Why are people so shocked by someone committing a criminal offence being handcuffed? He leaped over the perimeter wall to attack a steward!
Moron
Respectfully disagree.
Not going to start jumping on the lad because he’s had 2 bad games- and they have been poor.
He’s dramatically improved all areas of his game this year; seen rubbish being wrote that his doesn’t command his area; 90% of of this season he has commanded it well. Some of the saves have been fantastic and he’s almost single handedly kept us in games- Newport at home being an example.
He’s the only one who done the shirt proud this year, and the only one I’ll bother clapping off come the end of the season.

It’s a scary prospect to think that Our recruitment team have to go out in the summer and bring in another 15-20 players to make our squad competitive.
Unless there are fundamental changes in How we recruit players then our stay in the national league could be a brief one.

Seasons 2004-05 to 2011-12
Memories:
You never realise the value of something
Until all you have left are the memories!I fondly look back at the years of Lawsy’s first era- 98 onwards.
Plenty of goals; entertainment; characters in the team; some cracking home/away atmospheres and a couple of good cup runs.
It may not have reached the heights of Adkins’ era, but A promotion/relegation into the then division 2, a couple of play off campaigns and the odd season in mid table obscurity was not to be sniffed at, we were the embodiment of a well ran lower league club.
Even the 03-04 season when we almost got relegated to non league was entertaining with Torps, Beagrie, hayes, McClean et al, and I’m sure convinced we would’ve been able to return to the league in a few years.
That was the club I grew up with-one which I was proud to support,-which is such a contrast to the current set up.

1989
That’s including S’ticket holders who won’t be bothering- myself included.
He was of very few I’d have kept in for next season- but like someone said, the further down the leagues you go, geography plays a bigger role in attracting/keeping players.
As always, the million dollar question is what plan do we have in place for next year? Over the past few years it’s been nothing, however with Simon Elliot on board, it at least offers a glimpse of optimism.

If no league club comes in for him this summer I’d be surprised.
Seems to be have improved all areas of his game and his shot stopping/reflexes are excellent.
League 2 goalkeepers especially are rarely the finished article, football league highlights are littered with GK errors, when they become competent in all areas- especially under 30- they are destined for the higher divisions
He’s had a good season, but I’d be surprised if he stays in the football league.
Reckon we’ve got a chance of keeping hold of him?
I believe that Swann can’t sell the club because he will get nowhere near what he’s put in, back. No potential investor will consider us without the training ground/Ground thrown in as part of the deal. So we are pretty much stuck in a stalemate.
I expect us To be run at cost next year with no more losses covered by the board.
Simon Elliot (non executive director) looks to be becoming the face of the board, I would expect Swann to take a backseat next year which will be a blessing for all of us.The budget for next year will probably (in my opinion) based on us averaging between 2-2500 fans which gives us a mid table budget for the national league.
However, because our recruitment is so catastrophically bad- which the chairman’s son is lead scout on- we will really struggle to assemble as side which can make any serious dent in the league. If we avoid a relegation battle next year then that will be a success.

An absolute shower of shite again.
Sooner we are relegated the better so we can just move on from this nightmare.
Hate going to games this year and there’s not a chance I’ll be purchasing a ST next year with Swann still at the helm.

Think the first nails where hammered in last night! just can’t see us winning 3 more games this season let alone 3 more then the other teams around us.
Think the coffin is more metal than wood now it’s had that many final nails hammered in.
I thought the expectation was he wouldn’t be here next year.
*hope

Been game over since the Carlisle result. Had to get the win there before those tough run of fixtures.
Anyone know the record low points total for the league ?

London away trip for The first time would’ve usually attracted 500+ down there- me included.
Absolutely no chance this sack of shite deserve such support.
Still genuinely think we will do well to reach 30 points .

The club didn’t have any vision back then.
We were pissing away money which we could never sustainably afford, eventually it got us £11million debt and cost us our ground and land.

