Agreed Ferrite Howard wasn’t all that, but he did average 1.27 points per game for us, Rory averaged .5 last season and .58 this season if we carry on with that average we will only amass 27 points, his best average was 1 point per game in 5 games which is still not deemed enough to stay up, Sorry but Rory just isn’t good enough.
Awaywego—Howard was also a poor goalkeeper that never left the goal line for any crossed ballsand resulted in a few goals, but even so he signed for Carlisle last week and played for them on saturday.
But to say that Watson is poor and costing the team goals this season is way off the mark, the whole team are very very poor, and would not win games even if they had two goalkeepers between the posts during matches, the team are poor, the management are very poor and entertainment is even worse.

What the F thought it was the men’s FA cup draw what’s 2 women doing on? Nice to see Alan Devonshire wants to play us, bet most teams want us in the draw, good chance Friday live game if we get a non leaguer.
Awaywego—-we shall get plenty of non league teams next year, but in the league and not the FA Cup.
Donny are a good draw for Scunny and a chance of a 5,000 gate (2,250 from Donny and 2,750 from Scunny), the trouble is we have to share it with Donny and the FA, so there will not be a lot left, but it doesn’t really matter who we had drawn, we never get past the first round, although Donny are playing some crap football and can be beaten.
I don’t think that locking the gates was much good, simply because those wanting to spoil their Saturday afternoon just went through the retail road.
Alkazar—-when you say Martians landed on the pitch during the second half, why the hell didn’t management slip some claret and blue shirts on them, better still resign and put them in charge of things.
Weren’t Stevenage in a similar position at this point last year, and they still escaped, so there is still reason to be optimistic, just.
Vasar—-you are correct in what you say pal, but Stevenage are not being managed by an inexperienced assistant non-league manager, aided by Lillis and Mussa, and they must have some assemblance of a squad, not a bunch of no hopers like ours, with ome win in the last 25 matches and ONE POINT FROM THEIR LAST SEVEN LEAGUE GAMES, THERE IS NO HOPE WHAT SO EVER WITHOUT CHANGES IN THE PIPE LINE.
Home game, league leaders, trained well, 5 at the back, we know what they’ll do, (we won’t be able to stop them though) keep it tight, hope for a lucky penalty. Well it worked once. We live in hope – it’s all we’ve got!
I am sorry to say, but we have the same squad as last week, playing under the same management and their system, so what has changed in order for any difference, we will not and do not play bad enough to ship 6 goals so soon as last weeks match, possibly 0-2 or maybe only 0-1.
I hope Cox starts with young Wilson but it will probably be the same failures being selected, either way a win would be nice, but with this squad and Cox, Lillis and Mussa in charge, this is very unlikely. Where is UTI99, not heard from the little rascal since the 1-6 of last Saturday bless him.

But what if he doesn’t put his hand in his pocket? what if he said “No more enough is enough” where do we go then?
Either Brigg Town or Bottesford, probably better day out for you, and the football must at least be more exciting and a few shots on goal will be something new to us!!

Indeed. As I said earlier, he’s playing for time.
Keep stalling until the January transfer window when he can shuffle the pack to make it look like something is being done.
Could have had a career in politics. Especially under the present shower!
Although after saying that Northy, he could have been PM for the Lefties ha ha.
It is nice to read MrSwanns view of the way he has done things wrong, and suggestds that he will change things for the better.
Then I look back and se how many of us backed him during his first five years in charge of the club, but sadly nothing that MrSwann said ever came to happen, so why should we beleive this statement????, I think that he can see that things are going to get worse financialy (not on the field, becase this is not possible). Sorry Peter, but I supported you for six years, before coming to the conclusion that it was all a smoke screen.

