Simple truth.
Mansfield were comfortably the better side and showed us how to control a game.
Appalled by Perry’s dithering for the third and the defensive gaps which opened in our penalty box on a pretty regular basis. In truth, Mansfield are as good as any side I’ve seen this season – far superior to Donny as regards teamwork. Glad we do not have to play them every week!

We are not ten points adrift.
Back-to-back wins – for many a moon a forlorn hope – are now a possibility and would lift us clear of the bottom two.
Under Cox the situation was desperate. We wanted a real manager – well, we’ve got one now.5 users thanked author for this post.
Some real sense being talked on here.
We all suspected the ‘fatigue’ that Hill spoke of – and it is shameful that the previous management team let this happen.
If us stoopid supporters could see it …Beestin has rarely impressed me this season. As for Pugh, Hill will have judged him just on what he has seen. (Remember Cox held him back over training deficiencies.)
Here we go again. This time it’s Jarvis. Another young striker to be pilloried for not being the finished article after a handful of league games!

Observations:
Sideswipe from the manager at players on the treatment table at the start of the week who declare fit in time for the next match. WHY did he feel the need to say this, I ask myself?
Kenyon, when match fit, will do us a job.
Well done by the young FBs.
Interesting that Hill supported ref on their 2 penalty calls and our disallowed goal.
Mrs LesGeo thought that the ball which hit the post was most likely a goal.
Perry did some terrific stuff. My MOTM, maybe.
The goal conceded was pretty horrible.
Hackney looking to be the player we had hoped for.
Hill clearly sees that fitness levels must improve which is what so many have stated on this forum.
The ultra deep defending late in games does come from a lack of fitness rather than tactical ineptitude, it would seem.
The thing is, I trust Keith Hill to sort out the mess. My biggest concern is that there are 9 games in which Taft and Manny HAVE to stay fit as our only available CBs.

Hakeeb was the player who, over a sustained period of first team football, flattered to deceive with one brilliant match in ten, one decent, one average and seven poor.
I have never seen such a talented player serve himself – and the supporters – as badly as that man did.
I cheered when he left and stared in disbelief that we got any money for him at all.
I have never seen a player who appeared to need a sports psychiatrist more than he. So much wasted ability.
Didn’t George Kerr say he played like a man who could go to either Real Madrid or a Sunday league side?5 users thanked author for this post.
So many fans on that guy’s back when his only real problem was being played out of position 80% of the time.
What an odd game!
Terrible in the first part of the first half; developed and started to show some promise; an incredible finish.
Having only one fit CB was a bit dreadful. I agree with WG about Pugh and Rowe.
Unfortunate first goal but as long as Manny is back Saturday – should be okay. What to do with midfield?
Perry is a superb passer of the ball – best we’ve had in years – but his overall game ‘does not quite scour’ (Abe Lincoln.) He looks very young in his general play.1 user thanked author for this post.
Are the MacAtee funds available to us yet?
I look forward to seeing him play in any forward-looking setup that Keith can offer us.
(Feels like I know him better now so I’ve dropped the ‘Mr’.)You are not wrong.
There is so much space and anybody wanting to keep their distance from others can easily do so.1 user thanked author for this post.
Certainly, not good enough for the Championship.
Had a great history with Gillingham.
Young enough.
Probably not a crock.
Isn’t he a bit too good for us to sign, IK?Loan til the season’s end?
It would certainly signal a really positive effort to avoid the drop from PS.
Just doesn’t quite sound right, somehow.

Still objectionable.

Yeah. I’ll chip in with my 55 years or so.
This is unarguably the worst I’ve ever experienced but feel that, although the players may not be as bad as in the re-election years – the management strategists have been total donkey poo.
A certain well-known Scunny travel agent was streets ahead of Neil in terms of: knowledge, footballing brain, best use of inadequate resources, man-management, tactics, psychology and learning from mistakes.
He also signed some terrific players on a budget which was probably smaller in real terms than the the one in place this season.Incidentally, how is it that Paul Hurst was able to get so very much out of the Shrewsbury trio and yet Neil so very little? – It is an important question.

I did question whether Hallam had had a proper medical prior to the contract offer.

Yeah. I get the irony but with some of the folly we have seen – there has seemingly been more sense overall on here than we have seen from the previous management.
Chesterfield. Looked him up. Zero appearances.
Flynn or Hill for me.
Would strongly guess Hill really is in the lead.
Either would be an intelligent option. But what does that mean?We have to assume that there will have to be provision for incomings by one means or another.

Nige will now be about 56.
It is more than possible (presumably having a decent stash) he may be ready to retire. (I know I would under those circumstances.)
It is possible that he might no longer care about footie future and reputation and may be prepared to manage til May to rescue the club which gave him his start. In any other circumstances, it is very hard to see him returning unless the chairman decides to offer megabucks – which may, of course, also be possibility Innit?

Well. TBH, AWG … you may have a valid point.
We can – but will probably have to lose a player to do so.
(Not likely that it would be one we’d be happy with!)50+ on Monday. There will be considerably more now.
Keith Hill is still my choice.3 users thanked author for this post.
The answer is not all that logical, really – especially when the job has not been advertised.
Innit?Apparently, he has done his bit by sacking Cox – and the missing 1,000 fans MUST now return.

Former boss at Carlisle?
Hopefully.
Good riddance!
Sigh of relief – his handling of two almost totally different squads has been lamentable.
These players aren’t dross – they are merely ordinary: they needed modelling, encouraging, teaching and – on occasions – booting up the rear.
Tactically, this man’s ineptitude has never been matched at our club.
We now need a tough guy in to do the business.
I’ll wager there has been a dozen former league managers applying in the last hour – and quite possibly forty more by teatime tomorrow.
These are guys who think that they might never again get a league berth. Loads to choose from.
There always are, Ferrite – even with Swanny in charge.3 users thanked author for this post.
Presumably he had to have another medical before getting the extended contract.
If not – why not?
If yes – perhaps the club should be looking out for a different doc.
Indeed – maybe that is something which should have been looked at several years ago, n’est-ce pas? -
