Scunthorpe still has a football club
btw if he goes n the club folds would you shed a tear ???
Some on here wouldn’t batter an eyelid if the club went under. A select few ranks Hilton resigning as more a success than the alternative, Hilton resigning and nobody else coming in with money to buy the club and then ceasing to exist.
They clearly know the club could well and truly go out of business but clearly don’t care.
You honestly believe that?
You’ve perfectly encapsulated my views siderite- top post
Only bit of good news today.

There was only 1 point last year, just before the Elliot takeover was announced that I thought we were actually going to go bust. Always thought we’d carry on regardless and things would sort themselves out
I have that feeling today.
Feels like we are at a crossroads now.
A Jason Herbert Facebook post isn’t going to reassure many supporters who will now be worried.
A statement from the club offering clarity and strategy is needed.
Great post.
After commenting on the ref in here onSaturday and speaking to others- I wondered if I was being overly harsh on him, especially so close to after the game.
Having had time to reflect, I believe he was the worst referee I’ve ever seen officiate a game at GP. Completely and utterly out of his depth.

Anything could happen with the referee’s report and the Micky mouse authorities.
I’m not bitter about the result, we weren’t at the races. But how can you award Buxton the points with a minimum of 5 minutes still to play- more like 7/8 with stoppages.
Don’t worry. I’m usually confused these days.
Just think – yesterday I thought our game v Buxton had a referee in charge.
Just shows how crazy I can get. What was your rating of the ref yesterday, Les?
Morons, been doing it all season.
Only a matter of time before we get reprimanded.
Poor performance today; referee has took away the spotlight on what I thought was a sluggish, lacklustre display.
Teams will frequently come to GP and not want 4 putting past them like S’boro and co, we need to learn to find different ways of breaking them down. 2nd half it seemed to go sideways over to Ogle who proceeded to whip a ball on their big centre backs head. Fair play to Buxton; they defended brilliantly.
A let off for us it seems if the game is abandoned.
Can probably count on one hand the amount of times I’ve moaned about refs on here.
Utter bemusement all game with the officials today; they are up there with the worse I have ever witnessed. In fact, the whole standard of referee’s in this league is painfully poor, it’s like the standard falls off a cliff at this level and they are poor in the national league.
The ref today lost the game in the first 10 minutes, letting everything go which only encouraged Buxton’s thuggish players. A good ref would have nipped it in the bud by having a word with both captains early.
The challenge in the first half on Wilson was reckless, looked bad where we were. Their substitute raised his arm and elbowed evans right in the jaw- ref saw it and gave a yellow. If you’ve seen it it’s a straight red! Players just getting ragged about and the officials didn’t bother blowing. Made a rod for their own backs.
The ending was the cherry on the cake. His head had firmly left his shoulders by this point and he didn’t know what to do. Never seen supporters left in the stadium 5 minutes after the game not knowing what has gone on. Managers or players weren’t told either. Utter chaos.

But it’s the sixth division and with the players Hilton has allowed to come in I could have won motm
It’s one thing having money to spend,
Another thing actually buying decent players with it,
And then it’s another thing entirely getting them to play effective, attractive football together.
Give him some credit.

Deserved.

It will possibly be a tough game for Scunny, but after saying that, it will probably be a tougher one for South Sheilds. We need 3 points from this game, as we really lost 2 points on Saturday due to the ref and the red card, and with Connor Snith in the team, there should be more chances of scoring goals.
So my forcast is Scunny 3 South Sheilds 1.
Attendance of 3,488, which for a mid-week fixture in this league, is a cracking turn out, considering the fans had turned out in force for the game at Alfreton three days ago.
Wish I could have been there, but will watch it on my computer all being well.
Enjoy the game guys and lets hope for 3 points.
You need to start putting bets on. Correct score and 11 out with the crowd.
Superb in parts tonight; really should have put them to bed first half. Think the 2nd half there was a lot of tired legs out there after Saturday, the subs seemed to give us a boost and we were worthy of the 3-1 scoreline. Would definitely change it up on Saturday as the eventhough we are still early in the season, so many games in a short space of time could soon catch up with us.
Excellent result though tonight, we won’t play many better than S.shields this year

