But the missing piece is at CB ours don’t jump or challenge !
Rumoured we’re after one Sanfran. SSN even said 2 more are due in besides Feeney and Nuttall who hasn’t signed yet.
From what I’ve read one is an experienced defensive midfielder in place of Kenyon and the other is an experienced CB as Davis’s replacement. I hope we move Jarvis or KDT on and get another striker though because we definitely need another one.
Going by this maybe Wheater isn’t such a far fetched suggestion after all.
Wheater told The Buff Podcast that he has spoken with Darlington manager Alun Armstrong about a potential deal but is first dealing with a disc problem in his back which has been present since 2014, in his playing days at Wanderers.
“I have always been offered the operation but said I didn’t want to have the time off,” he said. “It is only three or four months so if I can get it done now I’ll be right for January.
That was from an interview he gave on 14th September last year.
Wood is an odd one. I thought he played really well in his debut but then he put on a shaky performance, as did most other people and he got frozen out.
I wanted him gone but glad nobody at the club listened as he’s definitely got something about him. Wood’s pretty scrappy, energetic, fairly physical and has a more than a decent enough range of passing.
I know Pugh covers the hard yards and gets his tackles in but I think Wood’s better. If we sign Grant or another experienced DCM with Feeney in there there’s plenty of experience now, I’d be tempted for Wood to get a shot as part of a 3 man midfield.
I like Pugh’s work rate and tenacity but his shooting is woeful and technically he’s not great either.
As mentioned above Wood had more effect than what Hackney does. Hackney does good bits and pieces in matches but that’s all they are, bits and pieces. I hope he keeps his place now because there’s promise there.
Least Hill is getting in the experience we need, even if it is late in the day. Experienced CB, Grant, Feeney with Nuttall upfront would be a much stronger spine. Sinclair looks a pretty clever player as well.
I think we’ve got a player in Burns and upfront with Nuttall you would have thought we’d be a lot more potent.
As mentioned above though, problem will be getting them to gel and get them up to speed straight away.
Least now we’re doing something…hardly ideal but least they’re coming in. If we could send Hackney back and get a replacement in and somehow get rid of KDT and get another experienced striker in, considering where we are, we wouldn’t have done half bad.

I would say so.

Millen, Davis and Kenyon are supposed to be on their way. According to twitter we’re in for Anthony Grant as a replacement for Kenyon.
Not sure about Millen but rumour is he’s on his way and now we’ve got that Young lad from Wolves Hill probably doesn’t feel we need Millen. Hill is also looking at an experienced CB replacement for Davis.
Also rumoured we’re sending Hackney back due to the ban and getting another loan CM player to cover for him, which would make sense as he’s out for another 5 games and when he’s back he won’t be match fit.
If Grant does sign along with an experienced able bodied CB with Nuttall…that’s not half bad.
Grant, Feeney, whoever the experienced CB is will be much needed experience. I still think we need another striker though to go with Nuttall “if he signs” and Burns.
I wish Swann would pay KDT’s contract up and we could move him on and get Andrew in his place, as all he’s doing is cluttering up the place and taking up a space on the quota.
Someone argued Perry should go a month or two ago and I defended the lad.
Recent form looks like the after effects of Covid as a possibility, I suspect.Perry is a talented player but he’s also a luxury player. I think he has quality, technically he’s good and passing range is very good.
I suspect he’d be top drawer in a really good side doing well who would be able to accommodate him, who would let him do what he’s good at but he’s no good in a team in the situation we’re in.
Defensively he’s absolute crap, work rate isn’t the best and he’s fairly lightweight. Perry as an attacking midfielder with solid players around him then yes but not for us at this time.
I just don’t see it. I did moan he wasn’t involved but I can see why now. On that showing I’d prefer Wood as he appears to be more well rounded.
No way in a million years we could accommodate players like Perry at this time. I’m in no way wanting us to go the clogger route but we have to field players who are more solid than him at this moment in time.

Young Lewis isn’t even a natural LB, he’d be more comfortable as an attacking LWB but he’s actually a Left winger. I thought he did well considering the circumstances.
Burns will score more as well given he actually has an able bodied striker partner. I like him personally, loads of energy and his movement is really clever it’s just at times nobody spots him to pass the ball to him.
We need a mobile defensive midfielder in ASAP, Rowe does his best but positionally he’s all over the place. Hippolyte has gone back to the old Hippolyte, Perry shouldn’t play again as he lacks the desire needed in a dog fight and with Beestin you can tell he’s nowhere near match fit, plus he was slack.
Taft, don’t even get me started on him..absolute dog turd.