One last thing, when you have thrown enough fuel on the fire you will be even more gutted when you realise you’ve helped contribute to the destruction of the club without a plan b in sight.
UTI99—–Before you go my friend, just tell me what supporters can possibly do to change the direction that the club has headed for the past three years???
Swann is telling us that we should still be attending in droves, but there is nothing on offer to pull people through the gates, I will not go once again into explaining what fans need to watch.
By using Swanns and your view that fans should be fighting to enter GP and putting more money into the club after the management has blown £12 million of Swanns, plus the £8 million he has put in in shares and the £1 million he got from the Football League, thats£21 million on top of all gate and other money that has come into the club coffers.
Anyway UTI99, you can now admit to us that you really are Peters son, but who will now be in charge of recruitment, maybe Cox could take that job on, because he hasn’t a bloody clue as manager, maybe daddy could make you manager, with all your positive outlooks of the club.

Well that statement takes us back to the first five years of Mr Swanns ownership of SUFC, he is now saying that the club actually need supporters whereas he has ignored this during the past three years at a time when what has been presented on the pitch is not whatchable, and to want fans to turn out and receive their weekly punishment of 90 mins at GP is a none starter (80 mins in my case).
After attending when ever possible since 1951 on joining the football league, I would never have thought it possible for myself to say “I am no longer going to attend”, I appreciate that you have heard it many times from me, but supporting SUFC in the present days just ruins your weekend, and there is nothing to look forward to the following weekend simply because with Cox in charge, and the substandard squad he has assembled, THEY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE IN lEAGUE 2.
So the truth is Mr Swann, gates are not going to improve, and with winter nearing, I can see gates being 1,500 plus any away fans, it’s simple fans need a little bit of entertainment at games, they do not want to see their team set up defensivly, they do not want to see their team have one shot on target during 90 mins, they do not wish to see their team with one up front and 5-4 in defence, and finally Scunny fans do not want to see their team win ONE GAME OUT OF THE LAST TWENTY FOUR MATCHES. So you have had your say in your statement Mr Swann, and now I have had my say as a supporter of the club for 71 years, the answer to the clubs problems cannot be changed by myself or any other supporter, but only yourself can change things by acting now, if it means getting rid of the very nice local coaching staff, or recruiting UTI99 onto your board for his advice, then do it, because lost supporters are not going to return to watch the PRESENT rubbish that is being served up now at GP.10 users thanked author for this post.
Neil is too nice a man to be considered for the sack, I would also think that Lillis and Mussa are a laugh a minute type of guys, but the problem is that they have not got a bloody clue between them as our club sprint into non league football.
And there is a reason why they remain in charge, no “charge” is the wrong word, it should have read in these management positions, I have had the feeling that our club is being driven at full speed into liquidation, and the only reason I can deduct that is because the newly obtained land package will be worth a lot of money if it is approved for building a housing site.
Very sad, but as a sacking manager boss, Swann is sticking with this bloody shower after winning ONE MATCH IN THE PAST 24 GAMES THESE CLOWNS HAVE SUPPOSEDLY BEEN INCHARGE OF, and he even speakes well of the guy, why supporters keep turning up is beyond me, if I can pack up after 71 long years supporting them, why are fans still encouraging Swann and his business in turning our club into extinction.
Gate money from 2,000 remaining fans will not keep the club in operation, but with these fans still turning out, it acts as a smoke screen over what Swann is actually doing, and things will just continue along the present lines until we change places with Grimsby at the end of the season.
1 user thanked author for this post.
Yeah Swann put the club up for sale, don’t cover any losses because fans are fickle as…. and don’t bother trying to bring any players in in January to help our cause.
If this goes on for a few years while a suitable buyer is found so be it.
Sounds brilliant doesn’t it.
Do us all a favour UTI69 and go and fuck yourself you childish twat!!!!
1 user thanked author for this post.
You do realise our budget will still be the same no matter who the owner is?
UTI99—-I am not interested in fecking budgets, I am just interested in what is best for our club, when I say “our”, it means the club of about 5,000 followers and lovers. All that we wany to do is, turn up on match days and watch some enjoyable football, we are not interested in winning every week, but we are fed up to the back teeth of watching football played under the present manager and coaches, ie playing defensive football all the time, playing one up front in home matches even against other poor teams, we do not like watcching our team playing with only half the team putting any effort into their game, and we certainly do not want to see our team bottom of League 2, with no signs of any changes to alter things, and like today with our first and only shot on target being our goal. Our past seven matches have been six losses and a draw, in those seven games we have scored FOUR GOALS and conseeded TWENTY TWO GOALS (13 IN OUR LAST THREE MATCHES).
So don’t quote bloody budgets to me, Accrington are on a less budget than us, and are half way up League 1, and have lived on 2,000 gates for years, you make people sick UTI99 sticking up for our management and blame the fans for the club plight.
Half time in the England match so where do we start:-
WATSON—7—MOM, but in a team like this???, no fault with him.
MILLEN—4—Not very good and plenty of input by their winger.
THOMPSON–4—Silly sending off, but had played ok.
TAFT—4—He has gone down hill since arriving at Scunny.
WOOD—3—Not impressed by his performances.
DAVIES—4—A good goal, but defence wise not good.
HIPPOLYTE–2—He is in the wrong trade, too much trouble to work.
BEESTIN—3—Has not been outstanding so far this season.
GREEN—2—Gets worse each time I see him if this is possible.
SCRIMSHAW—2—Never a threat up front, pathetic really.
LOFT—2—Waste of space, defenders must rub their hands.COX—3—His days must be numbered, even though it is up to Swann, Cox has been in charge for about 64 matches at Scunthorpe, and we have finished up with performances like today, and Cox is a nice guy, but nice guys still get sacked if they cannot do their job. His lack lustre interviews are repetertive and he is out of his depth, players are not even putting in any effort for him, and Cox, Lillis and Mussa should be called in on Monday morning and sacked, it is the only chance the club has of staying in the league, and it is still a slim chance.
I have never ever felt so low as a Scunny fan in my 71 years of supporting my club, and Swann has put us in this position with his bright ideas and throwing the clubs money away, but his ownership of the clubs ground, car park and training pitch land will be a good reward for his efforts, but the club are bankrupt, thanks Swanny!!!!

