I more or less agree with Ironawe, though find it difficult to give anyone a 6, never mind improvement I think we are going backwards, the promised attacking football has never materialised and for a home team we again like with Russ in charge must be the most boring team to watch, this type of football will never bring fans back to the Sans Siro and when supporters do come back I can’t see us getting above 2000, some of the players are out of their depth at this level and I don’t think we would win the National League North, the only bright side to yesterday I had no streaming problems, I didn’t have to use £5 worth of petrol and pay £3 at the Old Farmhouse to park, and I had my tea on time.
how to go from league 1 playoff contenders to National League Premier League in 3 seasons.
Also having Matt Gilks, Conor Townsend, Murray Wallace, Duane Holmes, Hakeeb Adelakon, Paddy Madden, Neil Bishop and Josh Morris at that time and look what we have now, I don’t think I have seen us have a close season before were I haven’t heard of any of the new players before.
Have you got VPN, if so switch it off.
I was told on Twitter yesterday you don’t need to tell your employer if you get arrested but personally being a footballer you haven’t just got the manager and chairman to deal with, the EFL etc will probably get involved if proven guilty, but you get the impression he must have problems or attitude but he isn’t the first player here to have had issues in the past.
it probably hasn’t helped him here being left out in the cold by different managers and possibly needs someone to put faith in him to turn his head straight, a bit like people with mental health, confidence in yourself is massive and I know from personal experience if you get the feeling as if the world is against you depression takes over and some turn to drink or even worse.
A Policeman by the sounds of it.
that’s of course is if it is the same Ryan Colclough.
Personally I think Vincent,Spence, Cordner and Taylor are our better signings at present, with Manny looking quite decent on his cameos.
I only decided to watch it at 7 minutes to 3 and that will be the last away game, I will watch the home games because I have got a season ticket.
“Well done to finding two decent centre backs, but not so well done for going into a new season with no experienced full backs and a goalie who has one good game in five.”
one in twenty would be closer NI, central defence and midfield are OK, full back is a massive problem, also with one inexperienced and one not a full back or winger we are not getting the crosses in yet we have other forwards or wingers available and with our present set up we play pretty football and have no goal threat.
Watson 5 poor punch out for their second goal
Hornshaw 5 not his fault but not a wing back
Cordner 6 not his best game but OK
Bedeau 6 gone backwards a little, but OK
O’Malley 6 good prospect
Gillihead 6 did OK
Vincent 6 did OK
Spence 7 played well
Taylor 8 easily best player
Loft 6 little support, played better
Hippolyte 6 still adapting, comical collision with his own playerTuran 6 little impact
Eisa 6 little impact
Green 5 little impactReferee 8 best man on the pitch, been impressed with refs this season.
Cox 4 everyone was looking forward to his arrival and attacking football, but this style of football won’t encourage fans to come to games when we eventually come back.
we have had negative style football since 2 months before Alexander left, and playing that way with young inexperienced players is a possible disaster.
we were promised 4 4 2 exciting attacking football which is better for young players to adapt to, so if Russ couldn’t make it work with experienced players what is this achieving, we are averaging 2 shots on target a game yesterday it was one, yet though we are not conceding many Tranmere only needed 2 shots and you can’t expect Rory playing a blinder every week seeing his previous 50 odd games didn’t produce any.
can’t understand the having your best players being on the bench or sat in the stand and when you play a lone striker why we are not playing 2 wingers, and no point saying the full backs are wing backs well they hardly get out of their own half and the right back is neither a full back or winger, from what I have seen in football wingers make better wing backs than full backs do.
I am afraid bottom 4 is looking possible because I can’t see us winning many games because we are relying on every shot going in the opposing net and it’s not thrilling to watch, when we get a corner we are now taking short ones and the ball doesn’t get into the area and also I know Neil is new to management but has been a number 2 for a few years what about a Plan b in formation if we go behind because when we are 0-0 we play brightly even if we put little pressure on the keeper but when we go behind you never imagine we will get a equaliser because we till look like we are playing for a 0-0 draw, no urgency, and the swapping of Vincent and Taylor in the second half was ridiculous.
and regarding Peter Swann being involved with formations and team selection I would doubt it, regarding transfers he has to approve them but would doubt if he has seen many of them play before unless he went to watch them last season with Lee Turnbull or the Manager, but wouldn’t be surprised if Russ has influence.
