Quiet, innit?

I suspect that Hallam is being targeted for that role.
Will he have been given a medical like any new signing? Can’t place the guy but if he is a solid, League Two CB – that is exactly what we need.
This may well be an actual strengthening of the team as he will surely have a bit more defensive nous than Bedeau.
Looks like he was released coz he is not deemed good enough to play in League One.
Fine. We are not in League One.Just totted up signings by
Division Foursorry, I meant League Two teams in preparation for the season.
It amounts to exactly 101.
Good to know that we have got the 1. Innit?
I truly hope that our one signing is not a pup – if you can spot where I’m going with this.
It really looks like we are searching for leftovers again. BTW – Millen is wanted by Northampton so – he’ll probably not becoming here unless he is won over by the extra 4 hours on the round trip back up to Scotland.Good win.

I’m struggling to explain what is going on.
Hope this hypothesis is not too bizarre.Let’s consider psychological manipulation as a possibility. We are all placed into a state of deep concern by the lack of activity.
Things finally happen and some players come in.
We are all so relieved, we barely notice that they are hardly a single notch above adequate.June 29, 2021 at 11:51 am in reply to: For the first time in my life I am jealous of the Cods #209391No.
In spite of everything – we are still a division higher. Only if we swap places at the end of the season …1 user thanked author for this post.
Have to agree.
It does rather seem like the actions of a club looking to bring in a clutch of players, though. Otherwise, it is surely pointless.
Are we to assume that he will be registered and required to maintain fitness to a high level so as to be usable if required? (And with our history of player injuries …)On a slightly different tack – are there coaches out there who possess a reputation for having fewer injuries to their charges than the norm and a lot fewer than what we seem to have? Coz if that applies to McMahon – I’d find that to be appealing thinking after our recent history.

Get on with it, Mick! (Double your usual stake!)
Sorry, IA. I couldn’t quite tell if you were being ironic there.
Is Humberside making anything of all this – I no longer bother going on there every day?
It seems tragic that the club could not have issued a simple statement.
“We have some interesting/positive/good/worthy/experienced (PYO) signings in the pipeline.”
If you do have you announce it.
If you don’t, you have to keep stumm.Anything from deep concern to panic is the inevitable consequence.

And the season after that …?
The problem is that the club knows exactly what the fans are thinking and has done a grand total of nothing to allay reasoned fears and suspicions.
I am thinking that this must mean that either they are unable to do so or (less likely) they will announce a sudden bevy of signings with a mighty fanfare of trumpets in such a manner as to undermine the realists on this site.
The trouble with the second thought is that there is damage being caused in the delay which will have lost many more supporters.I am moving slowly and inexorably towards Alcazar’s camp as events unfold – or rather don’t unfold.
As one who has always tried to give the leadership of the club the benefit of the doubt over years, for me this is a mega shift in stance.

With clubs in our division having already made up to nine signings – and who have not seen anything like 19 departures – what must we think?
You don’t think it was just a silly slip of the tongue – and he actually meant June?
Could it really be that simple? After all, it did seem wholly improbable at the time.
Embarrassing to admit if that were the case – but would surely have been the best option.Had there been a little more evidence …
Last day of May?I shall be quite happy to be content if some evidence is forthcoming that we are not getting leftovers or League One juniors on loan.
The budget can be adequate if intelligently used. I know a phenomenal amount about low budgets. I used to run a highly successful enterprise on a shoestring and was more successful than those with budgets six times greater. Fine details available to anyone but only if speaking face to face, in private. (And no, it was not cocaine importation or similar before some wit decides to suggest it.)
Ah. Thanks, mate!
We haven’t been told that current contracts run up to the 30th of June – yet.
We haven’t been told that the requisite signings are on holiday at present.
We haven’t been told … anything.
The communication with the fans is now worse than it has ever been – and that is saying rather a lot, innit?Do they even want to sell season tickets?

Good reputations can take years to build and can be destroyed in a matter of seconds.
With The Iron, I suspect that our reputation amongst players around the country may not be quite what it once was.
We are no longer regarded as a positive outfit – the result of several poor years and recent dreadful ones.It may well not be wages on offer which are the principal reason why players are no longer queuing up to sign for us. As Alcazar has strongly hinted – who wants to sign up for what looks like an inevitable relegation scrap?
What we now need is a couple of decent signings to demonstrate intent – and PDQ!
That would make us appear a better prospect all round to the middling players we can surely afford but apparently cannot attract.Lee Angol has a nicely above adequate record.
Bet we could have got more out of him than we did out of Kev.
Would still have preferred Muldoon, of course.
Wish I smoked a pipe so I could indulge in a few dreams laced with positivity. Sigh.
I am just waiting for the squad to be patched up with League One 18 year old loanees that nobody else would dream of signing.Come back Cordner – all is forgiven! (No. I wasn’t being entirely serious, there.)
Sounds probable.
One of the two dirtiest little soldiers I’ve ever seen on a football pitch.
(The other was Dave Caldwell of Mansfield and Torquay.)If only I could feel that we aren’t going to be stuck with the leftovers again.
There is no reason at all why we cannot put together a solid squad but – someone – please show us something to encourage. All signings by 31st May. 21st June = ONE signing. I’ll bet that has sold season tickets by the … pair.
With training starting in about three weeks – this truly to be the week when things happen.
Just so long as Keith Nobbs doesn’t play for them anymore …
SS is a much better GK than when he left.
Loans?
You mean players of whom the majority won’t be all that bothered?
Loan players have to be known really well by the management team as to their potential attitude and dedication to the cause.
(Alternatively, we can get people who have been recommended by their own, wholly unbiased agent!)
Punctuated by a very small handful of super-loanees, over years we have had shedloads of dross.
These players do not come for free. Many will be out-earning the average salary by quite a lot.
The bog standard ones which are loaned as a favour may be cheap but ,,,I have stated more than once that we need a number of players of exactly this type to stop the appalling slide which has been allowed to happen.
Caring signings with guts will bring the best out of the plodders and the continuity players.
Even so, one signing does not make a summer.1 user thanked author for this post.
Certainly makes you wonder.
Yeah.
I knew Jack very well. As a teenager he gave me lifts to the OSG from Burton for a good few years. His wife was delightful.
As I understand, he contracted dementia. Tragic!

Tom Lees?
Can we stretch to an ‘S’ – it’s only makes the same length as Hall? -