October 6, 2021 at 9:58 pm in reply to: Harrogate away, time to show our fury as supporters? #214960Does any of the above actually help the team on the pitch???
Does it improve their chances of winning???
Will it make them play better???
Anyone advocating creating a negative atmosphere for the players is a disgrace and gets what they deserve if the TEAM get relegated!
UTI99——It is the team that has got us in this position, and not the supporters, only what the team does under the management clowns can improve happenings, the fans are in the stands and not on the pitch.
It just shows the depth our club has sunk to when fans are praising the team for its improvement after getting beat by Rotherham 1-4, and just one win to show from its last 23 matches, probably Cox should have his contract reviewed and extended by a couple of more years.
So we need another 12 or 13 wins out of our remaining thirty odd matches in order not to sink into non-league football, where the hell are they going to come from????????????????????????.
Get real lads we lost 4-1, I assume fans would have been doing hand springs along Brownsword Way if we had managed a draw, so can we possibly expect 1,500 more supporters at our next home game after last nights great result????

October 4, 2021 at 11:40 pm in reply to: Harrogate away, time to show our fury as supporters? #214823Any protest against the current regime should be done at home, with a sit down protest on the pitch. Get everyone on board, men women and children. Don’t call out the manager or his (our) players, this is all about the oppression of our club by the Swann family.
UTBI
Lord—-are you suggesting that it is the sole fault of the Swann family??, you must be a bloody clown if you are thinking that the manager and his brainstrust coaching staff of Lilis and Mussa have no part in the demiss of our club, they have been at the helm for the past 60 matches, and teams are selected by them, and defensive rubbish formation set up is also in their hands, they are bloody clueless.

