It’s a shame Beestin and Clunan picked up such bad injuries at Rushall. Not in the same class as Butterfield but a bit closer than Shrimpton and Scales. We certainly created more when those 2 were playing.
I do think though that Shrimpton, Scales and Jenkins will all be better from playing with him and all 3 will go on to have decent careers.1 user thanked author for this post.

Could we just leave the bickering and the search for a new bogeyman for a week or two?
I don’t know Simon personally but it is blatantly obvious he cares about our club passionately. Unlike most of us anonymous experts he has got off his arse and tried to help. With Sharp he tried to put a better option on the table and was knocked back by Swann. He didn’t throw his toys out of the pram but tried hard to support what was the only option once Hilton took over. With hindsight we now have many who claim to have known Hilton was a wrongun from day 1. Shame none of them spoke up at the fans forum.
Nothing is resolved until the ground is secured and Swann has nothing to do with the club. It would be good to keep the unity thing going until that is sorted at least.
While I am at it I want to apologise to IB who was actually was giving out warnings about Hilton pretty much from the start. I questioned his motives a number of times but whatever his motives actually were his warnings were substantially correct.

Agree IA. Bennett won his fair share of headers yesterday and put 3 or 4 of them into good areas. If Elliott and Wilson had been switched on chances would have resulted.
Biggest problem this team has is that none of our forwards look like they can score 20 goals a season from open play. Dean has the team favouring a pass back to the halfway line rather than hitting a hopeful cross. Not necessarily disagreeing with that tactic but for it to work we need the crosses to be high quality when they do come in. Neither Elliott or Wilson cross the ball well and Ogle/Denton/Kelly don’t either.
Butterfield can deliver but is rarely in a crossing position in open play. We are comfortably the best football team in this league (based on the teams we have played so far) but we create a low number pf chances relative to the football we play.
Fine if you have a Sharpe or Hooper up front but a problem if you don’t.
Roberts might have the quality to make the difference if an when he finally plays but until then I would prefer getting the ball into the box more quickly and more often.
Then we might see what Whitehall, Bennett and Elliott can do.

Good post Sidy except the bit about losing the ground. We lost the ground 2 years ago. Hilton had a very poor plan to get it back but it wasn’t him that took it from the club.
There are enough facts out there that any sane person will be relieved and delighted he is no longer involved without the need to embellish the story.

I agree a solution without Glanford Park is really not a solution at all.
It would be a stay of execution which is better than we are facing currently but without debt free use of the stadium I cannot see any prospect of a return to the EFL.
It would be ideal if the stadium was fan owned or at least 51% fan owned to guarantee this kind of situation cannot happen again.
Owning and funding the football club is a much more attractive proposition if the ground is guaranteed available for running costs and a peppercorn rent.
I would happily chuck in a grand or so towards the Iron Trust owning or part owning the ground providing Peter Swann is prepared to sell at a realistic price. There may be the appetite and the means amongst fans to raise the £1.5m that would seem to be about a fair price. Of course if Peter Swann has folks queuing up to pay the reported £3m for some relatively unattractive land with no planning consent and significant demolition costs then I fear the ground is gone forever.