Where did you hear they’d signed ?
According to twitter Kenyon, Davis and Millen are all on their way out. I can understand why we signed that young lad from Wolves now, who I may add looks better but still can’t pass.
30 odd games for Mansfield is better than 20 odd games for Hemel Hemstead or German 4th tier, it’s a start.
People need to start realising where we are in the league and how much we’re paying. If we sign Nuttall, another striker and a commanding CM player, Hill would have done bloody well.
If possible now we’ve signed Sinclair, I’d let go of Hallam and see if we can shift KDT and get an experienced solid CB if at all possible.
Still working on Nuttall. I still think we need a midfield general to hold it together and possibly another striker to go with Nuttall “providing we get him” and Burns. Jarvis doesn’t add much and is injured anyway.
KDT is a no mark and Jessop isn’t ready. I would rather we signed a solid CB instead of the RB from Wolves but never mind he’s here now.
I wouldn’t mind a battering ram here for the other option, Calvin Andrew on a free would do. Andrew, Nuttall and Burns would be ok you would have thought.
Nuttall and Burns would be alright, only problem is if either of those two got injured we’re pretty much back to square one again a we’ve no depth up there.

He is if he’s fit which Millen doesn’t seem to be.
You know what I meant Mr Pedantic. To be a potential upgrade on Millen I was typing as if Millen was fit, kind of a gimme the wolves kid is an upgrade as he’s able to at least run around.
I’ll give me a few more games to get his fitness up. I just hope he improves.
As with any player, sincerely wish the lad the best of luck here.
However, he’s not a player with a track record that suggests he’s going to help get us out of the mire.
Really ?. He has plenty of games under his belt so has experience, not scored that many goals but got a run at the end of last season and scored a few.
Least he’s not come here as a rookie. I suppose that’s a step forward at least !

All in favour of that, I was just surprised/disappointed how out of his depth he looked on Saturday
That’s what I was basing my view on, maybe I was bit harsh though due to him not playing much football but he looked miles off it.
I’m unsure whether he’s an upgrade on Millen.

This Tyreese Sinclair comes highly rated, supposed to be more of an attacking central midfielder who can also play as a second striker.
I do hope we sign an experienced CM player now to underpin the midfield, especially as Kenyon is doing his best impression of lord lucan.

I know we’re not able to answer those questions regarding Beestin but it just annoys me that where we are as a club that much worse players are being favoured ahead of him.
Pisses me right off !
The lack of communication is winding me up as well, where the hell is Kenyon ?
1 user thanked author for this post.
Well Hallam came on yesterday with no Beestin getting a look in and Perry played ahead of Beestin, despite not playing a 1st team match in 6 weeks so no way he could have been fit.
Would Perry have been more match fit than Beestin ?
I find it odd how he’s our best CM player who happens to be the only one who’s capable of breaking forward to help the forward players out and doesn’t even get any minutes.
You surely would have thought where we are as a club that he’d be one of the 1st names on the teamsheet which leads me to think that either something has happened behind the scenes or another club is maybe interested in him and Swann wants to cash in.
What other reason would there be ?
If perry can start with not having action for 6 weeks, how can he be deemed match fit enough to not only get minutes but start and yet Beestin somehow isn’t deemed fit enough ?
If Beestin was so unfit he wouldn’t be on the bench would he ?
I find it all a bit odd.

Looks like Beestin is being frozen out. I don’t know what’s gone on behind the scenes but it appears Hill doesn’t like him.
Beestin seems to be well down the pecking order.
1 user thanked author for this post.
Beestin needs to play. Kenyon has turned into the disappearing man and if playing a no 10, Hallam has to play over Perry who was absolutely shocking.
Kenyon and Beestin you’d have to say are our 2 best CM players and yet aren’t given minutes. The new RB from Wolves is poor from what he’s shown so far.
Burns you can tell is pretty clever in his movement but players either taken too long to spot him or simply don’t see him at all, a fair few times he’s been in space wide open to pass to but the ball never comes to him.
1 user thanked author for this post.
Not read favourable things about Nuttall but he’s supposed to be quick, mobile and is a fair size…all we need him to do is kick the ball accurately at goal, if he manages just that he’ll be better than Jarvis.
All we need now is another CB, another striker besides Nuttall and 2 CM players.
Off you pop Hill, do the impossible !