October 4, 2021 at 11:28 pm in reply to: Harrogate away, time to show our fury as supporters? #214822But I am not bothered whether Swann is here or not WG, and he won’t be there anyway if you want to get Swanns attention I would suggest something different to singing, a pitch invasion might be on the cards though if things go tits up,a lot will be heavy in drink so nothing will surprise me, will I protest? Well not in the beginning I will get behind the team and see how it pans out, if I am to protest it will be against our inbred management team, said all along he should be given 2 years but even he is trying my patience now. Ps Ironawe what about throwing paper airplanes like they used to at England games would that get your approval?.
FORGET THIS FUCKING THROWING LARK awaywego, or is that your suggestion soas to take the blame off Swann and put blame onto supporters, no body is going to gain anything by object throwing, or any encroachmentof the playing area.
WonderGoals——I must point out that you are a bit out when you say that Swann has reclessly run up a debt of 12 million, actually it should be the 12 million he says that he has put into the club to keep it running, plus the 8 million he says he invested in club shares, and then the 1 million he borrowed from the football league, so in my eyes this totals 21 million that has been reclessly used up, and with him saying that he is still putting money into the club, there doesn’t appear to be any money left.
What a terrible piece of business when the club have wasted 21 million, over the eight years, plus all gate money, plus football league payments, and other income from food, car parking, transfers etc. and presently we have a shambles of a team and management, playing boring defensive rubbish on match days, but why have so many loyal supporters stopped attending games????????????
Oldham have the same number of points as us. Walsall and Mansfield two more, and Bristol Rovers, Carlisle and Colchester three more.
In theory all six are catchable. So really the points tally isn’t that important as long as we are better than at least two of them.
Which, admittedly looks as unlikely as matching last year’s points total.
Northumbiron—-Whilst making reference to these other six very poor teams, please take into consideration that they do not have a coaching team of Cox, Lillis and Mussa standing on their touch line, and that they are very poor this season, and have a chance of some kind of recovery, where as we have been pathetic for three seasons and are seen to be getting worse week by week. The other thing is that Scunthorpe has been hit by a virus called Covid, and Scunthorpes players get injured where these two problems do not effect these other six teams if you listen to Swanns reasons for us being bottom of the league.
And he expects supporters to be turning up on match days in droves, what a bloody team of cluless management has been assembled all at one club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, mind after saying that, the team can also be classed in this groupe.
Wondergoals——I didn’t suggest that you thought that Hippo was a world beater, although if you have attended games this season, you have every right to have a better view of things than myself, simply because I just cannot be arsed to go and watch such boring shite, all I can go by are either i-follower viewing or Humberside radio.
But after just watching the Swann pod-cast, what little bit of paith I had in things getting better has been shattered by Swanns back that clown Cox, no matter how nice a man he is, he simply is never going to make a football league manager. But Swann has different views it appears.
Well guys there we have it, I have never seen it on the TV News that Scunthorpe is the only place that has had this Covid virus, but Swann keeps laying the blame on it as if we are the only place effected by it. It is the same with injuries, does he think that other teams don’t get players injured??
He said that he doesn’t think it is the standard of football rgat is keeping fans away!!!!!, he says that win , lose or draw supporters still follow their teams, but he has forgotten, the WIN portion of this is missing at GP, plus entertainment is zero.
He says that we are only 10 games in, in fact we are 56 games in because we had a full season of the same rubbish last season, and sadly there is no signs of things getting better, but he appears happy to let it go on and on and it is Neil this and Neil that, does Swann not just stop and think that this coaching team have been in charge for these 56 matches??????
This would have been ok and acceptable if we had not heard the same for 8 years, without even one thing coming to fore, if Swann thinks things are fine and the club will survive being run like this, then as a long term supporter of 71 years, I will tell him that there is no point in fans turning up just to say that they are sticking by the club, but being truthful are in fact paying to be bored to bloody tears, I would think that if things stay as they are now, he would be pleased with 2,500 supporters in Jan and Feb, because things must surely be running very thin with even more fans.
Just get Cox and his fellow clowns out of our once loved club, we are not happy to see the club in the state it has been for the past three years, we are angry and sad.
Hippolyte is one of the worst players ever to have put on a Scunny shirt, I really rated your views on things mate, but to suggest that Hippo will ever make a footballer is taking it a bit too far.
Young Wilson and Pugh should both be in the team, but they cannot even make the bench with Cox and his brains trust in charge, no it is wrong to say “in charge” because they are in charge of nothing, they do not have a bloody clue. O’Malley has really gone down hill, and all danger of Newports came from him being skinned time after time.

