I wouldn’t mind taking him back on a cheap contract to act as backup to Dewhurst.
If he get’s a good striker in and a few more additional players I think he’ll do alright. Least he’s getting his own players in now and baby Swann’s not pushing forward complete and utter shite.
If you look at the spine of the team with Boyce & Taft centrally at the back with Butterfield, Beestin and Whitehouse in central midfield…it’s not half bad. Dewhurst looks more than capable in goal. I just hope Nuttall performs well. Then we have Feeney behind him…plenty of experience on show.
I like what Hill’s done personally, with what he’s had to work with he’s done really well.

Liam Feeney named as Captain.
I thought it may have been Boyce but that’s a good enough choice.
Surely Nuttall’s strength is being a target man? Given his movement – or lack of it!
If you remember last season Nuttall was playing the target man role last season and he was woefully poor in the air. Nuttall never looked like he had the mentality to play as a target man.
Ryan loft was something similar, he had all the attributes to be a target man but didn’t have it in him to play that role either. Nutall going from pre season likes to pull out wide and prefers to run the channels. Only problem with that is the fact he’s not in the box when he’s needed.
Nuttall needs a partner to play off and Carver might be the hard grafting target man “least that’s what he’s supposed to be” to bring the best out of him.
Last true target men we had were Jon Parkin and Super Torps. Joe Garner “who spent more time on the floor feigning injury” did a job as well.
Carver is from Blackburn
They’re on about the carvers chippy in Ashby, Scunthorpe you doughnut lol
When The Prawn leaves the positivity begins.
I don’t even think that would be enough for Ferrite !
I don’t know why you’re lauding Hallam as a key player in a key position. I certainly don’t see him as that at all. Beestin and Feeney you can understand but Hallam ?
Boyce is more than solid enough. Butterfield has been fit through all pre season so he’s hardly put together with duct tape like Hallam. I don’t know where you get that Dewhurst is a downgrade from Watson from. Only worry for is if he picks up an injury and young Foster is left as back up.
Strike force is a worry but if we get another in who has some kind of track record then I’ll be alright.
Ferrite you’re without doubt one of the most pessimistic, negative fans on this forum…we went through this last week. Can’t you for once just try and be a little more positive with your out look ?
I know you’re naturally a glass half empty kind of character but come on Ferrite…least try and be a bit more positive.
August 3, 2022 at 11:21 am in reply to: Will Today be the day for the takeover to go through ? #241891Or it may just mean he’s speaking to PS?
Well since the last interview he gave he hasn’t said a word about the takeover so if he’s coming out now and choosing to say something, it must be an update on the takeover, surely !
I know Hill isn’t a fan of the loan system but, as we only have 1 in there’s room there. I wouldn’t be averse to a young striker from the EFL and I wonder if Peplow is still in the frame when fit.
One of those mysteries we may never know. Kahoussi was here and was impressing in training from what I read and he disappeared and the club never said a word about it. I know Hill liked Peplow but then he turned his ankle and not heard anything since.
Nice for another striker to come in. As mentioned above, he did really well in NLN so hopefully he replicates that form here. Still need another more proven striker either lower league two or national league goalscorer.
As stated above, another CB, ST and left sided attacker..we’ll be ok.
Bit risky having young Foster as back up.
Isn’t he only a year or two younger than our loanee number 1?
Yes but at least Dewhurst has had first team experience and good coaching at Sheff Utd. Foster hasn’t had any.
The reason Sheff Utd got rid was because he was injured for large parts there too and seriously curtailed his development. What was Swannster thinking offering him a 2yr deal ?
Another one of this masterstrokes, he’s never fit and is out injured again.
You can add a CB and a left sided attacker to that list as well…about 4 players short at the moment and somewhere down the line we may need a more experienced GK.
Bit risky having young Foster as back up.
Daniel is shown in the latest training pics from today so yes he’s fit. I also saw Nthle in the last few training pics so he’ll be getting his fitness up.
I haven’t seen Hallam though in any of the pics so he’s obviously crocked again. Surprise, surprise. I know he’s not meaning to be injured all the time but as soon as we get taken over and we have a bit of money to play with, he needs paying up and removing from the squad..may as well use his wage on somebody who can stay fit for more than a handful of games.
It’s documented as having been so in the most recently available accounts. See page 25 – item 16.
If the debt has been written off then fair play, I’ll apologise. I just thought even if the debt was moved from the club onto a difference asset it would still need paying off but if it doesn’t and it’s been written off then good on Swann.
I can’t say I completely buy it but if that’s what’s down on record I’ll have to go with it.
2. Can’t do anything about this one but the mystic that is known on here as Wondergoals says he will be gone this week.
Only going by what I was told on twitter. I will be very, very surprised if Swannster is still here by the time we play Yeovil. Even site editor Matt knows it’s not far away, as I keep saying it’s just a matter of time now.
Finishing touches to be done now and then Swann can toddle off to Blackpool and start up a glamorous donkey riding business up and down the pleasure beach.
I do firmly believe the players who Hill said he wants to sign this month will come in once the new owners are in. I know it’s difficult not to be sceptical but it’s definitely happening.
I know we’re not in a good place at the moment but we’re lucky in the sense we’ve got a buyer this swiftly because Fenty held on to Grimbsy for years before he cleared off.

