Played against Rick mid 80s and he embarrassed me-probably relayed that one before.

I only remember Deere as a CB. Would have been ’75, 76?

I think that was more like 68 I-A, but you’re right.

What wouldn’t we give to be able to choose from Deere, Welbourne and Atkin in defence?

Over rated that Steve Deere 🤣

‘You can’t win anything with kids’. Came back to haunt Hansen, but we’re not talking the class of ’92 here!

What’s the source? That’s staggering! Wasn’t Paddy on £3k last season? I can see how he might now be on £5k, but Kyle? Definitely on the up (not his uppers Ferrite 😉🤣)

Keith’s Hot Pot? In the new ‘fanzone’? I’d pay £6 for that! A ready supply of lambs to the slaughter next season so I’m expecting big things!

First car I had was an orange Marina. Shock absorbers were gone. Used to bounce like it was on a trampoline over potholes. Had to glue a metal plate under the carpet on the passenger side after discovering a massive rusting hole there. Worked though!

Churchills learning to drive for me. Passed first time in 1984 despite my grouchy instructor telling me I’d failed the pre-test lesson. Got lucky on the test I guess!

Agree about Wooly. Another good player in a very good side. Seems like distant memory.

I was referring to Ferrite’s post about Liam Trotter immediately above mine Mick, not Togwell. The post seems to have disappeared.

Good player. He went to Millwall after us, or was it before? He made a difference when he came on if I recall.

I had a feeling someone would point out ‘league’ Ferrite. Didn’t think it would be you though! 🤣. However, I will say, a league is a league, and the National is a league…so there! Bit discriminatory towards the National too I might add 😅

Never thought we’d be playing against them again in a league match. Vague memories of beating them 2-0 (?) at the OSG early in the season on a sunny Saturday afternoon. 1976 or 1977 maybe? Think they went out the league that season?

Not impressed to say the least and don’t think he’s the man, however, I do have a track record of talking bollocks, so I’ll give it 10 weeks in to the new season. Can’t be changing manager right now. Too far in to to pre-season.

I always associate Allegro’s with Austin (yes I know it was still BL) and Marina’s with Morris. Both sounded good. Both quickly turned in to rusting heaps of crap!

Thought bill was referring to that excellent knock by Root at Trent Bridge and had got the spelling wrong. Think folks will take a while to realise the non football forum is back as it doesn’t appear on the main menu, just the Blast Furnace.

Please, no one let on to Alcy!

Not the sort of thread to entice anyone back really.

But someone has to be first.

Bill got a call from a higher power to let him know he could recommence the Lord’s good work I reckon 😀😉

Ramsdale has had an excellent season for his club, as have most the squad.

Crikey, there’s a long list! Are you writing a book on me? 🤣

All the above is true and accurate btw. Regarding the first point on England matches, I did say previously that I have little interest in the competition, and that remains the case. You might also note above that I watched last night’s match (and the Germany and Italy games) just for some, any, footy to watch, plus nothing better doing, and it was free to watch. Still think it’s a pointless competition but I can offer a valid view on Southgate / England players!

We struggled big time to create many decent goalscoring opportunities. Unless there’s recruitment to address that, where are the goals coming from?

Watched most of the last few England games for some footy to watch. Everyone knows Southgate’s tactics are too defensive but last night’s performance was on the players shoulders. None of them looked like they wanted to be there in any of the games I saw. If you play with a half assed attitude, skulking around the pitch because you’d rather be on the beach, that’s what’s going to happen against a decent enough side who want to beat you.

Don’t know how old the info was, or how accurate, but I read somewhere yesterday that the average player wage in the National is £700 a week. Is that likely to be roughly what our average players are on with maybe a few on £1k?