Different manager, different players but Russ’s style of football.
Blocked shots aren’t shown on the stats, but what I have seen I can’t remember us doing a lot of attacking to have a lot of blocked shots.
Port Vale on target 3 goals 1
Newport on target 4 goals 1
Crawley on target 1 goals 0
Carlisle on target 2 goals 1
Tranmere on target 1 goals 0Certainly going backwards on attempts, so average of 2 shots on target per game, and averaging 0.6 goals a game, so it’s riveting stuff in our opponents half and something needs changing, and it’s not all the forwards fault, playing without wingers we aren’t getting enough crosses in for the big lads and our so called wing backs rarely go over the halfway line, still trying to work out what position Gillihead is playing in this formation, also why did we change Taylor and Vincent positions because we were woeful second half, also Rory was more back to form with that punch for the second goal.
Giving it a miss today, no right back, no Colclough, McAtee, Hallam in squad, Eisa on bench so boring Wilcox style boring sit back tactics I expect so can’t warrant £10 today, getting disillusioned with Neil after being promised exciting attacking 4 4 2 football.
Never had any problems.
Cheltenham and Exeter away the kickoffs have been brought forward to 6pm and 1pm if that is any good to you, you obviously don’t go to Saturday afternoon games in normal times then.
Watching the City game on Tuesday neither Hornshaw or Rowe looked great at right back.
At least Vale fans liked him and would have loved him back there so I hope he could be the forward midfielder we are missing, still worried about Right Back though.
Are we going to sign a right back, but sounds a good signing.
Like Ironfan said Barton.
He said in that interview with Mike White that he laid into them because the players were more or less patting themselves on the back, our problem is there isn’t a balance between experience and inexperience and a lot of players have jumped up divisions in the league with only Gillihead and Watson being the only experienced players at the moment who is starting games, even Crewe who had a young team had four or five players with experience.
Neil Cox said in a Paper the other day he was pushing the local young players into the team and on Saturday overlooked Eisa even off the bench when under pressure, but playing too many players out of position is a puzzle.
I was looking forward to seeing Neil and Mark in charge but he turned his promised 4 4 2 formation into a Russ Wilcox Borefest style after a couple of pre season games and he isn’t winning fans over with our football but I hope he eventually gets it right because we have had three horrendous seasons and for the clubs sake I hope this gamble pays off, I am just hoping we don’t see Van Veen at full back.not the Scunthorpe way nowadays Pele, we have to grind out results, entertainment is off the radar.
I didn’t know that.
I wasn’t impressed with Kelsey, the only other time I saw him play was against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup and he played well in that one, our problem is we are playing too many players out of position, Central Midfield at Right Wing Back, Wingers in Central Midfield, and god knows where some others were playing.
Average age of 17?, ours was less than 22 but we didn’t have the pick of some of the best young World talent to pick from,
And they certainly didn’t do themselves any favours, wasn’t many who impressed to be fair, a very average performance against a good young football team.
Clubs get a minimum of 80% according to iFollow
It was great seeing Rory get a man of the match performance, but remember he has played about 50 games to get one, so just pleased to see him have a better start to the season with no major errors and hopefully now he is virtually the senior defender I hope the improvement continues, regarding the defence my biggest concern is right back and don’t think Hornshaw is a full back but hopefully he gets better, the centre defence looks solid, I like Vincent, Hallam and Spence but Hippolyte looks like he has potential but seems to do better for the first 45 minutes, Gilliead is a good player, Loft has had 3 decent games and 1 shocker, but I don’t like playing 1 up front at home, can’t understand though why Eisa i’snt starting because you need some league experience in the team, same with Macatee, it’s OK Neil saying he is pushing the local lads into the team but supporters pay to see the best team available and I hope this isn’t the reason Colclough and Co are being left out the team.
Also what has happened to the exciting attacking football, the result was great on Saturday but for once Rory Watson saved us from a possible defeat, and that is something I have never said before.
