Watching the City game on Tuesday neither Hornshaw or Rowe looked great at right back.
At least Vale fans liked him and would have loved him back there so I hope he could be the forward midfielder we are missing, still worried about Right Back though.
Are we going to sign a right back, but sounds a good signing.
Like Ironfan said Barton.
He said in that interview with Mike White that he laid into them because the players were more or less patting themselves on the back, our problem is there isn’t a balance between experience and inexperience and a lot of players have jumped up divisions in the league with only Gillihead and Watson being the only experienced players at the moment who is starting games, even Crewe who had a young team had four or five players with experience.
Neil Cox said in a Paper the other day he was pushing the local young players into the team and on Saturday overlooked Eisa even off the bench when under pressure, but playing too many players out of position is a puzzle.
I was looking forward to seeing Neil and Mark in charge but he turned his promised 4 4 2 formation into a Russ Wilcox Borefest style after a couple of pre season games and he isn’t winning fans over with our football but I hope he eventually gets it right because we have had three horrendous seasons and for the clubs sake I hope this gamble pays off, I am just hoping we don’t see Van Veen at full back.not the Scunthorpe way nowadays Pele, we have to grind out results, entertainment is off the radar.
I didn’t know that.
I wasn’t impressed with Kelsey, the only other time I saw him play was against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup and he played well in that one, our problem is we are playing too many players out of position, Central Midfield at Right Wing Back, Wingers in Central Midfield, and god knows where some others were playing.
Average age of 17?, ours was less than 22 but we didn’t have the pick of some of the best young World talent to pick from,
And they certainly didn’t do themselves any favours, wasn’t many who impressed to be fair, a very average performance against a good young football team.
Clubs get a minimum of 80% according to iFollow
It was great seeing Rory get a man of the match performance, but remember he has played about 50 games to get one, so just pleased to see him have a better start to the season with no major errors and hopefully now he is virtually the senior defender I hope the improvement continues, regarding the defence my biggest concern is right back and don’t think Hornshaw is a full back but hopefully he gets better, the centre defence looks solid, I like Vincent, Hallam and Spence but Hippolyte looks like he has potential but seems to do better for the first 45 minutes, Gilliead is a good player, Loft has had 3 decent games and 1 shocker, but I don’t like playing 1 up front at home, can’t understand though why Eisa i’snt starting because you need some league experience in the team, same with Macatee, it’s OK Neil saying he is pushing the local lads into the team but supporters pay to see the best team available and I hope this isn’t the reason Colclough and Co are being left out the team.
Also what has happened to the exciting attacking football, the result was great on Saturday but for once Rory Watson saved us from a possible defeat, and that is something I have never said before.
the interview was with Mike White by the way.
Few points from post-match with
@SUFCOfficial
boss Neil Cox.On Eisa not featuring: “it’s one of those games I’m not sure he was gonna get much of the ball. He needs to go out wide & run at people. We was one nil up & had to stick by it at home & not sure it would suit him.”
On McAtee (who had to self-isolate): “he’s missed 3 weeks of training. I can’t afford to play somebody & bring them off after 35 minutes with a hamstring. Macca’s been doing extra. Again, people keep telling me he’ll be leaving but we haven’t heard anything.”
On Dünnwald-Turan’s absence: “Kenan felt his groin, little bit tightened up on Thursday. Could’ve played but we’ve got long season ahead of us and a big enough squad that I didn’t have to play him. Hopefully should be back in training by Wednesday or Thursday”
On Colclough: “Ryan’s had a bit of a thigh problem & playing in a 3-5-2 (previously) didn’t suit him. If we do change it to a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 he’ll be back in there. At the moment I’ve probably got more wingers than anyone in the country and it’s hard.”
so make of that what you like about playing attacking football, I think Russ has given him advice how to play in this division, why since Alexander suddenly switched formations 3 months before he was sacked have we had managers who want to grind out results, if this style of football stays it will be my last season, I don’t like losing but don’t like having nervious breakdown in the last half hour either, especially when we have players to worry opponents.
