The marquee has been a welcome addition to creating a better all round match day atmosphere. As you mention, it encourages people to come down earlier and spend money.
What Hilton needs to be looking at is expanding on this, not taking away. The iron bar isn’t fit for purpose, in an ideal world it would be knocked down and a more adequate replacement built; Fleetwood’s bar is the best example I’ve seen in lower league football.
If not, Can we take away the car parking spaces directly behind the DRE and expand the area where fans can gather, a couple of bottled beer bars and another food outlet would do a roaring trade.
Additionally I thought that the fenced off area near Debenhams was proposed as fans zone ?

Few sniggers from us before we attempted it. Huge part of our game that’s been missing so good to see Dean capitalising on it
Don’t get bored of saying it: Butterfield is just head and shoulders above everyone else on the field
Some really good individual performances today; turned into a scrappy affair in the second half but when we got it down and played we looked like a ‘proper’ team.
Still think it’s a huge ask but we’ve given ourselves a chance

We managed to blag our way into the away end at Harrogate a couple of years ago without away tickets as it sold out.
Karma was a bitch that day.

Yep plenty of choice as everybody is saying, looks like Shrimpton has been hung out to dry then!, cass withstanding of course.
Problem with so many centre mids. The positive is now we have real options off the bench rather than relying on 16 year olds
I hope to be proven wrong but I can’t see the new gaffer working well with Butterfield.

Still no clarification on the status of the stadium and land, we know it was included in the sale but where did it end up?
Everyone was up in arms when it went over to Coolsilk.
I’ve only seen him as Left back and briefly as CDM. Not sure where else he can play as he doesn’t seem to have the pace or the skill to play higher up? A decent cross is all well and good but a competent right back when you have neither of these attributes won’t let you deliver crosses.
When we got relegated last year he was one of the few players I thought an EFL might snap up as he didn’t look out of place. This year, however, he just seems to have lost his way and been at fault for a number of goals.
In all honesty, he is one of number of players like Rowe, Hallam, Taft whom have only ever been used to losing whilst here. A new opportunity is probably best for all parties.
Seems like the new manager doesn’t rate O’Malley which is a bit unfortunate.
There’s a player there but he’s had a poor season. Probably 3rd choice left back at the minute.

Both need to be out playing games. If they manage to stay fit they will be a hell of an asset at that level for Ilkeston
Anecdotal, but there were almost a dozen of us there on Friday- most of whom never attend, and half said they wanted to return with their kids.
One thing even Wharton failed to do was capitalise on floating support; we aren’t going to overnight start averaging 8,000 like Lincoln did but there is scope to grow off the field.
Our prices have always been reasonable, however, as a previous poster alluded too, we are likely dropping down to regional football next year so prices will have to reflect that. With some clever marketing, positive momentum and the likelihood of actually winning some games, There is no reason we can’t be close averaging 4K next year.
It will be good to see what the chairman’s vision is, any chance of podcast with him SST?

It looks the business but ffs turn the contrast down.

Shame that the extra supporters didn’t get to see a more entertaining game.
One thing the new owner has to look at though is the facilities of Glanford Park. The ground was 60% full and it felt like everything was at breaking point. Even Bromley at home felt a stretch and it was 40% full.
People were outside unable to buy food/drink an hour before kick off because of the ques.
Got to start maximising our earning potential; there is an abundance of space at Glanford Park.

Poor tonight; typical with a big crowd in.
Barnet to their credit looked a well oiled outfit, similar to Woking. We look miles behind them.
New keeper and centre back is a must. Owens’s going to be a good keeper but he’s just too young to be playing first team football, the centre backs are just not good enough full stop.
Gerry looked a handful and took his goal well, just a shame we couldn’t create more as hoofball was the order of the day.
On the positive, the new players that came on all enhanced the side. Ferris will be a success here- a proper winger. Ogle continues to impress also.
From where we were a few weeks ago, tonight was fantastic. 5,000 home fans whilst 23rd in the national league; great stuff.

Didn’t we have 8k at home playing Forest at home in league one too on a Friday?

Just seems to the case. Kick off time or it not eating into people’s weekend; I don’t know.
Wrexham at home in FA cup was well attended back in the early 00’s and Yeovil at home in 2006 was packed to the rafters and they opened up the away end.
Looking at current sales there could be 5k home fans there tonight. To put it into perspective, that’s more than there was for Rotherham at home in the league one play offs.
4.5k sold already apparently.
Great move by Turnbull. Going to be a much bigger crowd there tonight because of it being a Friday.
Nothing on paper stands out as particularly exciting. But, it’s more competition for places which we desperately need.
Disappointed not to have a centre back in as despite a good few last games, Boyce/Taft have been poor.
Keeper and a striker are still a necessity

Shields – 1 goal in 8 in the lower leagues.
Not for me.He describes himself as a winger on his interview.
This club has a concerning fetish for midfielders.

I wasn’t Deerey my message was spend, spend, spend, I do know what your saying and yes the new manager and players might turn out to be total shite but I don’t give a flying f at least their giving it ago, and remember it’s not your money. Legitimate why you have legitimate questions?
It wasn’t our money last time but we almost lost our club.
I’m on the same wavelength as you Deerey, excited for the future but will be questioning decisions along the way.
In terms of the new signings, I’ve heard one from chesterfield, loan from Forest and the Peterborough sports lad.

Nice piece of marketing by the club here. Already probably paid a month of the player’s wages by thinking outside the box a little.

Hopefully not; Time to move on
Hilton’s been in charge for less than a week and already some are moaning. Nothing really changes.
You’ll Always get moaners and you’ll always get happy clappers.
Generally speaking, I’ve not seen the fanbase so energised for a long time as they were on Saturday. It felt like a totally different club and the ground was bouncing.
There’s a good interview with Bromley’s manager on YouTube which alludes to it and a few of their fans who were there said the crowd got us the point.
Now it’s not often you hear that about a Scunthorpe home game.

Simon, Ian and Roj had a meeting with Hilton on Saturday ant Hilton’s request.
That is encouraging to hear

Good to see but I really want him off Twitter. There’s no middle ground in that place and he’d be better off sticking with official lines of communication.

Makes a change to not be a former player.
This guy looks a proven winner, Can’t argue with his record
