This squad is shambolic
We keep signing crap players
The match day experience is appalling
Crowds will continue to fall
Lower crowds = less to spend on a new squadAnd Finally, The chairman is a disgrace! (In my opinion)
He’s done all this to Scunthorpe United and I fear we will fall further!!16 users thanked author for this post.
March 19, 2022 at 6:40 pm #233892Grimsby and Southend are struggling to make the playoffs alone with their crowd income, so I would imagine we will struggle with ours, but it can be done as other teams have shown here’s hoping.
March 19, 2022 at 7:04 pm #233894This side would struggle in the National League but that’s academic because this side won’t actually be playing in the national league.
Most will be released or jump ship voluntarily if they get any sort of offer elsewhere.
Assuming Swann doesn’t try and just wrap things up (which wouldn’t totally surprise me) we’ll have the usual late influx of desperate bargain basement signings – of the ‘has been’ and ‘never will be’ variety along with the usual half a dozen 18 and 19 year olds on loan to pad out the squad numbers.
I wouldn’t fall off my chair in surprise if we’re not scanning the national league north by this time next year wondering what local derbies we can look forward to on 2023/24.
Hats off to Swann. In a perverse way it takes rare talent to be such a monumental and consistent failure as a football club chairman on and off the field over such a lengthy period of time.

March 19, 2022 at 7:06 pm #233895I don’t think we will struggle…I know we will. Lower budget next season when season ticket sales hit an all time low, equals even worse players than this season, all carefully selected by our amazing chief scout. Stumble through next season and then I think Ernest will put his ultimate plan into action (in my opinion).

March 20, 2022 at 9:46 am #233932It’s a scary prospect to think that Our recruitment team have to go out in the summer and bring in another 15-20 players to make our squad competitive.
Unless there are fundamental changes in How we recruit players then our stay in the national league could be a brief one.

It is achievable, because the recruitment plan seems to be no different to the previous 4 seasons. The owner now has his new toy at Blackpool and who will trust what he says ? This is all of his own making, it is the money wasted that has us at the relegation drop. The rubbish purchased and their paid wages defy explanation.
Hallam must be how to throw money down a drain – and then to give him another 2 years, mind boggling.
Season ticket sales will fall, gates will fall and the creator of the demise will blame everyone else !

March 20, 2022 at 3:23 pm #233952With Swann at the helm with no money then we’re only going one way

sadly a real and distinct possibility….
Question … if we had played this squad in the NL this season where do you think we would of finished ?? , i suggest NOT top half of table more likely bottom half just scrapping it to avoid relegation.
