I was being sarcastic with awaywego Pat (as I’m sure he well knows), hence my refererence to Saddlergate (another fine mess he got himself in to). It’s just a bit of fun 🙄

‘For next season, keep the young uns, Rory’
Can’t see him staying when he gets an offer to stay in the league on better wages at a club with a better atmosphere and prospects. And who would blame him?

‘Swanny acquired the land next to the stadium and turned it into the training ground’

Clearly not more or less about improvements but an unfounded claim about land ownership! And naff all to do with ‘narratives’.

Yep, and that’s very different to ‘Swann/the club did all they could to keep us up’ with quite different connotations and implications. You make it sound like they were defending Swann, and so much you felt like vomiting. Massive exaggeration and distortion of reality. At no point did they defend Swann.

Let’s be fair on Brad and Matt Alcy, at no point did either say ‘Swann/the club did all they could to keep us up.’ The early part of the discussion was around some good business done in the Jan window, Hill being allowed to get in better players, but acknowledging it was all too little too late. I thought it was a fair and balanced take on the pitch side position. The root of the problems that have got the club to this desperate point have been covered umpteen times over the last few years and that clearly wasn’t the focus of this particular podcast.

Without a couple of wins on the spin and the ball game is National League

Ignoring WG’s way off the mark comments about Alcy, I don’t think supporters still paying to attend matches appreciate ‘I told you so’ comments right now. None of us have anything to gain from pointing out how early in the owner’s tenure we detected serious issues. The here and now is more important and some fans want to discuss on field matters rather than looking back. I believe that’s what this thread is about?

Amusing that both Awaywego and Alcy have said they rarely attend home games anymore.

‘On this result I reckon we registered our last ever league win on Tuesday night.’

Think we’ll get at least a few wins at home and the odd point but obviously nowhere near enough. Just can’t see another 7-8 wins

Lol, whatever! As far as I can tell reading back you read one statement relating to the matter and started telling him what he already knows with nitpicking thrown in to try and look smart. When he said ‘our own stadium’ I’m sure he’s fully aware of the technicalities.

‘We pay our old chairman £450k per year for the luxury of playing at our own stadium and it’s crippling.’

I’ll take his word on the situation thanks.

Maybe he wondered why a Scunny fan would think he knew more about the club he supports and decided to give it a miss?

    Chimera:
a thing which is hoped for but is illusory or impossible to achieve.

    Example:
“the economic sovereignty you claim to defend is a chimera”
