That’s what a travelling Iron has just text me. Never a truer word spoken. So so sad.
October 2, 2021 at 5:17 pm #214555You bring in a conman you get conned. Harsh lesson to learn and the only losers of course, the fans.

Staggering around like zombies!
October 2, 2021 at 5:28 pm #214560We weren’t terrible but, yet again, incredibly ordinary.
October 2, 2021 at 6:04 pm #214564This last three and a bit seasons have been a disaster, if Peter Swann wants to go it might be better if he went because I know us fans are fed up with watching this dull football every week and the only entertainment is from the opposition, it’s not as though we are getting points by playing it.
Just over three years ago we had been in the playoffs twice with a near miss on the last day, since then we have had poor squads and now we are cannon fodder in league 2 with very little fight.
We either need a manager to make us into the exciting attacking side we were promised, or the Chairman needs to renew his season ticket, come to games to see how bad we are, technically the players we have should be OK but on match day they don’t deliver.

October 2, 2021 at 6:12 pm #214567We will be cut adrift by Halloween and there’s no way- even with a new gaffer- we will get out of it. Squad is a complete shambles and they resemble nothing of a league 2 team. Changing formations and bringing in different players is like rearranging the deck chairs in the titanic.

October 2, 2021 at 6:20 pm #214568The Prawn won’t come back to watch, he knows the position he has put the club in, he’s just sat back waiting for the inevitable and possibly rubbing his hands thinking about future development plans so his other companies can help pay off some of the huge debt his mishandling of club finances caused to SUFC. Disgraceful behaviour.

October 2, 2021 at 6:21 pm #214569With all the planed property developments is he going to put it up for sale? I know he’s said no one is interested in buying but would actually putting up for sale make a difference? I don’t know. Just asking.

October 2, 2021 at 8:44 pm #214596What a breath of fresh air it was to listen to Paul Hurst on Humberside who is in control of Grimsby and a following of 6,000 fans, before then to listening to Cox not knowing what to do regarding our lifeless lot. Grimsby are riding back into the football league with their new owners whilst we are heading into non-league with our owner in hiding after leaving Cox and his clowns in charge of things at GP, with our gates heading for the below 2,000 levels.
There is a vast difference between the Cox in a rowing boat, and the cox we have at Scunthorpe United. One has control of his crewe whilst the other has none.
October 2, 2021 at 9:00 pm #214598In my opinion Cox sounded a beaten man on the radio, he sounds like he’s no idea what to do next.
It was a big mistake letting Hurst go.2 users thanked author for this post.
October 2, 2021 at 9:45 pm #214600Cox hasn’t had any idea now for months. It become apparent a month into the season that he had no idea what he was doing.
Cox said post match ” I was telling them to pass through midfield to create chances but they “the players” just kept hitting it long.
He’s the manager for crying out loud, if he’s telling them to do something and they aren’t doing it, surely that’s down to him as a manager not having the man management skills to be able to get his point across.
Cox can’t use the excuse that he was a squad full of trouble makers because it’s near enough a new squad.
I wonder whether that’s why players were taking the piss last season because they were bored and frustrated about Cox’s lack of leadership and probably inability at man managing the players properly.
It does make you wonder because it’s the same as last season but with a whole new squad. This can’t possibly be another squad of players fault….this will be down to Cox and Lillis.
Experienced manager in and get rid of Lillis too.
Regarding Hurst’s departure, Swann moved the goalposts in terms of players coming in, he spoke up to Swann and was sacked. Hurst at the time was getting a song out of Gillead, Eisa and McAtee at the time.
October 4, 2021 at 9:25 am #214695We weren’t terrible but, yet again, incredibly ordinary.
I completely disagree, ordinary would involve a modicum of attacking flair, some defensive shape, a midfield which makes life hard for the opposition. We were a cardboard cutout of a team, a vague tribute act to a once-great band.
October 4, 2021 at 1:46 pm #214746Mick just over three years ago you and many others were advocating getting rid of Alexander, others at the time said be careful what you wish for, you got your wish.
October 4, 2021 at 1:52 pm #214747Alexander was then sacked by Fleetwood, wasn’t he ?. Swann kept signing these managers…he’s to blame.
I see he’s on sports talk tonight from 6pm. Fans needs to ring up and let him know just what he’s doing to the club because he’s either playing dumb or he’s in denial, either way we need to hammer it home.
Ring in and just let him know what he’s doing.
October 4, 2021 at 2:24 pm #214751Sorry to disappoint WG but Alexander went to Salford and achieved promotion and a Wembley final in the Micky mouse trophy, of course Swann is to blame, he did everyone’s bidding and got rid of 3 good managers,Alexander, bobbins and Hurst, as well as the other crap.

October 4, 2021 at 3:05 pm #214756A good chairman isn’t one who does the fans bidding its one who runs the club responsibly and hopefully in time can push the club forward. After Steve Wharton, Swann came in and stated the club would be run more professionally, well several years later, several stated failed ambitions later, one ground grab due to a self inflicted 11 million quid deficit later, we are where we are. In shit street, thanks Mr Chairman

Well we should agree on this Awaywego as we are both long term Iron fans who only want what’s right for our club but unless you have another name for shit, I honestly believe that’s where we are under this current Chairman. Would you rather Steve Wharton was still in charge, if his health would allow? I believe the majority on here who compare our debt and league record under him and our previous ownership of our own ground compared to now would agree we would be better off. No brainer really.
