Hi Patrick, thought I’d come back you (it would be rude not to), but perhaps best we wind our conversation up soon to leave space for other topics. Going to be tricky corresponding directly to meet up at Ilkeston as obviously neither of us want to be making our contact details public on a forum like this. A visit tomorrow is out the question for me as, contrary to popular opinion, I do have a life! However, as you work at the club, when I can make it over, I’ll ring ahead and take you up on that offer of a pie and a pint. Cheers, and all the best for the rest of the season.

I’ve already ordered a load more due to the strange goings on at Glanford Park.

You’re kidding me. Me and awaywego have booked train tickets to sample the pies and claim our free pints!

Did find ‘you are a negative pain in the arse’ amusing. What as opposed to a positive one? 🤣

This is a very odd way of going about things Patrick. Do you not think some Scunny supporters are going to be sceptical about your sudden appearance and exhaltations regarding ‘Mr Hilton’?

‘the chairman and his staff can sit down and begin to put forward a strategy’.

    Is that how it works?

No doubt the pies are the most satisfying sumptuous pies ever tasted at a football ground.

I’m sure our new friend Patrick can enlighten you on food at Ilkeston awaywego and what the plans are for next season.

I’m keen to take up that offer of having a look round Ilkeston Town. Was hoping he’d give me a guided tour. Patrick! Patrick! Patrick! Where’s he gone??

‘would you still clap and cheer’? Yes, and tell everyone to stop criticising him and shout them down.

BBC York commentators spent a fair chunk of their time bemoaning what was happening at the club when we played them. Sounded very uncertain

Used to really like him, he said. Think Swann used to like Jeff Stelling before he crossed him

Patrick, have you posted your views above on the Scunny Fans Facebook group yet? Easy to find, but beware of flying buns, short fuses and division. It’s like viewing a scrap on Scunny High St at 2am on a Saturday night! You’ll certainly have an audience though. All the best for Ilkeston Town. Hopefully get over there soon – the ‘breathtaking improvements’ sound fantastic.

Personally I think many supporters are refusing to entertain any scepticism due to the trauma of the Swann era. Not a healthy place to be. It’s not like Hilton doesn’t have huge support. Look at the rise in attendances and the away following since he arrived. We can still support the club, the team AND ask questions of new schemes, issues with credit cards payments, substantial content about plans for the future, the stadium and land, etc. Unfortunately, any questioning seems to get shut down or drowned out by people with support for Hilton and Dean bordering on religious fervour. It should be possible to accept people’s questioning whilst ignoring the more unsubstantiated claims and allegations being bandied around.

All very commendable Patrick, no denying that. Though tbh, there’s barely been any criticism, particularly on this forum. There’s a fair few questions being asked about the 1899 scheme and credit card payments for season tickets. I don’t see what’s wrong with that? I saw an exchange between Mr Hilton and a someone else on Twitter last night and shortly after he deleted his account (don’t blame him). This didn’t appear to be an Iron supporter. A Frank interview or in conversation with BBC Humberside or the Iron Bru podcast might be useful?

‘How can any team really prepare for NLN now ?.’ Yes, kinda my point. But I’ve seen numerous times on here over the last few weeks how we’re preparing for NLN. Admittedly it’s only a few saying it multiple times!

I also don’t buy this, ‘preparing for the NLN’ angle being touted recently too. If that’s the case, why throw the kitchen sink at transfers like the club has done (continuing right in to the last few weeks)? That looks like nothing else but trying to stay in this league to me. Reason I raise it is because I can’t see much preparation being done for NLN. Not to say there isn’t any, just feels like s*** or bust

Don’t think you can hold Hilton to account when it comes to regular updates to many imo.

What updates? I don’t class his old Tweets as ‘updates’ of much substance tbh. The updates on the website and official Twitter feed are meat and two veg stuff about the team or trying to sell us stuff. Have we had any interviews with him or further updates about the club’s situation? Like you often say awaywego, the owner can do as he pleases. Fair enough, I’d prefer a bit more substance though, and doubt I’m alone.

I think best err on the side of caution. Seems to be more questions than answers though. We’ll see. Be good if we had some sort of regular club update explaining things. It would help circumvent a lot of rumour. One thing I know, I’m glad I never Tweet, or post anything on the Scunny Fans Facebook Group. Bru’s very civilised in comparison!