WE was promised 4 4 2 attacking football a few weeks ago, but this is Ultra Wilcox and is awful to watch especially at home, the line up wasn’t set up for entertaining football and I think in 5 games we have only had 6 or 7 shots on target, I know we have players injured but we had 3 players who are attacking players either not involved or on the bench unused, so what is the news on Colclough because there has been no mention of injury as far as I know, and McAtee was isolating and not injured so should have been soon up to speed, and why isn’t Eisa starting.
Watson 9
Hornshaw 5
Cordner 8
Bedeau 8
O’Malley 7
Hippolyte 5
Spence 7
Vincent 7
Gilliead 7
Hallam 7
Loft 7Ref 6 at least he didn’t give any important decisions against us but gave some free kicks that didn’t look free kicks.
Cox 5 I know he is learning and we have a number of players out but it was a strange lineup and he picked a team to play against Carlisle rather than a team to win a game comfortably, I hope we are not going to watch Russ style performances every week and going to be entertained because though the result was great the entertainment wasn’t, where is Colclough, Turin and McAtee, and surely Clarke must be near fit now also.
I understand you are a happy boy PLI.
@bowiebhoy72 PLI.
if you can send Matt a message and tell him I have sent him a direct message on twitter it will help.
if you are not on twitter I have contacted Matt, SST if he can be a in-between if possible.
are you on twitter because one poster has a small adult which he can part with because he has 3 of his own.
he hasn’t got any PLI, his words were “Rare as hen’s teeth these Days Mick.” so the best way unless someone on here has got one try eBay.
I’ve just contacted Bernard Griffin at Irish Iron to see if he knows if any are available so can’t do any more than that PLI.
But they have stewards for some reason.
When we played Newport it was the first league game I had missed at the Sands Siro since it was built, I felt sad on the day but at least I watched it on TV via the laptop, I have missed a FA Cup game and 4 or 5 League Cup and Micky Mouse Trophy games though.
But like Barton the pass is the same as the season ticket, but saved on petrol and other oddments, and also won’t have to go to night matches on a cold winters night, though I would sooner have been there.Been reading about the Colchester v Bolton game, Colchester sold 750 appr iFollow passes in which being the home club getting all the revenue, Bolton sold appr 2250 passes, Colchester got the money for 500 passes with Bolton getting the rest, so Bolton got more money than the home team, it it had been played with Supporters the home side would have got it all, the week before Colchester sold 350 passes for the game at Bradford so got nothing so I can see the bigger clubs having a better chance of survival than the smaller ones so fearing the worst for clubs like ours unless PS can cover it, so some people before you pull the Chairman down just remember if he doesn’t stand the losses we can easily join Macclesfield.
Early October but can’t remember the date.
What I have seen of the Vale, Newport and Crawley games is, defensively we have not played with a proper full back apart from Butroid against Vale, all 4 goals conceded in these games have all been defensive errors or poor defending, the goals against Newport and Crawley through playing a midfielder at right back and getting caught on the wrong side of the winger, central defence looks OK apart from Vale’s first goal, midfield seems OK, but upfront Loft was isolated first 2 games but scored 2 cracking goals, yesterday he wasn’t at his best so people who have praised him the last 2 games have made him the worst footballer ever, he had a new partner yesterday who had a indifferent game, we are without a few players through injuries and a couple who we have no idea were they are, but over those 3 games we have never troubled the keeper apart from the 2 goals, players are being played out of position and the formation isn’t suiting what we have got, we desperately need experience at full back or proper full backs and honestly Hornshaw will never be a full back, also attack wise we need to start working the keeper because yesterday he only had one shot to save, and seeing what height we have upfront I can’t remember us winning many headers and never felt we would score always picking up wrong options.
10000 watching Borussia Dortmund last night, Bayern not allowed supporters in the afternoon so even in Germany it depends on the area.
I thought the bowel screening was every 2 years.
