I thought Hill’s interview on Saturday was strange. I’ve felt he’s always sounded a bit “arm’s length” during his time here and after the Newport game he sounded very defensive of both his record & his decisions. Made me wonder if he’s either feeling under pressure or disillusioned. Who knows, maybe he was just a bit raw after such a frustrating defeat. Time will tell.
If the yardstick for our signings this January is ‘anything better than KDT’ we really are up shit creek.
How do we know? Have we ever seen enough of him to gauge an opinion? I seem to remember people were pretty positive about the game he started at Crawley last season.
I wouldn’t mind a battering ram here for the other option, Calvin Andrew on a free would do. Andrew, Nuttall and Burns would be ok you would have thought.
Put Onarise up front, full John Beck long ball tactics. We’d look much more dangerous.
I think the young lad from Wolves deserves the benefit of the doubt, at least for a couple more games.
All in favour of that, I was just surprised/disappointed how out of his depth he looked on Saturday, but good luck to him for the future. Starting tomorrow!

Matheson hasn’t done too bad at all coming into a god awful team… lacks height which isn’t good but has a decent pass and has some pace on him! Rather him over the other RB’s.
According to the stats sites, his pass completion on Saturday was 45%. 19 passes completed out of 42. In all honesty, I’m surprised it was that high.
Manny is clear of Taft and Davis! Manny at least tackles and follows his marker. Taft/Davis are liabilities!
How many penalties did Taft & Davis concede on Saturday? Not saying they’re better players than him but the fact that people see Onarise as an important player for this team sums up why we’re at the bottom of the division.
Perry can pick a pass, he just can’t offer anything off the ball.
If we want to get to 45 points, which is probably the minimum we’ll need to stay up, we’re going to need to average 1.3 points/per game for the last 20 games. In other words, we’ll need to win 6, draw 8, and lose just 6 of our remaining 20 games. So, no real worries there, right?

Update:
Cox 11 in 15, 0.73 ppg
Hill 8 in 11, 0.72 ppgDidn’t they bring in some “double punishment” bollocks where if it’s a penalty it’s not a red card as the penalty is “sufficiant” punishment. Outside the area it would be a free kick and a red card.
To the best of my knowledge, this is only if the player makes a “genuine attempt” to play the ball. So if Onarise had been last man for his penalty foul, he’d not have been sent off, because he was clearly trying to win the ball even though it was a terrible tackle. But if he’d pulled him over, like with our penalty, the ref could have given the penalty AND the red. That’s my understanding anyway.
As for Allam, name change, removal of all concession prices, eviction of sports group from the arena, trying to sell the trampolines of said sports group even though they belonged to the sports group, when challenged Junior said ‘I’m doing what’s morally right for me’ telling fans to die, the only Premier League club to spend a fund dedicated soley for away fans on facilities at their own stadium, every other club used it for cheaper away travel or tickets, refusal to engage with the Trust which is a FL requirement, telling fans they were irrelevant as the bulk of income came from the Sky and the Premier League, a change of tune followed.
Fair enough! These are the sorts of things you miss from the outside but which really should be reported more.

Good knowledge Mick!
That was a five fold improvement on his performance at Exeter, which tells you how bad he was there!
Jesus wept!
No idea how good Burns is because he was hardly ever within 40 yards of his team mates. No support at all.
Watson was superb, a couple of the first half saves were sensational.
Onarise, who everyone tells me is our best defender, was a liability once again, with a ludicrous tackle to concede the penalty.
The midfield was anonymous – Perry would probably look good in a decent team but he’s not the answer for us. Pugh & Rowe are far too similar and limited to play together. What’s happened to Kenyon? Where were Jarvis & Dunnwald-Turan? Why can’t Beestin get on the pitch even in circumstances like Saturday?

One of the key points is this: it’s ok to have a small budget and to run the club “sustainably”. Plenty of other clubs do this but most of them achieve a LOT more even though they get smaller crowds. Look at Newport: they’re not exactly rolling in money, yet they were streets ahead of us on Saturday. Clubs like Cambridge, Burton & Accrington are all in League One with similar sized fanbases to our own. We could – and should – be doing so much more with our resources.

