I know full well where are in the league; additionally I’ve seen us on a tight budgets before in league 2 where with a solid recruitment strategy and a scout who wasn’t employed because he’s the chairman’s son, we consistently brought in a calibre of player who was fit for purpose.
Nothing would please me more than Sinclair to bag 2 tonight and put in a MOTM performance, but in the cold light of day he is a young kid and getting thrown into a league 2 relegation dogfight with a poor side.
Stevenage have signed a few experienced heads and are 2 wins and 2 draws in January. We, on the other hand, haven’t scored a goal. Stevenage have historically rarely had more than 3k through the gates. Why can they do it ?
If the yardstick for our signings this January is ‘anything better than KDT’ we really are up shit creek.
As with any player, sincerely wish the lad the best of luck here.
However, he’s not a player with a track record that suggests he’s going to help get us out of the mire.
Really ?. He has plenty of games under his belt so has experience, not scored that many goals but got a run at the end of last season and scored a few.
Least he’s not come here as a rookie. I suppose that’s a step forward at least !
30 odd games for Mansfield and a loan spell at Radcliffe isn’t plenty of games.
As with any player, sincerely wish the lad the best of luck here.
However, he’s not a player with a track record that suggests he’s going to help get us out of the mire.

You’ve already answered the question:
Improving training facilities; plus the installation of a fanzone within the ground. Their biggest improvement- which ironically is free- is their supporter engagement, hence the 6k crowds. Not bad for a less than a year at the helm, and a significant more than we’ve done in 9 years and £12 million wasted.

There’s a world of difference in running an operating loss and pumping money into the infrastructure for the long term future of a club. Eventually it will pay dividends, as seen at Lincoln.
It’s what Swann should have invested his millions in when he first arrived. Improve facilities; improve supporter engagement; improve the long term sustainability rather than trying to massage his ego by chasing a championship dream that no reasonable Scunthorpe supporter would expect.
After all his millions, bluster and bullshit we are left with an ageing, tired looking stadium; basic training facilities, attendances at a 30 year low; and probably the worst football team ever assembled in our 72 years as a league team.

Confirms what we all thought; He hasn’t a pot to piss in and the club will be running at cost. Couple this with our disastrous recruiting over the last few years and it’s frightening to think where we might end up.

I can’t believe that. After getting new owners I thought they’d be storming the league.
At least they have some nice food to keep the ‘customers’ happy.
5,800 at home to Bromley today. Owners Spending a lot of time/money investing in the foundations to build the club upon whilst actively engaging with the supporters.
It may not be this season but they will be back in the EFL within the next few years

Watson was outstanding. The lad deserves a contract with a league club at the end of the year.
Not upset with the performances anymore, players seem to be still trying so that’s all I can ask for.
The Atmosphere is starting to turn nasty again and I suspect it will steadily get worse as the season progresses.

That’s funny uptheiron, I heard it directly from the chairman’s mouth that we could potentially lose up to £1million this year at the season ticket holders meeting.
Porky’s are being told by either you or Swann.

Wake me up when the season ends.
Shit show of a club

3rd one looks smart, hope it doesn’t clash with Weymouth’s next year
Oh for a Cammack, O’Berg, Grimes, Neenan, Partridge, Pilling, Oates, Green. Always put a shift in.
In fairness, so does this years team most of the time.
Just nowhere near good enough

Ultimately, it’s men against boys. If Jarvis would have bagged that chance then we may have salvaged a point, however it wouldn’t have been deserved and we were outplayed throughout.
We are asking a young lad who’s never played league football before and a bloke who’s scored 14 in 41 for Basingstoke to score enough goals to keep us up. It’s incompetent at best.
17 games left to go and I’m convinced the end of 72 years of league football is nigh. For those who are staying away, I’d advise popping down once or twice before the end of the season.

