I don’t think anyone was suggesting that cracks were being papered over, merely just showing appreciation for the massive culture change that has occurred during the last couple of months.
There is still work to do, but if we can’t actually enjoy it when the club get things right both on and off the pitch then what’s the point ?
Spot on. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Turnbull has done a terrific job and the matchday experience as a whole against Yeovil was superb and it was backed up by brilliant fan support on the day as a result.
There will be certain people that just simply won’t ever be pleased by anything.

This started as a thread claiming Swann being shafted by the council which has somehow morphed into the a rather boring drab thread about the train/rail system.
As said above, keep this kind of stuff off this part of the forum.
THIS IS FOR FOOTBALL, NOT LABOUR, NOT CONSERVATIVES OR THE LACK OF A RELIABLE RAIL SYSTEM.
Get a grip.
Doesn’t sound good I’m afraid. I was told by Neil that the board were expecting an update from Swannster and he still hasn’t heard anything so you have to assume he hasn’t update the board.
Whatever is happening behind the scenes, I doubt it’s good. I don’t know whether it’s down to the fact he truly doesn’t want to let go or the fact he’s potentially moving the goal posts in a bid to try and get every single last penny for it.
I’m only guessing here but find it odd that he still hasn’t updated the board.
Not got a good feeling about this. I say give it another week but if it still isn’t done then don’t hold out much hope. Dragging on too long now.
Iron, I’ll ask Neil Wright….you better not be right !
So it’s stalled, stumbled but is still on ?
Wasn’t you was it, Deerey ?
Very good grey lag. As said above, two wins from two is a very good start but squad is paper thin in terms of back up. If we had the options we wouldn’t have lined up with Daniel as a left sided attacker, would we ?
I hope we get some more players in soon.
As somebody said the other day. This is a lawyers wet dream. Lawyers never rush….rushing equals less money. As mentioned earlier, there will be a lot of negotiating due to the mortgage on the ground was secured against coolsilk.
The new owner/owners will have to get the transferred over because that mortgage will obviously need paying. All that will want ironing out.
4 is mad. I reckon we only need a CB and a wide player.
I don’t know whether you’re taking the piss or you’re being serious. I hope it’s not the latter !
We definitely need another striker, CB, Wide attacker and possibly a CM to offer experienced cover for Butterfield and Whitehouse.
You could even argue Hill may be after another couple of strikers, 1 CB and 1 wide attacking player….anyway whichever way you put it, 4 additional players is bang on.
Keadby, going into this season with only Nuttall and Carver as genuine striking options is lunacy.
Still a whole week for those training ground injuries to kick in!
BOOOOO. Also a week for the players to further improve. Yes, I’m in an ultra positive mindset with everything Iron at the minute. Let’s not tempt fate with players picking up injuries.
Our squads depth’s shite at the minute in certain positions.
I hope Hill works his magic and get’s some more players in. I imagine with a proper left sided attacker and not a LB playing there, we’d look even better. I can’t wait for rest of the season after the effort put in on the first game back.
Huge difference.
Good luck to him, lovely guy on and off the pitch. He’s definitely higher class player league 1 max but he needs game time at his age and he won’t get it at Wrexham
I thought he was ok at best. Watson made far too many errors for my liking.
I know BT sport do a 30 min brief National League round up but apart from that, not sure what there is out there as it’s not the best covered league.
BT sport round up is pretty good as you don’t get people wittering on between the covered matches, which what annoys me with the football league coverage.
August 7, 2022 at 4:06 pm in reply to: Will Today be the day for the takeover to go through ? #242288Forgive me for a little negativity, WG, but the longer this goes on the more likely it is that it will end up being yet another empty promise (in a very long line of empty promises)
Complete disagree. I saw Oldhams supposed takeover weeks before ours broke out and theirs still isn’t done. No doubt it’s taking more time than what Swann suggested but it’s going on in the background and Swann is giving the board an update sometime this coming week.
Fingers crossed it’s a significant update.
Swannster must have something to say otherwise he wouldn’t update the board, would he ?
Think positive. I keep saying this but it’s taking time and patience is needed. Can it fall through ?, yes..certainly could but it’s still going on and Neil Wright is under the impression it’s still going on behind the scenes so that’s enough for me.
Let’s just see what the board update is and then we’ll have more of an idea.

Did you read the cynicism from Turnbull when me mentioned the excuse given by the telegraph not to offer coverage ?. You could tell with what he said in the statement he thought it was complete bullshit.
Daniel not too sure about playing in a attacking role. Granted he was a bit behind fitness wise as some of the others but there’s a reason why he’s spent a significantly large chunk of his career at LB.
Nuttall was steady but can’t see him scoring many. Taft at times was a bit iffy but everybody else were pretty impressive. Carver will probably end up taking Nuttall’s place through the middle but as said previously, we need a wide attacking player to add to what we have for sure.
Carver even though not up to match fitness showed more in 20 minutes than Nuttall did all the time he was on the pitch, in terms of actually been a threat on goal. A lot to be pleased about though.
I was more than pleased. I just hope the club get’s moved on to people who are actually willing to do something with it sooner rather than later and we draft some good players in.