No words BS, no words.
Why no words my friend, this is a first and I worry, surely you are not putting Swann up in your house whilst he is in hiding !!!
1 user thanked author for this post.
But when you have such a poor squad of players with no quality or even basic skills what so ever, added to a clueless team of management as Cox, Lillis and Mussa, plus an owner that hasn’t even got the interest to even attend, what are the chances of things taking any shape.
I feel for the 4 to 5 thousand fans that have supported and the 2,300 that still remain followers of our team and still follow them all over the country. I am 80 years of age, and my following days are over, but I feel for the guys that should have many more happy years as a fan of SUFC in the football league, they are the one’s that do not deserve to be the victims of Swanns errors and selfish failed plans. It is a wonder that he can sleep at night if he just looks back to what halm he has done to our club.

What a breath of fresh air it was to listen to Paul Hurst on Humberside who is in control of Grimsby and a following of 6,000 fans, before then to listening to Cox not knowing what to do regarding our lifeless lot. Grimsby are riding back into the football league with their new owners whilst we are heading into non-league with our owner in hiding after leaving Cox and his clowns in charge of things at GP, with our gates heading for the below 2,000 levels.
There is a vast difference between the Cox in a rowing boat, and the cox we have at Scunthorpe United. One has control of his crewe whilst the other has none.
Why would Cox walk and make himself jobless with no income, if he waits for the sack he will most likely get a handsome payoff, although as I alluded to earlier his job is probably safe as it will cost the club money it doesn’t have to fire him, and it seems outside funding has been pulled.
Vadar—–As I see things, who is there at the club that can take any action and fire Cox and party, Swann has gone into hiding, and it probably suits Swann to keep Cox on in order to speed up the club folding (his land will be more valuable if the club no longer exists), and the process of having Cox as manager will surely speed up liquidation by bringing down support week by week.
Where is UTI99 to support our club owner, and all that he has done for (or to) our once loved little club, thinking he will either be on the club bus being a member of staff or one of the 98 that went down to sit bored to bloody death watching our attacking team (first shot on target was in the 87th min).
1 user thanked author for this post.
Everything you touch seems to be turning to ashes.
Very tactful! I’m sure there’s a better word than ashes though!
Bartonscorpion, if Cox is the “nice bloke” everyone says he is and loves the club and the town, then he’ll do the decent thing and walk, which will cost nothing.
Btw I ignored your 1-0 prediction and went for 3-0. So that’s 12 points for me, which would have been 24 if the joker button had been working!
Yes Northumbiron, 12 points to you mate and 7 points to myself, but you need a lot of 12 points to get anywhere near my record pal, never finishing out of the top four in the six years ha ha!.
I know what you mean regards Cox walking, but after listening to him after the game, he said the players should have as much passion has he has himself, which suggesys that he think its the players and not him to blame. But just think, his record of ONE WIN IN 21 MATCHES, as you say anyone would resign, but where else would he get a job after his dire record and shite football he sets the team to play, after saying that, Lillis and Mussa are just as bad as Cox is, they are a trio of clowns (there is an idea they could all join Billey Smarts Circus, so there is a job they could do.Shocking, even the commentary said we packed in at HT, just what goes on in the dressing room at HT.
Cox is clearly out of his depth, there’s no scope to change players so surely there has to be a management change although this will cost money.
Vadar—-It will cost money, but it would be the best money spent for three years, the cost could possibly be paid for by Swann buying Brownsword Way, that is probably the only land that the club still ownes.
The team and management are a complete shambles, and Swann is still the Chairman and owner, and must come out of hiding and face up to the supporters, his first job must be to sack Cox and his fellow clowns (even if he is a very nice man), that is his only remaining defence.
I am no longer a member of the Prediction League, but have a very good record and predict
Newport 1 Scunny 0, the team will hold their own for the first hour, then pack the defence with the keeper and nine others, which will result in Newport taking full control till the end.Theywill run out of energy as usual, but will take 0-1 defeat as being a good result, even though it will take their brilliant record to just ONE WIN IN THE LAST TWENTY MATCHES.
Cox cannot understand why we lost as he monitored very good training sessions during the week, we will now sit holding the other 23 teams up, but the manager and his brains trust team of coaches will still be in charge on Monday, they must hold one record as keeping their jobs even though their team have the worst record of a management of any league team to keep their job, but Cox still retains the fans respect for being a nice man ha ha!