New lad is getting a baptism of fire here- if he doesn’t get some protection in the second half they will score down that side.
Not creating anything again; can see our only chance of scoring will come from a set play.
Desperately needed a right back- so that’s a positive at least.
Shows how much Millen is rated by Hill
A sad indicator of how disillusioned everybody is.
To be honest, I’m not even that bothered what league we end up; it would just be nice to take over 1,000 to an away game again and have a feel good factor about the club.
Following the discontent from the Harrogate game- culminating in the locking of the gate- Swann played a blinder by arranging the season ticket/shareholder holder meetings and consequently putting the brakes on anything substantial happening.
I expect things will turn ugly at the end of the season when the inevitable happens; Scunthorpe fans aren’t the most partisan out there but there’s a-lot of bad feeling at the moment and something will have to give.
Can’t see him wanting a relegation on his CV- a few more defeats this month may see him walk.
Good post apb- sums up my feelings at the moment.
Rock bottom will definitely not be the national league with Swann at the helm; crowds will continue to drop and sooner rather than later I wouldn’t be surprised if he completely cut off life support.

Unless there is some major recruiting (to be done ( which we are know there won’t be) then we are as good as down.
Got young kids stepping in to try and save the clubs football league status; hard to criticise but it’s a ruthless game and they should not be playing.
Trying to win a professional game with: no strikers on the pitch, a sub standard right mid/striker masquerading as a fullback and 2 academy graduates is just pathetic.
Carlisle are pulling away so we could soon be stranded after this month.
Cheers Peter

Read a couple of articles stating Loft
links up play well and has good ball control. They are probably his 2 worst assets. Our local journalist’s are about as accurate as our strikers these days

If Swann was there on Saturday he will know that whoever replaces Loft can’t possibly do any worse, at least the young lad will be trying.
I’m amazed to learn that Barton was there on Saturday and still signed him, unless Barton & Weaver tossed a coin and the loser had to sign Loft.If Barton was there on Saturday then it’s baffling he still pressed ahead with the deal.
You know it’s written in the stars that will Loft will send us down last game of the season too.

Loft- at the moment- is an 8 goal a year striker. Apart from a superb second half performance against Oldham he has contributed precious little this year. In addition His link up play and control for a big lad is abysmal. It’s a shame he didn’t offer more because he has all the attributes to be a good lower league striker.
Saying that, it all depends on who replaces him. A young lad from an u23 team probably isn’t going to cut it in a league 2 relegation dogfight.
Agree Mick.
It sent alarm bells ringing when we brought on the young academy lad for his debut in replacement for Loft. Looked to have raw talent but in no way should be expected to turn a game around for us- especially one as important as that.

Really disappointed with the result.
Terrible communication at the back put us 1-0 down and never had confidence we would get the 2 goals despite having the lions share of possession. Poor decision making in the final third throughout, Howard never really looked troubled.Carlisle were another poor side and we’ve gifted them a result today. Need to get some quality in this month

Think the Oldham result has skewed opinion. Still woefully short of quality and need 3/4 players minimum to have a hope of staying up.
Huge game tomorrow. After Carlisle we have 4 of the top 8 to play. Need to get some points on board now as draws at
Home against struggling teams aren’t enough.Carlisle really struggled with Jarvis at their place- would be tempted to stick him up front with Loft with Bunn sitting in behind.

Can’t agree with CBRP over getting rid of Perry. He is certainly nowhere near the finished product but a guy who can pass a bit like Tony Curry yet needs to toughen up and have a bit better overview of games is well worth persevering with.
Besides, he only has a dozen first team games under his belt. He is guaranteed to improve with experience and building up muscle tone. Our centre mids are currently:
Perry
Hallam
Hippo
Pugh
Beestin
Wood
Hackney
Rowe
KenyonIdeally, Wood would be sent back and Hallam would be released. However, no-one is taking Hallam so at least with Perry someone might take a punt on him with a free transfer or a loan.
Feels like ages since we’ve played at home so it’s disappointing in that respect, but in the grand scheme of things this will do little harm. Longer time for the players to recuperate and we are going into another huge game against Carlisle on the back of win.
