And please let’s not start next season with Loft as first choice striker.
A squad of 18 players all giving their best for the Iron. I dread to think what the season review would be for the current squad.
“if we had a team of Premier standard we would still play backs to the wall negative football”.
It doesn’t work there either Mick. Mourinho has been sacked four times now.
Colchester and Southend have to play each other so that’s in our favour.
If we keep those 15, the outcome will be the same or worse than this season. It will take more than 5 to turn things round. 7 of the above are not league standard.

Agent Cod is in the right place now!

Maine Road.
If he is a wonderkid it will be an act of footballing and financial negligence if he leaves without a fee. Given the state of some of our forward play, he should have been encouraged to stay and sign a contract through regular first team action.
There are 17 year olds playing international football!! Keegan had 124 appearances up to the age of 20.
It was good to see the effort the team put in today and they did try to pass the ball a lot more. But I agree with CBRP about the forwards being too deep.
Most goals are scored in the box, but Kev, McAtee and Beestin hardly got in there. Just don’t understand why Van Veen is taking free kicks from 50 yards out just inside their half, especially when Mason is perfectly capable.

The last few matches have been a no win, no goals, virtually no shots situation@
“Loft has glaring holes in his game so he needs support and a bit of help.
Why can’t Cox see this ?”
If he can’t see it he must be blind. Loft is 23, had 3 years at Spurs and 2 years at Leicester, but he can’t control or pass the ball. If Loft isn’t 3rd or 4th choice striker next year I can’t see how we can improve.
Cox needs to play 2 up front. I would prefer to see Olomola and McAtee in the next match. Something has to change.
The other problem with playing Loft is that the defenders take the easy way our and keep aimlessly hoofing it up in the air. Not Loft’s fault and I do agree that he plays better when the ball is played to his feet.

A dim beacon if we are pinning our hopes for next season on a main striker with 8 goals this year.
Van Veen’s best ever season is 10 goals. That would put him 17th in the current list. He would drop even lower than that as the players above have many more matches to play in the current season.
If we start next season with the same strikers we will finish bottom half again.
Mullin at Cambridge has 27.

“Loft works his gonads off. Yes – he has some awful games but the good games are in there too”.
Exactly my point – not the type of player we need to achieve a higher finish next year. 22nd in the division’s top scorers list.
I think the agents are a lot brighter than you think Alcy. Anybody who earns a living convincing clubs like ours to sign some of the players we have is a a lot sharper than the ones dishing out the contracts!!

Fully agree with you Awaywego. The goalie is OK, the defence has improved, the midfield more solid, but in a lot of matches the attacking play has been woeful. Cox can take a lot of blame, but the forwards are not good enough.
Fair point. We are 17th in the League. Will be disappointed if we start next season with the same strikers, including Loft.
“How many have stuck the knife into loadsa cracking good forwards when we’ve had them, from Torpey to Novak and from Madden to Forrester?”
I’m not sticking the knife into Loft, it’s just my opinion that having watched the games this season he is not good enough.
The 4 you name above were all a long way better than Loft. They all had bad games and loss of form. But I can never remember any of them being “worthy” of a 2 or 3 mark in any game. Loft has on numerous occasions.
“What he has had to deal with is like no other manager in SUFC history”.
Sounds like you missed the years when pretty much the same 11 with 1 sub played every match with 4-5 backup players and apprentices.
We now have up to 30 to choose from. The problem is that so many of that number, including some in the current first team squad (Loft, Green, Hippo), are not good enough, would never be good enough and should never have been signed.
For next season, they need to cut the squad size, and only sign players who can play for the first team. It can be done, but get the likes of Karacan, Howard, Taft, before the season starts, not after.

So you want a 100% guarantee to take the vaccine do you Alcy?
“See the post below yours for a sensible version of a response”.
Sensible? Your post is not worthy of a sensible response.
Footballers move to clubs in a higher division and for higher wages. Happens to all clubs at all levels. Get over it!!

“They’ve already primed us by saying that the vaccine neither stops you getting it, not passing it on”.
That’s not true!
“We can’t stand in the lad’s way. He’s going to a bigger club/higher league”.
Correct Alcy. Not a lot can be done of he’s out of contract.
With no fans in the ground and no “crowd noise” you can hear the Hollywood death screams every time they are tackled!
Defenders are called out when mistakes are made but with the current laws of arms not in a unnatural position, no bumping into anyone, no last ditch tackles if you take the man as well as the ball, there was contact and the attacker deliberately ran into you or tripped over your foot – it’s a tough game for defenders.
No excuse for Clarke by the way, but he also deserves credit for the way he has played at centre back.
“COX—6—Did ok, but still a defensive system, but is limited with the players we havw available”.
It was based on defence, but for the first time in weeks there did seem to be a plan. Instead of the brainless hoof ball they did pass the ball and counter attack. Enjoyed the game for a change. Loft would have been a 3 from me, but he did win one header and Green scored.

Does anyone have the phone number for Jarvis’s agent?
Whereas we’ve never read your “what about Wharton” post about a hundred times before. Watch some of the matches before you pass comment on other supporters opinions!!
But he’s never been more on topic with the title of the thread. We’ve really missed the non attending non watching expert lecturing those that do bother to go or watch.
“From what I’ve be seen”.
What have you seen?
Or for expressing an opinion having attended or watched the match!!
