Court documents now released proving that Swann was actively looking to sell the club in the summer 2018 to pay off gambling debts.
This was also the summer our fortunes reversed and we began plummeting down the leagues.
At least we now have an explanation to why we dropped so suddenly.
Agreed; I am also disappointed by the lack of action from the Trust and other groups. I don’t expect intricate details of a takeover process but the lack of information we have received is poor. The Trust should act as a rallying point for supporters to throw their support behind.
Additionally, I have resisted criticising Neil Wright but his role as fans director is redundant at best, he was elected by the Iron trust and seemingly does nothing to enlighten supporters on the ongoing situation. Our only information is rumours on Twitter or leaked bits of info from SST.

Southend 2million shortfall expected this season, averaging 5700, backroom staff not been paid since October and then when they did Southend trust loaned them 40.000 pounds to do so, winding up petition by the HMRC on the 18th, from the sounds of it we’re not far behind them the only difference is their fans haven’t deserted them in numbers like ours actually, similar to most clubs most fans get behind their teams when the chips are down.
Hardly; 3,100 average when our historic average is 3,500. I’m actually surprised crowds have held up so well.
Bear in mind that Lincoln (2,181) Grimsby (3,072) had crowds fall significantly when they entered non league and neither had to endure what we have, furthermore both have a larger fan base.
Don’t worry about any other club other than SCUNTHORPE UNITED.
If they enter Administration extinction really is around the corner.
This is the problem. No one gives a shit until it happens to them.

Rochdale seeking investment too as they are on course to lose over £1million.
God knows what’s going to happen at Crawley, their owners appear to be complete looney tunes.
Really is a complete shambles on the lack of regulation; these are 100 year old institutions that are being left in the hands of narcissistic tyrants to do as they like with.

I didn’t think the EFL was payable yet?
Also If there is mortgage taken out on the ground wouldn’t Coolsilk be liable ?The playing squad wage can’t be substantial and crowds are still averaging 3,000 which is roughly what we must have budgeted for. Something doesn’t seem to be adding up to why we are losing so much a month.

Where is the money going ?
Crowds have held up reasonably well so how on earth do we lose 90k a month if we were meant to be sustainable going into this year.
Wasn’t all debt wiped off with the stadium transfer?

Me, I bought a half season ticket
Isn’t Robbie Savage involved with them in some way?, youth team or kids football scheme on the ground, something like that anyway.
Yeh he is, supporting a local businessman who owns the club and purchased the ground on rightmove after they went bust.
There was a good documentary on Iplayer about them starting up a couple of years ago, not sure if it’s still on there.
The club is worthless, operates at a loss and has no tangible assets other than some training bibs; Effectively it should be bought for a £1.
The stadium/land was allegedly last valued at £4million, I don’t know if that’s still the case and how the planning permission expiring for the apartments will affect it.
I highly doubt Elliot and co have the readies to afford the stadium. You are then potentially looking at paying the mortgage loan off and also the EFL loan. God knows what else is hiding in the closet as there is rumours of unpaid tax bill.
The consortium is going to need deep pockets

Apter is a football league player and will probably end up in league one or the championship regularly. Him and Butterfield are wasted on this side.
December 26, 2022 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Disappointingly, Depressingly , Disgracefully Repetitive #251159Soon as the team is put under meaningful pressure it crumbles, no game management whatsoever. The amount of times we concede after scoring, before/after halftime is ridiculous.
The planning permission is due to expire on the apartments soon which could complicate matters further.
Bigger question is will there be a club by March 4th?

His gambling addiction is shocking but it’s not something I’ll use to beat him up with; I just want his ties with Scunthorpe United completely severed and we can move on.
If that means us going bust and reforming, then so be it.

Made a massive difference just keeping things simple formation wise and playing people in their correct position; disappointing not to get the 3 points as 1 isn’t sufficient I’m afraid.

He’s certainly got a chance of succeeding at this level but I doubt that will be at a team one place above us.
Not what I wanted from the new owners, maybe the old chestnut “His contract was up in the summer better to get abit of money now than nothing later”
Didn’t realise the takeover had been confirmed ?

Still think we should be blooding Foster in, highly rated yet deemed not good enough for us.
Would rather not ruin another promising young keeper’s career.
An 18 year old keeper shouldn’t be nowhere near this side

There without doubt should be a panel set up overseeing this type of carry in the lower leagues. Swann should have had his knuckles wrapped on the very first season we/he decided to spend more than what we were earning.
One point he spent around 120% more than what we were earning. A panel overlooking such matters should have nipped that in the bud very early on because that’s absolutely ridiculous.
More certainly needs to be done.
They were almost 150% and at its worth pointing out nobody on this forum- nor on social media- was particularly concerned; we were content with watching entertaining football and trying to compete with Sheffield United and Bolton.
Wasn’t it Phil Parkinson who said Bradford- a club with 15k attendances- couldn’t compete with Bury and Scunthorpe in wages at the time.

In fairness to Nelson, he was shouting across to the centre backs to push out more when they had possession in midfield, they just blatantly ignored it and proceeded to defend on the edge of their six yard box. Boyce couldn’t control the line either.
We were sat so deep it just allowed Notts all the time in the world to pick their shots off, they didn’t even need to get out of 2nd gear despite being a good side.
Desperately need 2 centre backs and a keeper in, even if we don’t stay up it will at least allow us to be competitive again because at the moment it’s impossible to get anything from a game when we concede so many.
Would’ve been below 4K without the announcement. If we can get back to 3k+ home crowds regularly then that’s a start, no easy task with such a diabolical football team.

Don’t expect any miracles soon. Make no mistake, this an absolutely woeful team and it’s not about getting 2/3 players to make things better.
Mass clearout required unfortunately, every position needs strengthening.
Pure comedy whoever decided to play ogle left back by the way. Set him up for a fail there.

Once the takeover is complete it could be a good idea to drop prices down to a fiver and get as many in as we can for one game. Possibly Maidenhead on the 7th Jan?
Think the best we can do for the new owners is- finances depending- get down there and attend as many games as we can whilst encouraging others to do the same. I’ll be purchasing a half season ticket today.
I’m a very emotional Iron fan tonight, and am not embarrassed to say I shed a tear of joy at the news.
But as others above say it isn’t all going to change for the good overnight. Let’s face it we are still deep in the doo-doo footballing wise.
Let’s hope it’s a new dawn not a false one.
UTI
If we stay up then great but I fully expect to be playing NLN next year, and to be honest I couldn’t give a shit. Mass clear out and rebuild the club from top to bottom, won’t need a large budget to compete either.
Local games and winning football will bring larger crowds no matter what league we’re.
Not felt this excited about watching the club for years.

Agreed, but no-one really cares tonight
Loved listening to Elliot on Humberside; no bullshit, no false promises. The pockets aren’t deep so it’s not going to be quick fix.
Good news is we’ve got the ground back, not sure if we have to pay the mortgage taken out or if that’s included in the deal.

Absolutely brilliant news. Hopefully the beginning of the end of this nightmare.
Up the Iron!