. It’s a sad situation because every local link the club can forge with the towns contributors is worth pursuing
Couldn’t agree more but they’re clearly acting like pathetic arse hole. The reason they gave as to why they’re not interesting in providing coverage for our games is a cop out.
They offered Grimsby plenty of coverage last season, did they not ?
As I said above, if they want to be spiteful then that’s on them. If I was Turnbull after being snubbed going there in good faith, I’d tell them not to publish anything Scunthorpe United and tell them to shove it.
Couldn’t we create our own independent news website covering everything Scunthorpe United ?. Granted it would need fan funding to cover the costs but it’s definitely achievable.
what is wrong with Lee as Chairman Burny
Nothing I like him but you would think that the new owner/owners will probably put fresh people in. That’s not to say Lee can’t still keep his role though and work along side a few others.
I think Turnbull’s fantastic. The work and effort he’s put in to make today what it was is truly impressive. You can tell he loves the club.
Pity Swannster didn’t have the same attitude.

Get a new chairman in Openhearth and a few more players, no reason why today can’t be the norm.

Nothing to boycott, it’s a load of shite and has been for quite a while when it got Peter Swann style budget cuts. All it writes up is second hand stories you can get a lot quicker from alternative sources anyway.
Ironawe, I suspect it has something to do with Max Bell and when Swannster told them where to go.
Turnbull went to them in good faith to smooth it over and they’ve completely snubbed us.
They can shove it. I don’t give a toss about them. If they want to be arseholes then let them.

I like Wilson personally, think he’s definitely got something about him. Daniel will have been a bit behind other players fitness wise because he picked up that injury, didn’t he ?
Wilson is a sub option for Feeney and young Lewis will be a sub option for Daniel but still need another one in. Another attacking wide player, CB and ST and we’ll be alright.
Get a new chairman in with fresh direction and we’ll be buzzing. Turnbull has breathed more life into the club in this short stint at the helm than Swann has in all his years here.
You can see the difference between one passionate bloke who actually loves the club and a horse fancier who supports Leicester City.
The difference is like night and day.
Perhaps we used our parachute money to bring in Butterfield. He MUST be on a fair whack.
No doubt he’ll be on fair wedge but still to even attract him to play at this level is staggering. Ironically we’ve dropped down to national league and we’ve got a player like Butterfield.
Whitehouse is no slouch himself either. Both will need to be managed carefully and rested at times throughout the season. If we can keep both fit, I don’t think you’ll find many, if any better at this level.
True. I just couldn’t work out where he was playing. I tried to track him to see where he settled but he was all over the place.
I said when he signed Butterfield that he shouldn’t be at this level. In my opinion he should be comfortable at top end league 1 level. I don’t know what Hill said to him to get him to sign but whatever it was he needs a pat on the back from every iron fan for getting him in.
Whitehouse looked good as well.
Anybody know the length of Butterfield’s contract ?

August 5, 2022 at 10:03 pm in reply to: Will Today be the day for the takeover to go through ? #242125There wasn’t a mortgage on it then.
That’s what I meant about taking time to transfer it all back over. The whole thing is intertwined with coolsilk so there will be a lot of bullshit needed to cut through probably before completion.
The mortgage coolsilk took out on the ground will need paying back so that will have to be negotiated. As I said above, hopefully we get some positive news next week.
Fingers crossed it’s moved on somewhat. The news must be fairly significant otherwise Swann wouldn’t update the board would he ?
August 5, 2022 at 8:25 pm in reply to: Will Today be the day for the takeover to go through ? #242117That fit persons test had definitely been passed but obviously a lot more to it. Swann when he gave that interview did give the impression that once it was passed that it would be straight forward but obviously not.
Due diligence goes hand in hand with the fit and proper persons test and that’s already been passed by the FA as far as I’m aware. That’s what Neil told me anyway.
I would agree about the terms and purchase contracts is probably what’s taking the time as all the clubs assets I think we’re legally coolsilks so all that’s going to need to be transferred back over to the club, via lawyers, negotiation and paperwork.
Anyway, update next week so hopefully it’s moved on a bit in terms of completion. I’ll keep everybody up to date If I squeeze anything else out of Neil.
August 5, 2022 at 7:25 pm in reply to: Will Today be the day for the takeover to go through ? #242110More new regarding take over from Neil Wright….
ME….
Not going to lie, I thought it was going to go through by now. 48 hours now has turned into a week since the directors test was passed. I hope we aren’t going to go through what Grimsby did when they were stuck with Fenty for years.
NEIL…..
He’s assured the Board we’ll get an update after the weekend sadly.
ME…
Hopefully it’s good news. The drawn out time has gotten everybody a bit twitchy !
NEIL….
We’re all twitchy and I’d hoped that we’d go in to tomorrow with new owners.
So still very much on but not close to getting done yet. It appears it’s not as simplistic as Swann made it out to be during the interview he gave. The club assets, ground e.t.c were signed over to Coolsilk so it may be a lot more complicated getting it all moved back over to the club.
Not sure but still going on behind the scenes. Don’t expect an on pitch announcement because you’ll be disappointed.
Surely WG wasn’t talking out of his posterior
I will admit when I’m wrong and I clearly was wrong.
Now go crawl back under that rock !
No surprise Hallam is out again with the same fecked hamstring. It will get to a point even for him in the near future when he’s got to acknowledge that his body simply can’t withstand the strain of training.
I suspect this may be the last go now for him and if this doesn’t go well it’s curtains.

August 4, 2022 at 7:49 pm in reply to: Will Today be the day for the takeover to go through ? #242032Still going on behind the scenes but it’s dragging on a bit !
Funny, I could have sworn you were telling me all through January that we were getting a “big & nasty”
I was going more by clips I’d seen, what people were saying and the size of him but obviously he’s not a true target man. How would anybody be 100% sure of what he offered ?
Nuttall hadn’t played enough games. If Hill knows Carver is a target man and Nuttall clearly likes to run the channels, we need more of a poacher type now in a bid to get the goals scored we’re going to need.