I never really understood what the Hull fans had against Allam. The Tigers name change seemed to whither on the vine a few years ago and since then they seem, from the outside at least, to have been run pretty sensibly.
If I were a Hull fan, I’d certainly be pretty sceptical about this new guy they’ve got in charge there now – sacking Grant McCann seems a pretty odd first step to take as owner.

Six games?
How long did that guy get for biting someone for the second or third time? They always hit the little clubs with the maximum.
Not condoning anything, just saying…
Suarez received a 10-match ban for biting Ivanovic when he was at Liverpool. But don’t let facts spoil your paranoid “theories”.
No idea Mick, I just know he’s not been seen for several weeks.
What about Millen? Another one MIA.
That is such an obvious idea, I can’t see why it hasn’t happened.

Poor form, I wonder if this will lead to the return of the missing man: Alex Perry.
banned to do with fees apparently.
That’s one reason, wasn’t there something about the Telegraph refusing to pass on the name of a commenter on their stories? Not sure if that was ever resolved before the fees issue?

Alex Calvo Garcia .i think Motek was the shirt sponsor at Wembley ??? .. 99/2000 was my last season living in UK.
How the ARSE did I forget Sir Alex from that list! I’m going to have a serious word with myself about that.
On the kits .. 3 looks very similar to an old shirt i have here .. age has clouded my memory and not sure what year but it was back when Motek were the sponsor.
99/00, as worn by John Eyre, Jamie Forrester, Big John Gayle, Chris Hope, Justin Walker, Richard Logan, Andy Dawson and others.

I went to Boreham Wood once, getting on for 20 years ago, it was a proper non-league ground back then, like going to Brigg or Bottesford.
I can’t remember the details but I believe they’re pretty unpopular among Conference fans – possibly because of their owner.
Terrible thug of a player, we can go down on our own without lowering ourselves to having him on the team.
Exactly, maybe it’s a sign of learning from previous criticism & mistakes?
Not everything’s a conspiracy: when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

How many of this squad would walk into any other league two team? O’Malley, maybe Pugh that’s it.
O’Malley takes a lovely free kick and corner but defensively he’s pretty poor. I think he’ll improve but there must be plenty of much better left backs in this division.

The fact that the colours faded out should have been a clue.
The colours reflected in the empty seats in the stands!
How on earth can SWANN expect fans to vote now on next seasons kits. What a cheek when we’re only just over half-way through this season. Another ploy to try and take the heat out of our present plight caused purely by HIMSELF and take the heat off HIMSELF. I’m sure most fans would agree SWANN needs to be focusing on the current debacle our Club is in and GET THE EFL LOAN PAID OFF AND GET SOME EXPERIENCED HALF-DECENT PLAYERS IN TO AT LEAST GIVE IT A GO AT KEEPING US IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I’m sure too that most fans would say never mind the kits focus on the job in hand.
I’m all for giving Swann the criticism he deserves but engaging with fans on the choice of kits does not seem to be grounds for a virtual kicking. Given the lead times involved with these things, a new design in January sounds about right. Especially given the delays we’ve had in getting the kits in the shop in recent seasons.
Of course, there’s always the question of why clubs have to change kits every season but I think most of us would be happy to see the back of our current abomination.

Three for me as well, although to be fair all of them are better than last year’s options.
Yes, we deserve our relegation purely on the basis of this season’s home kit.

Kit 3, it shouts non-league so loudly it’s the same as the kit we wore in our 98/99 promotion season to the third tier.

Ferrite—-When reading your post, it clearly is saying that the two records of Cox and Hill are about the same, so does this not suggest that you are pointing out that theere is no difference in the two managers!!!!!!, it certainly does to me.
Did you read the full post fella? If so, you’ll have seen this bit:
“I think every Iron fan would agree that we look better under Hill yet we’re still absolutely terrible and average under a point a game. So what does that say about how bad a squad we have? About where the actions of the board over the last few years have brought us?”
My point is changing the manager, improving the manager, does not seem to have actually improved the team. That’s pretty worrying, no?