For the first time this season I’ll be missing a home game voluntarily.
Something about that Rochdale second half finally broke my spirit.
Expect Northampton to bring 400+ so it should keep the crowd about 2000

Who cares? The players and officials who don’t need the aggravation and chance of being assaulted?!
I must have missed these assaults in all the reports I’ve read from Saturday.
Players have been hit by stuff chucked from people in the stands – are we to ban people from stands now?
Look, I’ve no problem with people being kicked out for being idiots, that’s obvious. I just don’t understand why we have become some puritanical about people coming on the pitch. When you watch replays of that Ronnie Radford goal at Hereford, do you clutch your pearls and worry about the Newcastle players?
All about context.
Wasn’t a particularly important game for Rochdale and there’s a few lads just strolling around taunting our players.

Why peacefully? Man utd, Oldham, Birmingham, Reading, Oldham and Walsall haven’t been peaceful, better not protest at all if thats all people can come up with is singing “we want swanny out we want swanny out” from what folk have said he doesn’t even attend to hear.
Where did I mention just singing Swanny out?
There’s more than one way to put a point across.
Hard to argue with any of it.
Id argue the ground’s current state is not just the fault of the Swann’s though, but a collective neglect from past regimes.
Should’ve been modernised 15 years ago.
Similar disappearing act at Gainsborough when he realised that there’s more to running a club that spunking millions.
Hopefully before the season is out, we manage to get our acts together and show the chairman what we think of his stewardship (peacefully of course )
An ego bruising in the media seems to be the only way of getting a response these days
Hill out?
No.
But thus far it’s been a painfully poor showing; today especially, he failed to react what was going on during the second half. I expected us to still be relegated even when he was appointed because of the mess he inherited, but I expected to see some improvement.
There’s a middle ground where I believe people can still support the club and yet still be in opposition to the hierarchy.
I would like to believe that but I’m not sure how you can show your dissatisfaction with the ownership whilst still turning up to games and handing over your hard-earned? Because money is what really counts.
I must admit, it’s very strange to see how apathetic supporters are at home games – virtually no protests, just a resigned acceptance.
Scunthorpe fans often do themselves a disservice with the lack of organisation; even the very mild ‘protest’ at the forest green game when the gates were locked drew enough media attention to force Swann into holding face-face meetings with shareholders/ season ticket holders.

I don’t know why some supporters think that we will be ok if we drop into non-league football. We definitely WON’T with the SWANN family still owning our Club. There would have to be some massive changes. = New owners, bigger playing budget. Even with changes its is very, very difficult to re-gain league status and I would imagine our Club would be folded. With SWANNS track record surely everyone must realize now that him and his family have no interest whatsoever in Scunthorpe United existing as football club.
I don’t think it’s the fact that everyone is thinking it’s ok, probably closer to the fact that we need some optimism to keep us attending games, or else what’s the point ?
Southend are in a worse position than us, both on and off the field and seem to have galvanised themselves recently. Oldham have fallen from greater heights than ourselves and have an owner who really doesn’t give a f**k, yet their away support the other week was fantastic.
Every opinion from a Scunthorpe I’ve spoken too/read on here and elsewhere all know we are in non-league for the long haul, and the national league may not be the point we bottom out; but at some point you’ve got to accept the situation and support the club in whatever way you can.

Some good local(ish) games in Stockport, Grimsby, Chesterfield, Notts County, Halifax. Few more London Games and some teams we will never have seen.
Losing our league status is no longer a pressing concern, it will be nice to not go 15 games without a win and see some
More goals/entertainment; whether that’s against Tranmere or Maidenhead makes no difference.1 user thanked author for this post.
We were actually putting together some good attacks- the most fluid we’ve looked in some time- until that act of sheer stupidity from Matheson changed the dynamic completely.

Walsall was a fantastic result, but in reality it was our worst performance of the season (minus Harrogate) for the first 30 minutes.
Can’t see anything other than a Swindon win, but happy to be proved wrong.
Always do things the hard way,
but nevertheless, victory never tasted sweeter. Everyone left it out there tonight and showed some resilience and character that’s long been missing.Great to see the scenes at full time too; 2,100 in the ground and it felt double that at times during the 2nd half. Well done Scunny fans on getting behind them tonight.
Although, Someone needs to hold a whip round and get an upgrade on the drum.

I don’t think I’ve seen so many fans sing in unison before in our away end for many a year. Far louder than the likes of Grimsby, Bradford, Sunderland whom Have filled it in recent times.
Credit to their club given the situation.
