It’s OK supporters staying away and it is your decision, but if you stay away and come on here boasting about not coming and the club folded just remember you helped with the demise, I agree with the reasons like the chairman over the last 3 years and the dire football and negative tactics but if the club folded and the club restarted we would be playing Brigg and Barton OB or no club at all and then the owner could recoup his money on development of other projects.
You are pointing the finger in the wrong direction. Plenty of clubs are higher up the leagues with smaller gates than ours, how are Accrington or Burton doing well in League One?
Fundamentally, the club is not entitled to our money. It does not have a right to receive our £20 every fortnight. It needs to earn that right, whether it’s through good football, a good atmosphere or by creating a proper club environment where people feel like they’re actually part of the club.
You can’t blame people who aren’t prepared to keep handing over their money at this stage.

I reckon it’ll be a draw. An improved performance on the back of Hill’s appointment in front of a crowd roughly 50/50 split between Iron & Rovers fans.
Just want to see some points on the board.
I guarantee he won’t pick any up in his first two games!

Will be interesting to see how it goes, he’s a big personality, hopefully no clashes.

Would be interesting to know if the club has plans to stream this event online so the hundreds locked out can see what it’s all about.
I’m sure there have been plenty of applicants, regardless of whether there’s an ad in the classifieds or not.
“Earn ££££££ managing a Football League team!”
It’s a sign of our struggles that we are pinning our hopes on young, unproven players but it’s equally true that arguably our best performance of the season, against Tranmere, was achieved with players such as Gallimore, Rowe, Wilson & Pugh on the pitch. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
To be honest, at this stage I wouldn’t mind a move that would give fans something to cling to, something to get excited about, because it’s been so long since anything like that happened around GP. I can’t see even Adkins turning the situation around but at least it could make for a more exciting ride.
Swann will be on sports talk this evening
I hope he’s asked how he’ll be changing the way he appoints managers, given he’s sacked 8 in 8 seasons.

WG – if memory serves.
In the last decade, is there any worse record, anywhere in the entire EFL, where a patently unsuccessful manager has managed to hang onto his job for this length of time?
The only vague comparison that I can think of is the Norwich manager but at least he got them promoted last season!
How do we get out of this mess ?
I would argue that a more diverse boardroom would be a very good place to start.

I do think another exit onto the now downgraded M181 is a non starter, since it would require another roundabout….unless they envisage it being one way only.
I assume that’s exactly what the plan would be – like the left-turn-only exit they put in from B&Q onto Donny Road.
It’s interesting, there were even some positive signs at Barrow in terms of the bright start to the game although that only lasted about 15 minutes. A similar start to that and perhaps a start for Beestin would go a long way though, I reckon.

If they don’t reverse the massive cuts to councils, there’s no point at all as councils have got no money to maintain communal facilities like that. It’s one of the reasons why councils have had to sell off land – not just that they could but because they needed to do so.

Stand corrected and hope we have a big sell on clause. The main point is that the coaches failed to get much from him in terms of skill and effort.
I seem to recall a Mr P. Hurst, formerly of North Lincolnshire, was quite successful in getting him to play well.
Be very careful when answering on these surveys, Bradford screwed their fans over increasing their season ticket prices this year by 25% with an innocent survey, and our survey on the shirts was underhand, it wasn’t mentioned about a weighted vote on the home shirt, though I did get the shirt I voted for.
Is that true? I know Bradford have had very low priced season tickets in recent seasons, so presumably their prices are still well below ours?
They can’t randomly contact people due to GDPR.
I’m pretty sure that’s not true. How often have you signed up for something online and received endless emails about it afterwards? GDPR would only stop companies contacting you if you’d opted out of receiving marketing/emails, etc..
Anyone able to share the questions being asked? It’s always interesting to see what is being asked and, perhaps more importantly, what isn’t being asked.
Even at the time it seemed odd but in retrospect the decision to drop Pugh to accommodate the two loanees at Northampton on the back of the Tranmere win was a catastrophic one. It’s taken us a long time to recover from it, hopefully Saturday was the start of something.
Lynch however – “At the same time, it’s not acceptable to lose against Scunthorpe.” Who does he think he’s playing for these days? There’s the basis for the team talk before we play them again.
Shows how far we’ve fallen – it used to be QPR fans saying things like that! Now it’s merely Crawley.. a..
You love to see it! Like back in the day when teams would sack their manager immediately after losing to “little old Scunny”.
we were heavily indebted to Rory for a couple of top drawer saves in the first half, as was the same in the previous match
I’ve never really understood this line of thought – a goalkeeper is part of your team and he’s allowed to play well. I get that you don’t want to rely on the last line of defence but we never complained about Joe Murphy being brilliant during our promotions with him, did we?
If Rory Watson is playing well, that’s got to be a positive, particularly given how much stick he’s had in recent seasons.
As for attendances: Who can blame the fans for not turning up. The board have spent the last few years alienating the core of the fanbase, which has driven many away from the club
Fully agree with this, let’s point the finger in the right direction.

Another thing I noticed from rewatching that equaliser – we had ten (10) players in our own box. So when the ball broke to the guy on the edge of the area, it’s no wonder there was no one to mark him. Ridiculous.

Bit harsh on Millen, he’d just blocked one shot, chased out to close the cross down and it wasn’t his man who scored. Clearly knackered too – which is normal when you spend the entire game without the ball.
BTW, what those highlights don’t show is Barrow’s missed penalty when Millen ran at the penalty taker, clearly screaming something at him!

Should he come? The jury is out. I dont think even SAF could motivate this lot.
I’m not really sure motivation is the problem with this team, I think the hard work is there. It’s more the fact they’re a bit crap, are set up far too defensively and don’t really have a plan on how to score goals or defend.

Win percentages are a very blunt way of judging a manager – they don’t take any account of context. A 40% win percentage for Cox in our current situation would be an incredible achievement whereas a 60% win percentage for Guardiola would be a disappointment.
Impressively poor stats. Our passing was bad last year and seems to have got worse.
Absolutely – but most of those “passes” weren’t passes. They were clearances. Aimless hoofs into space. There was hardly any attempt to keep the ball or to try to build an attack. We completely surrendered possession whenever we got it. The only thing I can compare it to is that famous Barcelona v. Inter Milan game when Inter put 11 (then 10) men behind the ball for 90 minutes to get through to the final. But that was quite a good Inter side!
Adkins would have to have rocks in his head to come here, as would pretty much any manager in our current situation! But I don’t think Adkins is the answer, brilliant as it would be to see him come back here.