Beeston bench warming
I’ve said before that if Beestin is fit enough for the bench then he should be starting. I don’t think Hill is keen on him, I don’t think he runs around enough for Keith.
Only thing is that Hill needs to understand is the fact Beestin is arguably our best CM and is the only one capable of breaking forward to help whoever it is upfront. Also can finish as we’ve seen before.
Hill appears to be prioritising running ability above all else…which worries me slightly.

That young lad from Wolves looks pretty poor, I’d rather we had Millen there. Has this lad really improved on Millen ?

“I would step away if that external investment was forthcoming for the football club (including the stadium and land), but it isn’t as yet.”
Just like he said we wouldn’t sell Loft without a ready made replacement ?
Swann also said he would pay the loan off is needed, got it put to him and he denies it and says he said it was just an option.
Why wouldn’t we all believe old Swannster ?
I find it hard to believe he’d sign the clubs assets over to us and not require rent money for it. Sorry but I just can’t see it.

I feel for Hill who is arguably the best manager since Adkins left the building.
Not so sure now. If Beestin isn’t a long covid sufferer and he can’t get on the pitch in the place of the shower that are currently playing, then Hill needs a kick up the arse end.
I’ve been wanting Perry to play but after today’s evidence I rather he fucked off because that was ridiculous. I’d rather Hallam played in that role. If that was Perry’s best personal effort to keep the club up, he needs to move on and we need a better player in.
Make matters even worse, Bunn is out with what looks like a long term injury according to Hill post match.
What people are not mentioning is, is that if SwAnn did get additional funding and stepped back we would then own ground rent to him/his company coolsilk as they own the ground…we would have to pay rent to the arse hole.
I read that Walsall’s chairman did the same thing to them and now they’re having to pay 300/400k in rent to him as he owns their ground, training facilities.
Utter piss take.
I bet Swannster won’t sign the ground and land over before he does one. Swann will be laughing his arse off, he’ll be doing the noble thing in his own head and stepping away and yet coaling rent money in.
Winds me up how he says he won’t put the club in danger and yet we’re 12+ million in debt, bit too late for that. Now we need him to do something he’s playing that card, pity he didn’t take a more measured approach to start with, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

I remember him, he was good going forward but couldn’t defend for toffee. Imagine Millen been a little less assured defensively and you have Howe.
Barton, the lack of transfer action for the Iron has sent you mad. All we need now is 1 more teenage signing in the final throwing of the transfer window and you’ll be done for.
If we sign anybody over the age of 20yr old on deadline day I’ll faint.
I’m being serious what I’m about to say here….if Keith somehow pulls 4 experienced solid signings out right at the death of this transfer window, he needs honouring from the Queen.
Hill would make David Blaine look small fry.

. by that i mean 3 plus new faces including a decent striker
I think we need 2 good-ish strikers in as one won’t cut it. Need a CB and a progressive CM player. That’s the bare minimum because even then you could argue we need a RB and a mobile DCM player as Rowe is preferred over Kenyon so that can’t say much for Kenyon and he’s injury prone himself.
We have nothing at all upfront besides Burns and he’s never even played league football before coming here.
Alex Hunt, after staring for the cod’s for 6 months has gone to bolster Oldham’s midfield. Could’ve done a job for us
Most could do a job for us but Swannster won’t spend any of his own money and therefore we’re only spending what we generate.
Clearly can’t be bothered and we’ll go through all the scraps nobody else wanted come the end of the window.
I liked Perry in the no 10 role as he has that bit of passing ability and quality but never seems to get a look in now. Pugh runs around a lot but he’s not as good as Beestin and Beestin was only signed from Tadcaster for crying out loud.
Wood shouldn’t even still be here, he should be back at Hull as he’s no better than what we have. Hackney I quite like.
Kenyon seems to be frozen out now too as he has the experience we need.

I think Hill has improved the team, sadly not enough to have improved the results.
He’s no magician. I just don’t think this group collectively have the ability to be able to compete at league level.
This is what you get when you’re struggling and due to a chairman doing it on the cheap, have a team littered with inexperienced kids.
