Do you not think it’ll be pay-on-the-gate?

If you mean physically hand over cash or tap your card at the turnstile itself then absolutely not.

Are people just frustrated that they can’t post a screenshot of their ticket on their social media?

I think it’s more generous than that – ie. it’s an awareness of the (admittedly short term) undue strain this is likely to put on club resources, plus the hassle involved for those people who don’t buy digitally having to go down to a very busy club office within a very limited timeframe to, probably, queue for ages.

Chester last season started selling their semi tickets on the 26th of April a full 12 days before the match was played on the 7th. 5/6th 4/7th played on the 3/4th of May. So no reason for us not to start selling as soon as the game finishes on Saturday surely we can all agree on that.

Agreed. Insisting on leaving it until the Thursday seems, to me, to be wilfully putting strain on the club’s resources.

…if Brackley win their last game and we lose at Gloucester and the goal difference is overtaken then we would finish third. Obviously highly unlikely but I can see why the season has to end officially before tickets can be sold.

This is right and proper, and upholds the integrity of the competition.

James Moody has said via Twitter (X) that SUFC asked the NL for reconsideration of the date that Play Off semi-final tickets could go on sale – but this was denied by the NL.

So the on sale date remains the Thursday before the Saturday, ie just two days prior. Absolutely ridiculous, imho.

I’d say part of the reason promotion is essential (hopefully to then be followed by another promotion, back into the league) is the increase in away support ticket revenue it would bring. There have been some exceptions, of course, but it’s been shocking to see just thirty to fifty people in the away end week after week, this season.

If he doesn’t set up for non stop attacking JD should leave early !

I fully expect a storming performance on Saturday. I think the second half comeback last Saturday has been a bit of a confidence boost, and really showed what we can do if we keep at teams and ‘don’t take no for an answer’.

It’s possible that those from recent years might be the subject of gagging orders. Surely any manager between Laws and Nelson (inclusive) will have tales to tell if able. (Maybe leave out those that would send the crowd to sleep before they got to the interesting bits. You know who I mean!)

There was the sense (during Laws’s bit at the Kevin Keegan event) that he was unable to talk about the Peter Swann years, so I suspect you are absolutely correct about NDAs being in place.

Turnbull only half-heartedly tried to draw Laws out on Swann, and it was obvious this was more Turnbull putting Laws on the spot to make him uncomfortable for a laugh between them.

It was also equally clear that there was plenty Laws could say about Swann but wouldn’t, or would say about Swann but couldn’t.

Hopefully no injuries and or red cards in the last 2 fixtures

I think the worst case scenario would be Whitehall getting injured or suspended and having to play Elliott in the play offs.

Start with Whitehall on Saturday, go for it from the off, and once it’s clear we’ve won the game take him off. Then don’t play him at Gloucester.

I reckon Steve Foster might have more interesting things and ways of saying them. Just being Ex Iron doesn’t make you interesting

I’m pretty sure I’d be interested in hearing what any ex-Iron has to say, to be honest.

Hopefully, teams that like to spike our guns with negativity are gonna be a bit stressed when they have to play to win!

That’s actually a really valid point. How many teams have we seen that have been set up as negative, to frustrate our play? You’d expect a couple of one-off ‘winner takes all’ kind of games to be much more open, I think..?

Peter Swann had amazing plans to build a new stadium.

I think a difference is that Kelvin has a good reputation for building success in catering at Hull KR, seemingly, while Swann only ever had half-arsed entertainment venues of dubious success at the time of his arrival.

I’m sure they it was probably a shitshow behind the scenes, in business or financial terms, whatever… but the Sands club in Gainsborough was actually good while it lasted – not half-arsed, at least not on the occasions I visited for dinner / dance / cabaret style evenings in a post-Sinatra / wannabe Goodfellas style.

My theory is the relative success of that venue led Swann to overestimate himself and his judgement, and continually bite off more than he actually had the chops to chew.