Why not wait until you know what is happening before abusing someone?
I saw the clubs accounts on companies house a while ago, aren’t we 14 or 15 million in debt. I think it’s tethered to coolsilk so it’s on their books but it’s still going to need paying back.
Where did I abuse Swann ?
I’m not requiring anything too earth shattering. All I want them to state is that they want to push on out of this league and that the money will be there to sign the players.
Not bothered about a new ground. Swannster has left us with quite a debt so we’ll still need to be careful.

All I know is I asked Neil Wright about when it will be announced “The actual completed takeover” and he said this coming week. As other people have said on this forum, the 1st of August was always a rumoured date.
The directors test got passed around 3 days ago so it’s just the finishing touches now. I just hope it doesn’t drag on for too long.
Really
Admire your optimism hope your rightNothing to do with optimism. The takeover is going through, it’s just a matter of time. The takeover will create an actual piggy bank to get players in, rather than us coppering up.
I just hope it goes through soon.
We don’t need to compare it to men’s football.
All I did was give reasons as to why it was a lot easier for the ladies winning than it was for the men due to the difference of the depth of quality.
Southgate is the biggest reason though. If the FA weren’t in love with him he would have been dumped before now.
Siderite I wasn’t rubbishing their achievements. I did say they did the country proud, they clearly did really well in winning it.
What more do you want people to say ?
The girls done good !
Bringing in a decent striker will probably involve a fee and a decent wage. Will that cause problems with those playing for peanuts?
Potentially. What else can we do though ?
I do have a sneaking suspicion players will start coming in but only once we’re taken over and we actually have a pot to piss in. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Hill hasn’t already singled out players ready to move once the takeovers gone through.
Well they’ve passed the owners and directors test and Neil the fan representative said it would hopefully go through this coming week. No doubt he said hopefully because he obviously doesn’t know an exact day.
I know people are cynical and will be up until it’s announced but it is happening, it’s just a matter of time. On the sealing of your letterbox, they can get around that issue with highly sophisticated carrier pigeons.
Based on the current squad and (lack of a) strike force I would say not a lot !
I have an inkling the players who Hill said will be signing throughout Jan will start rolling in when the clubs taken over and we actually have competitive funds to go out and get good players.
Patience is needed.
Well done ladies you have done what the blokes could not
Not only is the depth of quality a lot deeper in the men’s game, we also have an incompetent manager while the women have a world class one. Big difference.
Fantastic win and occasion. They did the country proud.
One thing I’m sure of though is that if the Lionesses had Nuttall masquerading as a women, sporting a mind blowing wig they would have been 6-1 up and wouldn’t have needed extra time.
Only a slight issue though.
First 11 mid table, if and when the injuries and suspensions bite we will be in a relegation battle. No real strength in depth that you need to compete near the top.
All depends if we get two good strikers, left sided attacker and possibly another CB.. If we get those and properly strengthen then we’ll be ok.
I think if we sign 2 good strikers and a left sided attacker, top 6 I think. No reason why we can’t compete, Boyce and Taft strong at CB, Ogle now strengthening the right side and O’Malley is more than talented enough for this league.
I don’t think many teams will have a midfield central 3 much better than Whitehouse, Beestin and Butterfield.
All depends on 3 more signings “good signings” and having a squad that’s not having people break down every couple of matches.
Couple 3 good signings with new owners and a fresh start..I’m quite optimistic.
Gk position worries me slightly but Dewhurst looks a very able GK. Only worry is that if he hits a bad patch/loses confidence we’ve only got young Foster as back up. That could prove problematic.

I would probably have gone if any of these things had happened:
An announcement that the takeover was progressing.
Well it’s progressing. Directors test has been passed and hoping for it to be announced next week.
What more do you require ?
The strikers will come once we have a pot to piss in = New Owners
I can’t see Hill going through the season with one recognized questionable striker.

All Neil wrote was “next week hopefully”. I’m sure he didn’t break any laws, Knuts.
Just to be crystal clear, I wrote the “Definitely appears to be going through, it’s just a matter of time”. That was simply my opinion. That didn’t come from Neil.
I’ve just been told the announcement as we all thought will hopefully be next week. Neil has followed me back fairly sharpish so now can read his tweets.
ME
Thanks for the follow Neil. You followed me but for some reason wasn’t following you !. I see the owners and directors test was passed for the prospective buyers.
You got any idea when it may be announced ?
1:08 PMNeil
Hopefully next week🤞
1:11 PMDefinitely appears to be going through…it’s just a matter of time.
