A great blog on this, detailing the pathetic and transparent goalpost shifting and weak realpolitik to favour Russia:

    https://johnganz.substack.com/p/some-thoughts-on-ukraine

Both the worst of the left and the right have shamed themselves with their desperation to apologise for Russia. The leftists, because they see western capitalism and ‘neoliberalism’ as the great evil, and any opponent must be more supportable. The rightists, because they see the west as degenerate and Russia, on the face of it, as representing their grubby values.

One problem. Trump’s admitted to taking the secret documents through his tweets.

I doubt the ‘sceptics’ have any shred of evidence for their assertions. Just baseless inklings, which isn’t a sceptical or thoughtful position at all really.

They prey on the minds of those who don’t trust the more mainstream media. It’s good to be sceptical of the media. However, blindly not agreeing with media output because it’s mainstream displays very little critical thinking, and they are being as unthinking as the ‘sheep’ they decry for watching BBC/CNN/Sky News. You have to assess stories for evidence, logic and merit, regardless of the source, and shunning BBC News for some naysayer on Youtube displays little in the way of scepticism, in its true meaning.

Johnson’s decision to tick off his bucket list after announcing he’d resign looks a great idea now we are in further political stagnation because of this, all during a time where governance is needed.

With the Queen’s passing it’s probably a good opportunity to get rid of bank notes and coins.

Don’t really need them now and it would save the Treasury billions not having to mint and print new issues bearing King Charles’s head.

Likewise stamps. Simple barcode stickers is all that’s needed.

Oh God. BPG is going to have the Queen’s death as part of ‘the plan’ for the great reset, isn’t he? X-)

I am sure that is the motive, though I hadn’t made any accusations. I just said that he’s up there with other owners deemed poor (with non-sweary nicknames for these).

Anyway, I realise that running this site brings such risk, so I don’t want to make anything more of it.

Blimey. I didn’t think my last reply was that slanderous or offensive! I was just saying I think Swann is up there with the worst owners. :-O

Good to see Bucks admit his wrongs here. :-)

Thats why we have opinions les, I enjoy a little LC but Dylans back catalouge is so vast and playable on guitar it’s a no brainer for me.

Controversial opinion: Bob Dylan’s a wonderful songwriter but a rubbish performer. Almost every Dylan cover is an upgrade on the original.

I can’t agree. Not a great singer, technically, but it makes it quintessentially Dylan. I would rather listen to his work than the majority of covers. Jimi Hendrix and All Along the Watchtower one of the few exceptions.

It does depend on the context. The Taliban destroying the Buddhist statues of Bamiyan was cultural vandalism.

Nuanced and complex problems societies face creates uncertainty and anxiety in many. Hence why the conspiracies are so appealing. They offer a simplistic solution full of certainty. It’s less anxiety inducing, when you don’t like the idea of a cashless society, to think this is some nefarious plot with only downsides, over thinking there will be pros and cons, where there may be a less definitive right or wrong.

The fact that society is becoming cashless wasn’t what was labelled as a conspiracy theory. The sinister theorising behind it was. ;-)

To be fair, many of those former league clubs in that division are phoenix clubs who have risen to that level.

The costs saved from floodlights would not justify the lost fans who can’t make it, due to work commitments, I should imagine.

An interesting article on the cause of price rises:

    https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2022/aug/25/fact-check-is-net-zero-really-to-blame-for-soaring-energy-bills-green-levies-renewables

It’s from the Grauniad though, so I am sure the ‘reasonable’ will use their ‘balanced’ nature to just dismiss out of hand. :-)

If fans are going to harass the fan’s director they risk Neil thinking why bother and giving up, with few wanting to take over. Spoiling one of the good things that have happened recently through spite.

I thought the whole point of it was to have aggro with like-minded casuals, not harass the ‘scarfers’. If they must do this, why not save it for something away from the ground with Chesterfield, Oldham, Wrexham, Notts County or other clubs who have firms, not some club like Solihull, who I can’t imagine having a hooligan element?

Apparently they went straight for the Solihull supporters’ coaches after the game to taunt and harass their fans.

It’s so sad that Rudy has gone this way. He was a respected and respectable figure after 9/11 as NYC mayor. That would have been a legacy for him, which I would have admired, despite political differences. Now he will be remembered as Trump’s lickspittle and supporter of election overturning because he didn’t like the outcome.

Now Rudy has come up with what I am sure is a ‘balanced’ view for some, even if it is completely mad by any rational standard (sure, the former president’s home is some safe place for sensitive documents). Though, it is the Huff Post, so it might be just dismissed, despite it quoting his words.

    https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/rudy-giuliani-trump-documents_n_62ff16fbe4b063894831c567

It’s standard Republican tract. One minute we can’t assume Trump had the documents, to say otherwise is partisan. The next, he had good reasons to have the documents. Despite the flip-flopping and excuse making these are the reasonable ones, and are definitely not partisan. :-)

Looks like WG will have to tune out soon, as we have another off-topic discussion to drag on and on. :-)

    …evolution?… that’s only your theory,I guess.

We also have the theory of gravity, theory of plate tectonics and germ theory. I guess you take similar disbelief to those, as they are only theories too, and we might fall up if we jump out of a building? :-)