Strange signing but we are light up top and need that 3rd striker. He wasn’t as bad as people are making out; seemed to go off the boil when the rest of them did. It was the York game which hasn’t done him any favours.
Couple of goals and all will be forgiven
So much potential and we end up with one of worst draws possible.
Nice one fella. Really enjoyable day and hopefully we swelled the coffers for the club and local bar.
Jordy Thewlis looks a good player for you lot; skinned ogle a few times. He’s a Scunny lad.
Turned away for the red card- seen half say it was and half say it wasn’t?
Ref was atrocious again for us, don’t really tend to moan about the refs but there seems a massive drop in quality from the national league.
Happy to leave there with a point despite having a few chances 2nd half. Smith looked lively when he came on so can hopefully slot into Scale’s
Position. Overall, an entertaining game.Enjoyable awayday aswell with around 1,000 Iron fans there; never stopped singing. Plenty of old faces coming out the woodwork too, long may it continue.
700 sold ( not including juniors). Pay on the day; potentially close to a 1,000 there.
1-3 Iron
I can’t remember the last time we turned a profit; did we ever during the championship years?
No, never saw that! That stadium has been cursed since inception.
Portsmouth supporters- even with their substantial fan base- had to go cap in hand to Disney.
Agree with some of your points but not sure that’s an accurate representation – I think a more balanced view is that the Disney bloke (Eisner?) made an offer and the attraction of being a billionnaire’s plaything won out over the security & pride of fan ownership. A shame.
York have also recently sold out, in this case with the majority owners taking a 51% stake. 49% would have perhaps been the ideal option there for the club but not for the new majority owners.
I don’t know about Scarborough but I suspect Darlo are hamstrung by their stadium issues.
That’s probably more accurate with Pompey. Strangely, they haven’t made the any substantial progress despite the Eisner takeover. Modest adjustments to Fratton park and stagnated in a competitive league one for a number of years.
You’re correct about Darlo. Have a look at the Blackwell Meadows stadium, not fit for purpose and it’s hard to see how they progress as a club. It well could be we are in a similar situation in a years time unless things get sorted.
Would a community owned club have the resources to get back into the Football League?
Gazes enviously in the direction of Exeter City, AFC Wimbledon, Newport County, or indeed Motherwell & St Mirren.
Always advocated for supporters to have a stake in their football clubs, however the problem tends to be when they are fully owned, a glass ceiling is reached.
Newport are facing a deficit in their operational budget and lost £1.2m last year. Currently seeking investment.
Portsmouth supporters- even with their substantial fan base- had to go cap in hand to Disney.
Scarborough, and Darlington especially are struggling to escape, even this level.
Exeter have bucked the trend in recent years with their fantastic youth set up.
Maybe the answer lies abroad with German 51/49 model.
I think it will boil down to it being a community asset, Swann has reneged on stuff on the deal and/or there are other issues etc. As I initially said, hence why I said <em class=”d4pbbc-italic”>if he is found to lose. I don’t pretend to know the outcome.
It was suggested that the community asset caveat wouldn’t come into play unless Swann tried to sell to a third party who would use the land for other means .
And so he should like I said he is a reporter.
Who was he reporting for ? I’d be surprised if SET paid for a bus fare
In fairness he provided a good summary of the proceedings on Twitter.

Huge morning for the club.
Adjournment appears to be the best case scenario
Not sure. It came from Iron stats on Twitter, however he could only go as far back as 2011.
I would presume Stockport County

Good call on the attendance, Ironfromafar. I thought you’d overestimated by at least 600. A surprisingly good following from Scarborough but even so today shows the appetite and potential within the town.
Good following from the Seadogs and nearly 5k for the level is excellent.
The record for this level is 6.3k. It’s a tough ask but I wonder if can do it at some point.

Makes a change us performing in front of a decent crowd; Never got out of 2nd gear against a poor S’boro side.
Once again we played some nice stuff with Fin and Cam taking their goals well. When we move the ball quickly I can’t see anyone coping with us in this league; there is a huge dip in quality from opposition sides. Pleasing to see Elliot off the mark- no way he’s claiming that 4th though!
Jimmy desperately needed a good start and he’s delivered. Onwards to one of the closest away games of the season at Alfreton.
