. For their first goal, he’s standing watching the unmarked player score. Hill mentioned this indirectly in his interview too.

Experienced CM and striker just what we need. BUT neither have played this season if Wiki is to be believed, Keith must be confident or desperate.
I’m going with the latter and understandably so!