I’d have given Whitehall MOTM today, he did what I’ve always wanted him to do just play like a proper centre forward, great watch second half

I’d suggest it was his best game for Scunthorpe so far.

Im just hoping Whitehall doesnt go Daft Vadar n get sent off in next 2 games ..i take it suspensions carry over and he would miss the playoffs .. he was close to marching against Hereford going by Gareths Ironarmy vlog.

Really surprised he didn’t get his second yellow card of the match for that incident – so, for me, the ref being really sensible / lenient has completely balanced out the penalty that wasn’t given a few matches ago that there was all that furore about.

    10 (seats) x 23 (games) x 18 (terrace price) = £4,140

    I’d say 3k is a massive undersell.

I have heard stories. Stories which make it no surprise that The Smoking Goat lost out on the gig, no matter how people liked the food.

    It’s a shame. *sniff*

Anyone else sick of his embarrassing antics? That trap door that seemed to launch him not long after he came on must surely be dug up from the pitch. If he put half the effort he puts into cheating into motioning towards the ball in the box he might actually become a good player, as it is he just waits for the ball,1st thing you’re taught not to do.

Despite the fact he’s scored quite a few goals this season I think Whitehall has suffered from playing as a lone striker. The JD system highlights the shortcomings in his game (including what you mention) when, actually, there’s a very good player in there.

I reckon when you consider the recent online behaviour of our fans this twitter post has to be considered extremely irresponsible

It’s also highly unprofessional. I expect more from my football club, even when passions are running high.

What you mean blokes pushing 60 not wanting to risk getting battered by a load of drunk (quite possibly coked up too nowadays) fitter youths / young men? Get real! I’ve already said I’ve made remarks in the past and got punched for it. Maybe time for younger guys who heal quicker and better to start saying something? Or better still, for the perpetrators to learn some respect and civility? Too much coke and drink flying about these days, as frequently glorified or humoured on the Facebook page.

    It’s not just a punch-up anymore, it’s the risk of a knock-over and repeated head-stamp, too.

… despite him being 2 yards from Whitehall when rhe booking incident occurred – which was not a foul by either player by the way…

It was a heavy collision but there was absolutely nothing ‘in it’ from either of them.

With regard to the disallowed goal last night I just wondered what is the role of linesman these days, they are there to assist the referees but what rules do they operate under? It should have been clear from a side view that no one was near the keeper and he should have flagged to advise the ref unless he didn’t see it but he ought to have seen it or is it that the referees made a decision and that’s it.

Maybe, then, it’s to do with the power dynamic between refs and linesmen?

I understand he may not have had a clear view, but any competent ref would have gone over and asked the linesman for a second opinion. All he did was blow up straight away thinking he saw something which didn’t even happen.

    That’s just not good enough.

But if he believed something happened then why seek second opinion? What else is he supposed to do other than commit to the decision based on what he saw?

To disallow that goal last night in my opinion was more than just incompetency, he saw something which didn’t even happen. It’s surely impossible for a ref to a get a decision so wrong and just chalk it down to a human error.

Butterfield was a a few yards away from their GK when he slapped the ball into his own net !

Just looking for the possible explanation with the least edge to it, for the sake of everyone’s sanity…

I’d suggest that because he didn’t have a clear view (ie. sight of the keeper was obscured by Butterfield’s back), when the keeper went down seeming to have been fouled then the referee had no option other than working on the balance of probability that he had. The lino might have been able to clarify, but perhaps he didn’t have a clear view either.

In the non-VAR leagues, who does the rule book favour in these situations?

I do find it odd that a man who told a judge he couldn’t read a sign due to poor eyesight could see enough to get so angry at this, I smell perjury

A former law student needed to rely on a notice sign to know that photo taking in court is prohibited?

It was vanity. He was just trying to appear excitingly close to power.

Lot of moaning from 64 and yet he did sod all when the woman lino was abused, some folk eh.

That’s perhaps a little bit unfair – 64 did say the abusers “swarmed”, which suggests that there were quite a lot of them. Who would tackle that?
