Maybe the biggest laugh I have all day…

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the former business secretary, told GB News on Thursday the job offer “shows that there was a socialist cabal of Boris-haters who were delighted to remove him”.

I’m assuming those further to the left (in general) are critical of Starmer’s decision? Can they get a new T shirt or poster out of it?

It seems that huge breaches of international law mean little if it’s Russia breaching it, daily.

That last paragraph could be interpreted two ways. They’re a grubby little pair aren’t they. Kind of deserve each other on an island somewhere. Preferably not this one.

‘spending billions on this proxy war, even though we cannot properly arm our own army and navy due to cuts and the usual procurement issues’

    Farage said something quite similar.

I’ve stated before why I don’t think it’s a ‘proxy war’. Can you explain with evidence why it is? I agree that the US can be justifiably accused of proxy wars in the past, but this isn’t one of them.

So little nastiness and so much encouragement when we were at our lowest. I wish them well.
I reckon the “We hate cod ‘eds” chant has gotta go.

‘Cancel’ it you mean? Not interested in singing it myself but I respect every Iron fans right to sing it. Uphold the rivalry!

Stockport are a good case in point. It can be done, just hope they’re not running up a huge debt though I think they are if memory serves. One of the things I like about Hilton is his vision to get get back to league status sustainably.

Wishing them well, through gritted teeth. Can’t bring myself to be that happy for them though I’m glad the long round trip was worth it for the fishy fans and good for the club coffers.

Any comments on the John McDonnell article or the Eliot Higgins Tweet content btw? That’s also on the OP.

Not sure why anyone would find it odd. Anyone is able to set up an account on here, and many do, and view the board without posting. There are many Putin apologists out there, as I would call them, as I’m sure you know. The OP title isn’t particularly aimed at any one person, it’s for the attention of Putin apologists, but not confined to them. Does that explanation clear it up for you? There are many things I find odd about what people post on here, someone posting that subject title wouldn’t be one of them.

Sorry, memory fade, I’ve seen you use the term ‘proxy war’ in reference to the current situation, which is a term often used by those Putin apologists I personally know and those in the public eye. As far as I’m aware Zelensky asked for help from other countries after Ukraine was invaded by Russia. Unless you or anyone else know different? I haven’t seen any evidence to convince me that the US encouraged Ukraine to start a war on it’s behalf. Just for clarity too, I would describe a ‘Putin apologist’ as anyone who said or continues to claim that Putin was pushed and provoked in to invading Ukraine, and therefore apologising for his actions. If anyone thinks that applies to them, on here or anywhere else, so be it.

‘The reaction I’m getting to these pieces from people I know on the Left who oppose arming Ukraine is complete silence’

Aimed at people on here? No. Unless you feel you need to explain your stance on the issue? You haven’t made it explicit as far as I’m aware.

If it ends up with shares unsold, perhaps the energy companies will buy some on our behalf, given how much they’re fleecing us!

It wouldn’t surprise me if someone said that tbh, but I’d wager most supporters aren’t that paranoid!

Is it still everyone’s opinion then that Swanny (coolsilk) still intends to sell the ground and land for development specially now he got some mug to buy the football club off him without a ground, what an astute business man he is.

I doubt that’s ñot many’s opinion, and particularly not ‘everyone’s’. It’s one thing some supporters having legitimate caution due potential risks while Coolsilk still own it, quite another speculating that Swànn is intending to sell the land for development, even more so at this stage of proceedings. You’re putting 2 and 2 together and making 5.

Nothing weird about people’s thinking awaywego. It’s a considerable sum of money far the majority of supporters. Whilst Coolsilk still own it, that may present more risks.

Potential bad press in the latter too. Don’t wash your dirty laundry in public. That’s what Hilda Ogden used to say anyway…

    Or was it Dot Cotton?

    Possibly Annie Sugden

Very good critique of Bill Maher interviewing Dawkins in this new episode:

Found it useful to watch the interview itself first. The podcast was quite an eye opener for me – hadn’t realised how much Maher was spinning a narrative and using anti-vax tropes. I’ll certainly be a bit more dilligent listening to these guru types in future. There’s definitely an art to the seduction. In retrospect Dawkins seems a bit miffed about the roads Maher goes down, and a little disappointing he fell back on an old association with him, but then he perhaps didn’t realise he had to be so vigilant with Maher?

When this many new faces arrive, there’s going to be good and bad days at the office. I’m surprised how some people on social media in general seem to be turning on Dean already. Blimey, get things in to perspective!
